As for those who still break the egg trying to cut holes in chicken eggs, practice, practice makes perfect :-) Do not place holes too close to each other unless your a math wizard and can calculate surface durability equation versus ratio of density formula lmao! Keep this thought in mind, leave equal space between holes to keep good bridge strength ;-)
I am an egg artist too and I still find blowing yolk out gross and almost makes me gag lmao! Now I use a baby syringe to do blowing for me :) The secret to removing membrane from chicken is easy, works on all eggs as well: simply dip egg in Clorox beach bath for 30 to an hour and this process dissolves the membrane and leaves it spanking clean with no rough edges either :-)
What model Dremel do you use? I am shopping around for one for egg art, but do not want to purchase one which is too weak or (on the other hand) WAY to powerful. Thanks!
To remove the membrane a lot easier than picking it, try a solution of bleack and water and soak the drilled egg in it for a while. Test how long it takes the membrane to disolve though in case the egg goes too :) Should work ok.
Oh my god. : D If that works, that's going to be the best tip I have ever learned! I love drilling eggs, but the membrane is so hard to deal with.
I love you, I love you, I love you! :D I will be trying this out as soon as things settle down next month. Eee, I can't wait! I'd love to be able to make a lot of eggs.
Sorry for the long delay in reply. I was on maternity leave! As for not breaking... hmm... Well, all I can say is that it takes a very gentle pressure. Let the spinning of the drill do most of the work and press as lightly as you can to make a hole. It's hard to be more specific without watching you do it to see if there's something happening. Maybe you could record a video?
No, I don't think so. The goose egg that I'm showing still has the membrane skin in it is over a year old. It doesn't smell or show any signs of rot. I think it dries out so quickly that there's nothing left in it to really decompose. Still, I think it's important to making it look finished and clean to pull the membrane out. It's easy when it's fresh on a goose egg, but I haven't tried chicken. I don't know if a clear coat would help, but if you try it, let us know!
Kidding. It's a smile. Like ^___^ is a smile, so is n....n It's just with the eyes lower and a small 'mouth'.
I'm glad you are glad I made another one. n.n YAY! Woo! I'll try to keep making them more regularly. My hands just got really sore and I had to take time off work and videos and stuff and just heal up. : )
Have you? I'd like to see some pictures of other eggs like this, if you have it. I'm sure my dad and I weren't the first people to think to do this, but I've never actually seen any other drilled eggs before and it'd be cool to see what other people are doing with it! <33
Well, I suppose you can either look at it as taxing, or meditative, depending on if you're a positive person or not. XD It'd be quite an interesting experiment to try to figure out how to remove the inner skin without damaging the shell though. Someone out there in watcher-land should do it. :D
Awwr. ;...; Why not do it yourself and offer him to join in? n.n You know, I'd love if you'd ask your gran how she cleans out the inner skin from the egg. I'm not sure my method is very good. Maybe she has some trick! I'd love to know if she'd be willing to share. n....n!
Very good! n.n My dremel tool is usually used for eggs or cleaning up shrink plastic. I'm not actually sure too many other things to do with it. I should look up projects for it! n.n
you are darling! thank you so much !

ahh I've been trying to do this for ages but the egg keeps breaking on me especially when I try to drill holes close to each other :(
is there anything I can use to stop it from breaking so much?

This is awesome! But if you don't get all of the membrane out, won't it become rotten? Would using something like clear coat help?
