wrong! the chip gives ur engine false information/numbers telling yout engine that the air going into your engine is cold air instead of hot air. therefore giving your engine false numbers and making it run harder can hurt your engine and causing it to get to hot or over heat
now if you wanted to you could just scrape the hot glue off and read what size that resistor is and just go to radioshack and get one and put it in line wherever them directions say then hotglue that one back in and reasemble it and return it to get your 40 back then you will have only spent about 1 dollar.
Actually that little resistor does more than you think. You just got suckered into paying to much for the same as a 5 dollar one. every vehicle that comes from the factory is tuned to run rich. so for each model the dyno the cars and tune them to where the run just right. and each chip for each model is a little different. that resistor retards your computer system so it leans the motor out just enough to run perfect, thus giving you alot more power and better milage.
