Please lord don't show your anger torrows us.....Please let people know you are lord>>Please don't let our nation be in ruins......Pray for us........Look after us...AMEN..................
The divisiveness and nitpicking on this board is completely counter to the spirit of Christ and the purpose of both Hillside and Passion's mission - to glorify God.
If people feel stifled and are complaining because they need a forum to run down a fellow Christian, that's pretty sad. Ask yourself why you feel the need to vent such comments publicly. Validation of your musical acumen? Whatever, it's not worth the cost. Rethink, pray and act accordingly.
ok so here's my vote in the midst of all of this... it really isn't about the music. In fact, the way God is working... He's on the move to MERGE movements. Passion 07, Chris sang a bunch of Hillsong songs like Inside Out, Mighty to Save, Fire fall Down. Louie spoke at a hillsong conference on year and a hillsong sponsered women's conference. So let God be God and just follow Him and blessings will come automatically...
worship isn't music remember... it's a life lived.....
i believe its nothinig to do with how "good" a musician you are. in a bible study i used to go to there was a guy there who couldnt sing to save his life (you would avoid sitting next to him in church cuse hed do yer head in in worrship) and could barely play the guitar, but when he led us in praise i tell ya the anointing of God took the roof off the place. Gods power is shown in our weakness.
I can tell all of yall that when you're in the crowd at Passion those things don't matter. You're there to worship God and you loose yourself in praising his glory. Musicianship doesn't matter. Even a guitar player like me doesn't bother to pay attention to that kind of thing.
what bothers me is that somehow because they are christian artists we can't discuss their musicianship. please people. it is also their occupation. just like anything else... there is good and bad. sure... all means well, but get all mad when i say i like brooke's better. they're both musicians... and i can compare them if i want. i never said anything about the way they worship.
personally, i dont care for any of the musicianship in this song. sounds like imitation too much. not original.
yeah, I agree it's pretty similar to how hillsong does it. what I notice though is that chris has a feel that's partly close to how they play. so, I think it's the style of the band, they play very similar to hillsong. Now, if crowder did it, it would probably sound really weird. That's just their style. And that's okay too, I think. Not everyone listens to/likes Hillsong, and so if it's similar, then people might hear brooke's version and realize that Hillsong's not that bad. and that's okay.
quick line to curt02k1, i agree that you can nitpick worship from a music standpoint. if you don't, your band won't ever improve. i get that, but it makes worshipping hard sometimes too because you miss jesus for the "crap band." i just think it's a dangerous thing to make blanket statements like "hillsong is the who god uses most powerfully" because it comes across as "god loves hillsong more than everyone else" which isn't true. i don't think that's what you meant, but it comes across weird.
The debate over who is better misses the whole point. Paul in scripture addresses this issue of not comparing one pastor, church, etc.. to another and says we are not to do it.
Besides I listen passionately to noth Passion and Hillsong United- and they are both good.
yes...as bad as it sounds you can nitpick worship sets from a musical standpoint. being a musician thats what you naturally do. im not saying that they arent using theyre gifts or w/e...but when people who have no clue wat they are talking about try to compare this to hillsong united it just kind of angers me. is that wrong? i think not.
who cares if they compare hillsong to passion? Is Hillsong so supremely more superior to Passion? Does God bless Hillsong more than Passion ministries? God can do whatever he wants. just because you know some stuff about music dont get all huffy puffy because someone wants to compare the two ministries. Both are doing works of God, thats good enough for me. As long as it advances the kingdom while focusing on the cross of Christ. Thats all that matters.
i agree...however i think that passion is beginning to outdate itself...hillsong united's ministry is absolutely the most powerful thing God is using in the world right now. from a musical standpoint..brooke fraser really does make this song she is a much better vocalist that nockels...thats just how it is im sorry if you disagree. also...michaely guy and jad gillies guitar parts really outdo this track as well. oh well.
how is passion outdating itself? They have begun to spark a revival across America. Hillsong barely comes up from down under. Now Passion is going on this world tour. Bringing the Passion and fire of God to countries where this type of worship has NEVER happened. Like China for instance. They are also making a stop in Sydney. Possibly Passion and Hillsong could join together? Which would be sweet! Passion is following Matthew 28:19-20
I don't get why people argue or debate who sings better? That's just messed and who blows, instead of doing so, we're all Christians, we should not be like the world and comparing artists of who sucks and what not, instead jsut praise God for these artists that have started such a great ministry to glorify His Name. God Bless
dont get me wrong, i love christy nockles... but come on. you can't dis brooke fraiser like that. Brooke is amazing. not only her voice but her song writing too.
not dissing her at all. brooke frasier has an amazing voice as well. but there is something about the way that Christy sings it, she sings it with such power and conviction and passion. You can literally tell from her voice that she feels this way. I just dont hear it when I hear brooke sing it. She is an amazing singer though. I love Hillsong ministries.

does it really matter? they are praising the same God, and THAT is all that matters. imitation or original, whatever. God doesn't care.

Im sorry, I was in Passion Chicago and heard Christy singing this song. She blows whoever sings the Hillsong version out of the water.
Christy Nockles and Chris Tomlin are perfect together when they sing!
