@black4rt I have had same problems before with every Linux distro I have tried. I have spend so much time, that I thought that building my own LFS system was impossible, even though I had a brand new Intel Core i3 computer with 8gb memory and 500gb hard drive. Then I came across the LFScript.org live CD and it worked perfectly! The problem with other Linux distros is that the root privileges are either messed up or changed so that you are not able to compile LFS correctly. Good luck!
how are you getting past the /.bash_profile and.bashrc mine tells me that it cannot create the temp files because there is no space on device. do you have any clue how to fix that error?
Is There A followup on These videos soon? If not, I will have to make a full series myself as There lacks videos on this topic. Is There any easy way to Get kde or gnome or whatever on lfs?
I found this mentioned on forums, since there isn't any output or feedback when Setting Up Environment command use this command "cat .bash_profile" (no quotes) to show you if it worked, the output will be (if it worked) the line: exec env -i HOME=$HOME .... etc
Thank you itsBrad121 for the very helpful series of videos. I am looking forward to the nest ones on Linux From Scratch. What I found very helpful is seeing the commands entered and the directory from which they were entered. Showing the full path you are in would be even more helpful in future videos. Very best to you, teacher1st1
i also thought that was the problem but the link is there and $LFS is also set up. if I ls $LFS/tools right after the install i can see them, although not with dolphin. but now for instance i cannot see them with ls $LFS/tools anymore. they are all in /tools.. weird
when I was to compile binutils with make an error "make file error", please help!
I use ubuntu 10
