  • @ilovetogofast88 You should have left your comment, except maybe the f-word....I liked it.

  • Now that our president apparently has a license to kill, should we ask Sean Connery to come out of retirement to play “Double-Obama”? I guess it’s OK to ignore the Constitution to assassinate and detain American citizens or start his own war in Libya resulting in the assassination of another head of state as long as he uses a cruise missile or Predator drone to actually do the killing instead of a Walther PPK. Not to worry if all those Predators go rogue, Arnold Schwarzenegger is acting again!

  • That was the Marine Band??? AWESOME BRASS!!!! Thanks for uploading and USA ALL THE WAY

  • @Gordontrek Agreed...I hunted around quite a bit before settling on this version...it has the clearest and cleanest brass without slurring, as well as good timing, IMHO. Glad you enjoyed it. LL&P.

  • @bigbeninjax Yes the brass is very clear and wholesome! Also, if you're looking for another good recording, I would recommend the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recording with Erich Kunzel, that's the one I settled on myself. I'm an avid classical musician and listener, and out of all the professional orchestras I've ever heard, they have the best brass.

  • @Gordontrek Good info....thanks a lot, I'll check it out.

  • COMIN AGAIN TO SAVE THE MUTHAFUCKIN DAY YEAHHHH

  • MMMUUURICA FUCK YEAH

  • MMMMMMMMMMMERICA. RUHHHHHHHHHH

  • I guess when you say AMERICA you know that there's a WHOLE CONTINENT called AMERICA ;)

  • @darkside34 Two of them, actually. And, you do realize that Copland wrote this piece for the "United States of AMERICA" who are called "Americans", not United Statesans. ;-)

Nice cover of Octavarium, btw. Good fretwork. You familiar with laiyouttiham's channel here on YT? Good stuff in the same style.

  • O have always liked Aaron Copland

  • Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

  • If this is the Fanfare for the Common Man...I'd like to hear the Fanfare for the Exceptional Man

  • Aaron Copland... Wonderful composer. Many thanks ;)

  • Beautifully done. It brought me to tears! Americans are not perfect, but I do believe in American exceptionalism and this work is a great example of that

  • @denik258 Thank you very much. The future will be meaningless if we ignore what got us to this point.

  • uncommon for our common ... man & woman

  • You're French and you're lecturing me on bombs and oil while your planes are bombing Libya which WAS sending you and your EU buddies 85% of its oil??? Our soldiers are all volunteers and they fight to keep the Muslim cutthroats from bombing places like NYC, Madrid, London, and burning 1000s of cars in the streets of PARIS. If it weren't for our soldiers you would be speaking German and the South Koreans would be speaking Chinese instead of being the world's 12th largest economy.

  • @bigbeninjax To witamwilk.... Stalin, Lenin, Khrushev, Hitler, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Saddam and Uday and Qusay, and now let's add Ben Ali of Tunisia, Saleh, Mubarak of Egypt, Hamas and Hezbollah, Ahmindeninutjob in Iran who still stones women for adultery, and the rest of the Arab world where women are treated worse than dogs. Try raising your kids there! Apparently no one dares to say s**t about their "evil" in your world...and THAT'S a shame.

  • @bigbeninjax

I hope when you say 'if it weren't for our soldiers you would be speaking German' you aren't referring to American soldiers because that would be quite confusing wouldn't it

  • @Mazza4Azza Which part do you find confusing?

  • @bigbeninjax

The part where it says ''if it weren't for our soldiers you would be speaking German'

  • @Mazza4Azza Once again....exactly which part of it do you not understand?

  • @bigbeninjax

    Never mind

  • is about creativity? yah that's true, they do great bombs, about children? yes, it send them to die for gallons of gazoline, for all the people? what about the corean? freedom and liberty? get exploited by their companies. Your soldiers only fight for your fat-ass politicians! and that is evil.

  • This has to be the worst national anthem ever, not much thought to it just like the flag. Let’s stick a leaf on are national flag. What the f no though process at all but then again it is so f-en cold and ugly up there who can think straight. Now you want to see a flag and an anthem with thought look no further than America everything on our flag stands for something the stars and stripes and colors and the anthem best in the word. Jealous much you ugly folks.

  • on the eve of Armagedon, I will stand on the tip of the empire state building listening to this and look down uppon the wonders man has created with our bare hands

  • personally, I'm relieved that it's not the band "America"; I don't think they could do a rendition of this piece adequately.

  • I remember when this used to be the background music for one of the U.S. Navy's recruting commercials :)

  • The Spirit of Truth will yet Reign...

  • @HalooftheMuse Let's hope soon, for a change......

  • Come on! This isn't America! They did Ventura Highway, Tinman, & Sister Golden Hair!

  • @dcs002 LOL...yeah, classic bait and switch! Thanks for a great comment.

  • @dcs002 This is America and her people and those who made her great. It is the "WHY" Copeland wrote this what he saw in a great Nation and a great people.

  • @mrbdguard I know, it's an astonishingly powerful piece of music that totally meets a seemingly impossible expression. I usually get goose bumps when I hear it. But honestly, I really did click on this video because I thought the band America had done an interpretation of this piece, and I'd love to hear that. But is this music really about the USA? Because the common man is everywhere - the unsung, common, miraculous, triumphant, ordinary human. That's what I've always thought it was about.

  • @Sentenashi

    I love you too mate!

  • Love you too mate!

  • @Sentenashi

Please do something positive for the world and for yourself or just stay in your room and keep your vomit to yourself.

  • @agcpa18 Wow, are people still mad I insulted america? Get over it you egotistical fucks. Learn to laugh at yourselves and see how ridiculous you have made this.

  • @Sentenashi Just as I figured....no response, your only justification is the F-bomb. Great education you're getting over in Britannia. BTW, if Osama was still alive, don't you think he would've been on Al-Jazeera within a couple of days giving Obama the finger??? Think about it.....

  • @bigbeninjax And you sir have been successfully trolled. Patriots are always the easiest.

  • @Sentenashi And losers who define trolling as a 'success' will forever be sucking off the government's tit. Good luck, son, you're gonna need it.

  • @bigbeninjax Wow you really are angry that I used the words rule britannia aren't you. Go to bed child.

  • @Sentenashi And, your proof is.....?

  • Why is it that every Video of music that is posted on youtube is bombarded by comments of JB and other hateful, derogatory statements that have nothing to do with the presented video. Despite what people may think of America or other countries, this song should be taken for what it is, a beautiful piece of MUSIC. Written in the universal language of melodies and harmonies so hateful bastards can see past their own presumptions about the artist and simply enjoy something that is truly gorgeous.

  • you forgot the natives americans genocide, the slavery, the world biggest drug consumer , the place where there's more guns per person, the country with the biggest prision population....Anyway I want to travell there and know it better, but is not so perfect as you say

  • @xxxocolate I am glad you are smart and want to come see for yourself, because you will not see any of the things you mentioned when you get here. Every country has an ugly past if you dig back far enough. The Spaniards/Mexicans wiped out the Aztecs and Incas, the British called slavery "indentured servitude", go to Denmark for open drug use, go to Mexico, Africa or MidEast for open gun violence and beheadings. Go to China or North Korea for a prison population that is never heard from.

  • @xxxocolate As a non-American I say that despite any failings the United States is one of the very few nations founded on the concept of aiming for the best that humans can achieve and I support them to the limit.

We,all of us, might fail but as long as we try to be the best we can we have a moral superiority to those who subjugate their will to lesser ideals.

Die trying or die in shame.

  • @PilgrimWebster

you have succinctly made a proper, wonderful, and beautiful response. i salute you.

  • Nice video--thanks for posting. And for all the liberal/America-hating/commie dirtbags who have posted crap about my country here, kiss my red, white & blue ass!

  • Can we not enjoy music anymore? Geeze get a life ppl.

  • this song reminds me of FALLOUT 3 for some reason.

  • @A10tankkiller93 fallout 3 rules

  • @A10tankkiller93 it plays when you are hanging out in the courtyard of the citadel

  • Reading the comments on this video, it's amazing how many ignorant and hypocritical Keyboard Warriors there are. America's the worst! It's racist/greedy/evil/INSERT DUMBASS COMMENT HERE. I'm sure all of YOUR countries have been perfect little utopias for us ignorant, lazy stupid Americans to look up to right? Yeh, Europe, way to go! Because you didn't completely colonize and enslave the entire f**king world for centuries! You guys are right. No country but the US has ever done anything bad ever

  • In response to fergie123able:

Excuse me. WHO stopped Germany from taking over the world in WWI? WWII? WHO stopped Russia from spreading communism throughout Eastern Europe? WHO helped rebuild Europe's suffering economy after WWI with the Marshall Plan? Who liberated Kuwait? WHO defeated England, the most powerful (European) country in the world in 1783, when just 10 years earlier this country's army was a bunch of farmers? AMERICA! WE are the shining city on the hill. I am PROUD to be American.

  • @NathanMatau Who called Aaron Copland into interrogations for being a "Communist" under false accusations? Who MURDERED milliuons of people with nuclear weaponry? Who's running a tyrannical cascade across all of the Middle East?

Copland's music drastically changed after the Cold War. Because of his open homosexuality and liberal political views, he was no longer treated with the rights of the American citizens who chose to conform to the rigid lifestyle of the early Cold War. Think about that.

  • @sexybiznatchopera (clear throat) History lesson time, the United States has only used a nuclear weapon on an enemy twice, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now the explosions themselves killed about 220,000 thousand people combined. Since then about 80,000 more have died from the radiation. These numbers are far less than the "millions" that you claim. Not to mention that the Japanese during this time period were supporting the side that did kill millions of people. Make sure your facts are straight

  • @lebanonlinebacker Do you think that the only time nuclear power killed people is just in Japan? The government covered up their nuclear testing all over the US and in the Pacific. Either way 300,000 people dying from two incidents alone because of US douchebaggery is not okay. I just wish the previous "Go Amurikah" dude would have a little more humility in his blasphemous proclamations of US Imperialistic triumphs, which were not won solely with US military power.

  • @sexybiznatchopera Fact is over a million people(esp. Japanese civilians) would have died on either side if the Allies had used 'conventional' forces to invade the Japanese mainland to end a war they did not start. As it was the US had already lost over 100,000 in the Pacific. War is hell....bombs are hell...no matter what type. If you want to see real numbers, I suggest you google" World War 2 Casualties Wikipedia". 17 million Chinese alone died at the hands of the "imperialist"Japanese.

  • @fergie123able If you knew anything about history or culture you would know that this song is about the hard working individuals who built this country. Not what it has become. I agree that America has its problems, but to claim that "America's the worst" is perhaps the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. America is a good place to be and we are very fortunate. Yes there are problems, but instead of complaining on youtube, how bout we try fixing them. Sound good? Also, you are a stupid asshole

  • @ebesandives if you cant understand the sarcasm and satire in my "anti-american" comments, then you are truly a moron sir

  • @fergie123able damn straight

  • This songs gives hope to a bright and kindlier world filled with liberty and freedom. I always play this song when I reach the top of the mountain. Sad to see that some people just don't understand what America is about.

  • Good post. Very nice musical piece.

  • The song when Chuck Norris eats cereal

  • Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

  • @bigbeninjax I love this quote, and posted it on my status in facebook, only to be informed that..... ready for this?... it's not a real Thomas Jefferson quote. Apparently it's been incorrectly credited to him for some time now, but as the good people at snopes claim, it's a retroquote, which means that someone made up the quote and attributed it to some famous dead guy in order to mae a point. I don't think youtube will allow me to post the snopes URL. but go to snopes and cut and paste it.

  • @karinablacktie Excellent research! Seems the part about inflation/deflation is bogus but the rest is a paraphrase of a statement Jefferson made in a letter to John Taylor in 1816. He wrote, "And I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale". Interesting, too, the paraphrased quote dates from 1937! Thx!

  • glad you posted this . its been bouncing round my head since i left your place, it brings back good memories. antman & lesley

  • @ljwjfac110369 Yep, it's a great tune.....even without a David Gilmour solo!

  • Why is this titled America? You fucking arrogant scumbag.

  • @Sentenashi I suggest you read Ravenguar100's comments below...he summed it up pretty well without sounding like an f***ing arrogant scumbag like you just did.

  • @Sentenashi it was written about America's entry into ww2, BY an American. Learn your history before you shoot your mouth off prick

  • Hmmmm. How could I possibly fail to mention "Appalachian Suite?" Silly me.

  • The more I read of the slams against Americans for claiming Copland, the funnier it gets. All you have to do is LISTEN to Copland - try Rodeo, the Billy the Kid suite - and you can tell he is not a European composer. Copland has been known by anyone who knows music to be the originator of the essential American orchestral sound. And to hear all these Eurotrash puff up as if they are so cultured. What a joke.

  • For all you oh-so-cultured Eurotrash, Copland wrote this in the early days of the Second World War when the good guys were losing and the lights were going out all over the world. I like to think this was his way of raging at the dying of the light...

  • Um, break the 4: This has everything to do with America. Aaron Copland was an American. Among other things, he wrote Rodeo, the Billy the Kid suite and put the old shaker hymm "'Tis the Gift to be Simple" to a beautiful orchestral theme. You are, no doubt, another European who knows nothing about America while complaining that Americans know nothing about Europe. Too bad for you.

  • Absolutely beautiful. All I can think when I hear this is a group of Soldiers coming home.

  • They should show this to new immigrants. . .

  • @breakthe4 american composer

  • While listening to this, I was reading aloud the Gettysburg Address. I feel like Abe Lincoln...

  • @kUhLaChEcKa Sorry you don't like the song....maybe Copland should have added a few fat Wagnerian women screaching like Banshees to the ending to appeal to your German ears.

  • @bigbeninjax haha! good guy! :D

  • @bigbeninjax Copland is truly one of the great American composers, and his music has a "Hollywood Western" aura to it, reminds us of the great West. Dreams, unbounded possibilities. America is the great experiment of western civilization that succeeded.

  • @micflor531313 Let's hope it continues...it seems there's a group in Washington that are hellbent on ending that experiment.

  • @micflor531313 I agree. Copland created the tone for America's "western" sound in film and TV. Oddly enough, he had to depart from the influence of his composition teacher, Rubin Goldmark in order to follow that musical vision.

Goldmark was a student of Antonin Dvorak (Czech Republic) - so in a way, Europe gave Aaron Copland his foundation. His American experience inspired him to go to the next level and create masterpieces like this Fanfare.

And music lovers everywhere win... :)

  • @nightswimmer99 Very well said. Thanks for the great comment.

  • @kUhLaChEcKa fock off man, i'm belgian and I study culture, and I find this song also great

  • @kUhLaChEcKa Culture? It IS apart of our culture. Just as you (where ever you are from) boast about composers of your country, we have the same right. To say that Americans find this "song" great just shows how uneducated you are, seeing how this is a piece without words. I feel sorry for whatever country has you as its spokesperson. Poor...wherever you're from.

  • @kUhLaChEcKa That you would spend your time denegrating OUR culture shows that you obviously have none.

  • @kUhLaChEcKa what nationality are you?

  • @kUhLaChEcKa this song is awesome

  • Great tune. Good image of america but never forget that almost all white americans originate from: Scotland, england, ireland, wales and france

  • how is there a dislike button....USA Freedom!!!

  • I don't care about bleedin' politics or. . .what anyone else says.

The bloody music's damn awesome and that's alright with me.

  • The meaning of America is freedom of choice. It is as simple as that. You can come to America and are free to do whatever you want, as long as you do not impair the freedom of another.

Capitalism is not about rich men staying rich, or total equality. It is about equal chance. You are given the same chance as everyone else and what is done with it is what matters. Nothing is given to you, and nothing is taken from you-- you get exactly what you deserve.

  • @B3D14 Thank you so much....you have summed up what everyone has come to America for.....that is the best thing I have ever read on Youtube. Thank you, again.

  • @bigbeninjax A country with more abuse of human rights than any other country in this world. But as long as it is America, nobody dares to say and do sth. Its a shame.

  • @kUhLaChEcKa Hmmm, let's see. Stalin, Lenin, Khrushev, your boy Hitler, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Saddam and Uday and Qusay, and now let's add Ben Ali of Tunisia, Mubarak of Egypt, Hamas and Hezbollah, Ahmindeninutjob in Iran who still stones women for adultery, and the rest of the Arab world where women are treated worse than dogs. Apparently "no one dares to say s**t" about their abuses either in your world...and THAT'S a shame.

  • The purpose of this country is to set up a haven for the corporatocracy that rules the world. The problem with capitalism is that once the resources have been gathered up by the first people there (that happened over a century ago), they then take their profits and donate to politicians who pass laws that help their donors' interests, and the lowly peasantry get crapped upon. It most definitely is about rich men staying rich. Go try and drill for oil. Build a factory. Good Luck!

  • If only American politics were as beautiful as its music...

  • What's the song that starts at about 2:09?

  • @xJxExRxExMxYx It's part of a song I wrote and recorded called "A Sailor's Journey".

  • @bigbeninjax It's pretty cool. :)

  • @xJxExRxExMxYx Thanks, I really appreciate that. Nice architecture in your downtown and esp courthouse....reminds me of Flagler's buildings in St. Augustine. Cheers! BB

  • @bigbeninjax Thanks. :) There was a fire today in our square, though. Burned down 4 buildings that were over 100 years old. One was a barber shop that's been open for over 75 years. :(

  • @xJxExRxExMxYx Oh, man, so sorry to hear of the loss. I just watched a TV news report on it. Very, very sad to lose that much history. Most everyone has heard of the Chisholm Trail and now a part of it is gone.

  • In the Memorial service @ University Arizona (Tempe), on Wednesday Jan. 13, opened w/ "fanfare for common man"

  • @delbard1 Interesting, I was not aware it opened with this song....continues the theme of this video nicely. Obama did a nice job with his speech, but the cheering, tee shirts, and pep rally atmosphere did not seem appropriate at a eulogy. Also, it's a shame he hasn't put this at least this much effort into healing the bigger problem of violence and murders along our southern border.

  • @bigbeninjax if you noticed, Obama wanted to keep the theme a memorial, but the students @ Az University wanted to make it a pep rally. Violence in America is NOT only along the U.S. Mexican border. In many urban areas, gun violence is chronic. In 2009, TEA baggers brought sidearms to many town hall meetings. Freud said a gun is a phallic symbol.

  • @delbard1 Urban violence has ALWAYS been chronic, but the violence on the border is new and Obama (and to some extent even Bush) has done absolutely nothing to stop it and even filed lawsuits to prevent the states from doing his and Napolitano's job. Phoenix is now the kidnapping capital of the world (after Mexico City) and Obama would not even come to Arizona at the governor's request....but he has made 11 trips to Ohio to politic for his Party....and THAT is a shame.

  • @bigbeninjax And did anyone get shot at any town hall meetings? No. There are sidearms around you on a daily basis but you don't see them because of concealed weapons permits and the Second Amendment. It's unfortunate that no one at the Safeway had one or many less people would have gone to the hospital or died. Freud also said a cigar was a phallic symbol and he was routinely pictured with one.

  • God bless the U.S. and screw the rest!!!!

  • Love this masterpiece! Love my country the United States of America! The good far outweighs the bad...the greatest nation ever.

  • I get so tired of hearing that Amearicans can't call themselves "Americans" because Argentina or Costa Rica or Canada or whatever are also "Americans."

    Wrong.

The United States of America is the only country on either North or South America to have "America" as part of its name.

    Get over it.

  • @Ravenguard100 By the way, Your country was named *Vinland in year 1000, and I cant understand why they changed the name later. What about The United States of Vinland? *Written on old maps from year 1000 to 1600

  • @tokkeification Good question. I suppose it's for the same reason we don't call Germany as Prussia, or Congo as Zaire, or Vietnam as French Indo-China, or Iraq as Babylon....times change, and to the victors go the spoils....and the right to name themselves. Maybe one day when Jean Luc Picard is president, we'll all just call ourselves Earthlings?

  • America? America is not just the United States of America. America is made up of several countries. From Canada to Argentina.

  • @cezariuscezarius It would be fine with me if the people of Canada or Argentina were contained within the sentiment of this video; however, Copland did not write the song for Argentina and, also, people who live in the United States of America are known the world over as "Americans".....not United Statesans, or whatever.

  • @bigbeninjax

actually...if you go to spain and say that your from america...they will ask which country...."America" is composed of north and south america....and even more technically...each state is its own country...and they from a union..the UNITED STATES of (THE) Americas....being a union of states that lie within the american continents...but yea were called americans cuz its easy.

  • 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton

  • @bigbeninjax

"You don't win a war by dying for your country. You win by making the other poor bastard die for his!"

    -General George S. Patton :D

  • @bigbeninjax Quote, "Also, please remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifices so that we may have our freedoms." I find it odd that you use Fanfare for the Common Man from Aaron Copland to show American freedom. Considering the fact that Arron Copland was part of the Communist Party USA during the 1936 presidential election. Other wise nice video.

  • @8vaharke Thanks, you bring up a good question. However, the video is really about the song and the title, not the man. Ironically, Copland wrote this during WW2 as a patriotic song, His other titles for the piece were "Fanfare for a Solemn Ceremony, for the Day of Victory, for Our Heroes, for the Rebirth of Lidice, for the Spirit of Democracy, for the Paratroops, for Four Freedoms."

  • @bigbeninjax That is good to know. Still blows my mind that he was in the Communist party at the time.

  • Funny... I never knew Richard Simmons was a conductor... lol

  • The most complete story i've seen so far on America, thanks, Ben!!!

  • @HalooftheMuse Thanks, Muse. Great to see you here. Hope you have a great Christmas and I look forward to more of your thespian gifts in the new year.

  • Nice one Ben

  • @WhenIrishEyes Hey, Rick! Good to hear from ya. Hope is all well with you and family....and don't forget, you're running out of time to ship my Christmas present overseas! LOL Cheers, auld friend.

  • @bigbeninjax you too , youre running out time to ship MY present hehe maybe we should just count on auld santa to bring us our presents. A merry christmas to you and yours

  • @WhenIrishEyes I hear ya. Unfortunately, I find as I get older, I can depend on auld St. Nick less and less for presents. C'est la vie.

  • @bigbeninjax I know what you mean, Ben Santa seems to remember the young un´s only which is fair I suppose

  • Why cut off Fanfare for the Common Man in the middle???

THAT'S THE NAME OF THE VIDEO!

Not some bogus electronic Yanni stuff.

  • @ltyr2001 Objection noted. Not trying to sound arrogant, but because it's MY channel, MY video, MY interpretation of Copland's thoughts, and MY music in the middle....I CAN. However, you are quite welcome to produce a better video of "Fanfare" and I will be glad to post it here as a video response.

  • @bigbeninjax well, you DO have the right to post whatever you want, but you DO NOT have the right to misrepresent a copyrighted title. If the work being performed is not Aaron Copland's, then you DO NOT have the right to present it under the title "Fanfare for the Common Man"...and since that copyright was renewed in 2000, you won't have that right until 2095.

Not that it's bad...it's just illegal.

  • @rfwbuck Hmmm, thanks for the info. I don't claim to be an expert in copyright laws but I do hold a few, too. But, so far, the copyright disclaimer I put in the notes has sufficed with the YT police. If not, I guess this video and about 70% of Youtube will be coming down soon. Thanks for the heads-up, tho.

  • @bigbeninjax very true. i have no idea how youtube survives.

  • So beautiful music !!

What is the name of the piano part In the middle?! It's not fanfare for the common Man I'd Like to know just the référence of the music please!!

  • @Miloothousandwolves Thank you very much. You are correct. The middle section is one of my own pieces titled "A Sailor's Journey".

  • Skip to 0:27 if you want to just get straight to the music.

  • @SinnFein4ever Some tympani players might disagree with you.... ;-)

  • Shhh.. We are trying to listen to the beautiful music!

  • if this video is all about Copland & music ,than why all the un necessary text in it ?

USA,land of the people?YE-ah.esp now, when they took half of your civil rights bc of the "terrorists".about giving up things;I dont even own a plasma or ps lmao. you do. would you give it up? Your nation is so easy to manipulate with media, its sad & thats why the patriotic text on this song is disgusting me.After all you guys believe people from CAVES are responsible for 9/11 . wake up.

  • People like this are annoying. Hating the U.S and grouping people as "typical Americans" doesn't make you look cool, smart, or classy. If people aren't proud of their roots and aren't ready to defend their homeland, then there is something wrong with them. Some of you seem like real jackasses, getting on the internet just to diss the US. All I wanted to do was hear the work of the greatest American Composer who ever lived, but no, I have to deal with reading your bullshit. Piss off

  • @HunterCook15 Well liberal pussies have cried and removed the enjoyment of listening to a great song. I played this and 2 other songs back in high school for marching band. Much shorter of course, but still sounded cool. This version is definitely better

  • who gives damn, this is an beautiful video and you ruins it with your bullshit political comments!

  • im pretty sure they used this song in Medal of Honour. great song

  • Shut up man, America is pretty cool

  • *looks down* Why are people arguing about politics when the video celebrates what unifies us? Live and let live and (perhaps more importantly) enjoy the music!

Beautiful pictures of the US by the way:)

What's your favorite national park? Mine is Grand Teton Natl Park in Wyoming.

  • @theearthadorned My favorite comment here ever! Exactly the point of the video...about a song, a country, and a man who tried to unify by celebrating what is 'COMMON' among us. Yet, person after person comes here trying to be divisive by pointing out our differences.

Hard to pick a fave national park. Grand Canyon for vistas, Bryce for interesting, and Grandfather Mtn for hiking. OK, Grandfather for its hiking and serene views. Thanks!

  • @bigbeninjax I agree! One can enjoy Copeland's music w/o forcing a connection between the music and any nationality, country, or ideology. It's like nature--you can't make it submit to any political ideology. Or to be specific, one can TRY to politicize Copeland's music, but that's just rigidly trying to impose one's own subjective values and biases on the other listener, who has an enjoyment of the music w/o even thinking of any country or ideology. Music is eternal, nations are temporary.

  • @billjomes "Music is eternal, nations are temporary"....great line, billjomes. Darn, guess I'm going to have to like you after all. LOL. Sometimes words are the best WMD. ;-)

  • @bigbeninjax With all due respect to both the "COMMON" and the "DIFFERENCES" I believe the "Common" dream in America is wanting the best, and in many cases, it's the freedom of being able to be "Different" that makes America as beautiful as it is. Because in America, we as citizens are encouraged to follow our dream as we see it, not as someone else dictates how it should be.

  • @marshmelloman1977 Well said, my friend. I am all for the idea of America as 'the great melting pot' as long as everyone that wants to come here wish to use their differences to contribute to the common good. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

  • @theearthadorned may not count, but Arlington National Cemetery, it's a silent, serious, and solemn place to go

  • @lgmmrm and Arlington Cemetery is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen around early April when the cherry blossoms come out. The views back towards downtown DC are awe inspiring. It figures prominently in one of my other videos "Musical Flowers". Thanks for the reminder.

  • Three cheers for gay men! Hurrah for Oscar Wilde. Yay for Freddie Mercury. Hands in the air for all of ancient Greece - the makers of our civilization!

  • @bobbygnosis Please see my reply to SamWise. Also, since OUR civilization appears to have flourished and is going down the tubes in 200 years like the ancient Greeks, then one could presume the reason for our demise is because of a gay influence???

  • @bigbeninjax But what else is there? We live and we die. Civilizations rise and fall. I'm having a pretty good time and my friends and family are making it nice for me - gay and straight alike. Hitler tried to blame all of societies woes on a group or two and it didn't work out. He didn't catch on that you need to embrace life and your fellow man. Helping hands is the whole point of civilization. Any mother can tell you that.

And so, I redouble my cheers. Hurrah to you, good sir!

  • @bobbygnosis Excellent answer! It is the common man that makes any civilization great. It is the leaders who point that civilization in one direction or another, for better or worse. It is up to the character of the common man, or 'helping hands' as you say, of that civilization to keep it on the right course. Cheers!
