good performance only the hard and rough beginning doesnt leave much room for nuancial expansion at the climax.

very little variation in volume though that could be the piano that has no response.

What I REALLY like about this performance is that this just about the only one that plays this in 7/8 instead of 14/8. He is one of the few pianists to catch the fantastic rocking motion as the meter shifts from hand to hand. It's especially noticeable at the beginning and contributes to the rhythmic intensity of this piece. Bravo for that. I still prefer a tempo that can be sustained to the very end without either (a) slowing down or (b) hitting a lot of wrong notes - few pianists manage that.

Very impressive, but I agree that the dynamics can be improved upon.

It's a bit loud for my taste but then I've grown accustomed to the way Gyorgy Sandor and Glenn Gould play it--two very different interpretations. As long as the performance is exciting as this one is it's ok by me.
