I´ve the same amp. For play metal with it, i recomend to use that with a tube preamp or a good eq . also a good cab is important and noise gate. if you add this 2 things you can get an EXCELLENT metal tone.

I was told that Switchblades did not get a good meta tone, I don't believe that anymore, sounds awesome.

@69nicoboy Switchblade can do metal tones, but there are better amps for the job. The kind of ones that do it just as well or better with less knob tweaking. You need to have good pickups on your guitar, a good speaker cabinet and you need to spend some time with the controls to get a decent metal tone from Switchblade, because it's sort of an all-rounder. IMO easier to get an ENGL or the Coreblade if you want instant death metal tones.

Glad I bit down an bought this amp. I purchased the TSC version so that I won't have to get it biased and can load it in with 6L6's. I also purchased a Warp-X. Can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow.

If you're looking for a switchblade, they're awesome amps and you can get them brand new for like 800-900 bucks on ebay and through a few dealers.

@guerri89 I run a peavey valveking. It keeps up without a problem. My other guitar player runs a mesa dual rectifier and like i said the valveking keeps up no problem.

@guerri89 yeah i play a vk100 head through a carvin cab with celestions. the only pedal i use is a boss ns-2. Peavey 23 III with emg 81 bridge and emg 60 neck with an emg 20db gain boost built in. But yeah people don't give it a chance because it is a cheap amp. The thing is there are pro's who play the valveking. Check out Lenore from tacoma, wa. Thier guitar player uses a valveking as well.

@Valtron4040 i sure will check them, i play it whit a ltd viper 400 with an emg 85 on the bridge and an 81 on the neck, going trough a tc electronic nova system with 3 presets, different output volumes to manage the valves saturation, a bit of overdrive as a tube screamer, compressor/sustainer, noise gate, reverbs, with this simple setting i now have a 3 channel amp...

@Valtron4040 i had the combo version and although it was great for blues and some rock tones, it was pretty god awful at metal. i think out of that series the 100 watt head is the only one that can do metal.

@jordanzio yeah i would agree with you on that one. I also realized a lot of it comes from your speakers as well. for a while i was playing a fender cab with stock fender speakers and i just wasn't getting the umph i needed. I switched a Carvin Legacy cab and now I able to keep up with mesa and engls no problem. I dunno it all comes down to personal preference and being a musician on a budget i had to go with what i could afford and what would perform fairly well

@reticle36 though i am somewhat of a marshall fan, you can NEVER get them to have the same style of tone as the amps this guy demos, he did a jvm once and it sounded horrible compared to this, though marshall has an eq all of their own, and you have to know how to eq a marshall

i have used this amp a lot in the past, and i just have one question for you. did you do any sort of editing/filtering/gating to get rid of the effects background noise. i've found that whenever i use it, i cant seem to completely shut off the effects section, and you can always hear it, yet on your recording, i didnt hear it at all. how did you do this?
