  • THANK YOU for making this vid!! Coal Miner's Daughter is one of my all time favorite films. Great work!! Sissy Spacek is absolutely amazing! Her talent blows me away!!!

  • Good Video I liked the picture in Tubbs record shop with Sissy and my uncle Rusty Adams, when he was playing for Ernest Tubb, in my videos I have a Video when Rusty (AKA) Koko the song Little Rosa Back when Rusty played with Web Pierce .

    GigaMixer's Channel

  • Im related to loretta lynn :)

  • Sissy is a great actress, and an even better singer. She sang all the songs herself. She sounds alot like Loretta. Wish she would have come out with some albums.

  • @purrinkitty1973 :She came out with an album in 1983 titled "Hangin' up my heart" it has alot of great songs on there!

  • linda cancion y hermoso lo que dice..............:) podria estar traducida al español paraq todos podamos disfrutar de su signifikado hermosoooooooooo

  • Since that movie I love Sissy. Brilliant actress great singer big voice. That movie makes Loretta very wellknown all over the world. This two Ladies takes me back to the real country (folk) music.

  • I once watched her and Nick Nolte film a scene together. The story and clips are at "My Life in San Francisco (1989) pt 2".

  • Man I remember watching this during my English Lit. class.

Good movie-but my teacher was so into the movie; a transplant from Kentucky.

and what go into details about the movie and the actress-Snow Peak Falls, Tx to Ms. Lynn's Butcher Hollow, Ky upbringings.

    Scary....

  • Good Gracious, I have always enjoyed this rendition more than Loretta Lynn's. Proof that Sissy Spacek is an outstanding actress!

  • I think Sissy does it the best. :-)

  • In my opinion, she did a great job acting the role of LORETTA LYNN, but even though

Sissy has a passable singing voice, it does not compare with Loretta's actual early singing voice - she doesn't have Loretta's vibrato or strong singing style. I was always a little surprised that they didn't maybe try to mesh Loretta's own voice with Sissy's. I don't mean this in a critical way, for I think that Sissy really deserved the Oscar for this role. I just think Loretta's own voice is stronger.

  • I like her voice better than original loretta

  • Was she the one who played Stephen kings Carrie

  • @ashleytittle1322 : Yes she was and even got an oscar nomination for the role of Carrie White

  • Sissy did an excellant job playing and singing "Loretta's" Part... :)

  • I read Loretta Lynn's book, "Coal Miner's Daughter" and she said they gave her a private showing of the movie and she cried for 2 straight hours and "wanted to kill Sissy for singing as good or better than me" but she loved Sissy and loved the movie because it was so real to her and done so well.

  • @showtuneful Aww!

  • I think she sings this love even better than Loretta Lynn ... Hats off Sissy Spacek!

  • Sissy Spacek in this movie is just great.. I like her songs more than the originals

  • and her mann stood by , her all and all!!!! dats whats im talkin about!!

  • Love Lorretta, she makes this song so meaningful

  • Sissy hace mas de 30 años que eres mi sueño imposible.

  • what a tribute to Loretta Lyn, what a fantastic Movie sissy did such a great job i was almost beginning to believe she was Loretta Lyn :)

  • I love this movie and Sissy !

  • I love this song AND the movie. Kudos Sissy*****

  • Sissy is great.

As actress .....& now I KNOW she would kick azzz as singer too.

    Just love her !

    :)

  • @BalZenMK : I love her too and YES she would kick ass as a singer totally agreed!

  • Out standing!!!!! Sissy once again you hve proved you are a Shining Star!!!!

  • I agree with oneboud I think that Loretta sang it better just because its her song and the first version is always the one preffered, but Spacek is also a fantastic singer and does all of Loretta's songs fabulously so she could sing if she really desired but her acting is phenonmenal and i'm glad she chose that path.

  • According to Loretta's "Still Woman Enough" book; she felt Sissy did all of the songs; EXCEPT Coal Miners Daughter very well. Loretta didn't care for Sissy's verson of Coal Miners. Loretta hand picked Sissy for the role and commented about it on Johnny Carson before Sissy even knew. Has anyone seen Loretta's version of "Me and Bobby McGee"?

  • I love this song, and the movie also

  • I don't think Sissy sings better than Loretta, but I do think she is on the same level and could have been a country singer if she wasn't such a damn good actress.

  • @onebaud :i agree with that, sissy used to tease loretta and say she was going to get a tour bus and go on the road as loretta lynn the 2nd,this is told by sissy on the commentary on the dvd of coal miners daughter

  • @crazydude730 I like Loretta but I think Sissy did a way better job on that one "that was realy her singing"

  • @onebaud "On the same level"? You must have tin ears. If Loretta had sung like Spacek, we would never have heard of her today. She would have been a successful bar singer at best. Loretta had magic in her voice. Spacek is merely a good singer. However, good singers are a dime a dozen. Everyone knows someone who can sing well, but few people know someone who skyrocketed straight to the top, and stayed there for quite some time. It takes more than being able to sing on key to become a legend.

  • @MaximRecoil Agree 100%!

  • one of my favorite movies

  • This is good, a lot of shots not in the movie, Thank you.

  • To my ear the musicians on the movie Coal MIner's Daughter, are better than Loretta's band.

  • @SunsetSix ...the band used in the movie is Loretta's band, they were used for the movie!

  • I like both versions

  • this is my all time fav.song of loretta lynn thats all i can say

  • @ SusDgs

no she does not sing better the Loretta.

i mean shes good and all but not that goood.

  • did he really beat her like they said in the tabliots???????????she to good for that

  • its a great movie but what isnt great is how the coal companies force people to die from black lung.

  • In the beginning, the makers of this film asked Loretta Lynn what actress she would like to see to portray her. Loretta replied "Sissy Spacek". When Sissy got the contract, Loretta trained Sissy to sing her style. Loretta is still Queen of Country music.

  • I like sissy's voice better than Loretta's

  • @macroevolve no wayyyyyy/. loretta is a legend.

  • @macroevolve Me Too:)

  • awesome ....

  • I read an interview with Loretta and when they got to talking about the movie, she said that some days she'd leave the set and go home and smack Doo in the head because of something that she recalled during the filming

  • @MrRickycurry nobody says you all it's ya'll especially down South you must be a yankee

  • 1:17 Levon Helm who played Lorettas father in the movie is the lead singer of "the band"

  • what a great movie,it's been a long time since i watched it,didn't sissy win an academy award for that?

  • @fourtriangles2112 yes she did and also got a gold record for the movie's soundtrack as well

  • This was the very picture show I ever saw. We saw it at a drive-in in Midland, Texas. Sissy, indeed do a great job as Ms. Loretty... To me she's the Queen of Country Music.

  • Awesome movie and the songs are mint too sing too im 28 and all my life grew up with this and other counrty music and they great i love old and new music but the older the better :)

  • Ol' Tommy Lee never got a lot of props for this film but he really helped to make this film complete. The whole scene about the "horny" thing is still one of the funniest things ever.

  • hard to believe this movie is 30 years old..sounds great today..

  • Beverly DeAngelo did an awsome job singing Patsy Cline songs herself too.

  • I saw this movie when in first came out in my early teens, its just as good today when its on tv and i never miss it

  • loretta is my great aunt

  • She did a heck of a job on this movie and the music is wonderful. Love this.

  • sissy spack brillant

  • The pic at 1:14 is nice. I like the way they look!

  • Very nice!! I love this movie too! My favorite scene is where Sissy Spacek as Loretta sings for the first time in public. The song was "There He Goes". I found this clip on Youtube and play it over and over.. I also watch the movie every time it's on TV.

  • WRONG! She helped Sissy learn her songs.

  • There couldn't have been a better one to play Loretta Lynn than Sissy Spacek

  • Sissy was brilliant is this movie!

  • it way before my time but man do i love to hear ti\his song :) lol i wanna meet ms. sissy spacek!

  • SHe definately did the part a great justice! Nobody could have done it better! They sound ALMOST just alike..

  • LOved the part where she ask Dew who the sow was in the movie I would have loved to really seen Loretta Lynn get after some woman..

  • I grew up loving this movie. It makes me think of my wonderful Granny, she wasn't a singer but she was a coal miners daughter. My greatest times with her was talking to her about her childhood growing up in coal towns a hard life most people could hardly understand now. On another note Sissy Spacek was so beautiful in those early pics from the movie.

  • Sissy does it for me. This is fantastic. Great movie it was. Thanks for posting it.

  • most of the pics i found online or on the dvd of coal miners daughter during the loretta lynn interview

  • @crazydude730 nice job on the vid. thank you for putting it together

  • Did you put this together? Most of those pics are not in the movie.

  • Lovely and amazingly talented Sissy Spacek.

  • My mother was a Coalminers Daughter.NE PA. During the big depression my grandma died from cancer leaving behind9 kids from 6 months to 17 years old. So you can guess my grandpa, the coalminer, had his hands full. He raised a bunch of great kids, and since I live in MI we would go there in the summers to visit. And sure as hell when we got with the cousins we would go and play in the abandoned coalmines. The only place they told us not to!!! I'm proud to be a cOALMINERS Granddaughter!!!

  • 5 star movie

  • Loretta Lynn and Sissy Spacek: both classics! I love Coal Miner's Daughter ~ the original (Loretta), and the film, with Sissy Spacek. Incredible! This video has a nice montage of shots...

  • Sissy Spacek is so cute and sings this song so well :)

  • "Looks like you finally found something you is good at Retta!" and frankly we are all glad she did.

  • She is a very good actress and this was a very good movie

  • boty she did one hell of a good job, on this movie!

  • Side by side, Sissy sings this song better than Loretta could hope to. Not trying to be controversial, it just is what it is...

  • @Defossion Don't worry, they'll get you back to the loony bin and in your straight jacket before long. You'll feel at home.

  • song like this hits you right in the heart

  • When they asked Sissy to play Loretta, she wouldn't do it until they put in her contract that she sings herself, not dubbed in Loretta's voice. Loretta was a tad angry. Sissy sings better. :)

  • Loretta wasnt angry she supported Sissy's decision in singing her songs and even helped Sissy learn to sing the songs .this is told by loretta on the interview she did for the dvd of coal miners daughter

  • @crazydude730 I agree Sissy did it better!

  • @crazydude730

Great movie...one of my all-time fav's.....this song was my trademark, when i sung karoke in bars, in my 20's early 30's.....Not bragging, but was pretty good...but anyhoo....love the old country music and the movies.....one of my all-time favorite singers, Ms. Loretta Lynn.

  • @SusDgs you just got owned by crazydude

  • @SusDgs You a frucking stupid if you thing sissy sing better then Loretta Lynn. The QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC. Who has been in Country Music for 50 years this year. I Love You Loretta Honey All 50 Years Of You. No matter how many STUPID JACKASS PUT CRAZY STUFF ON HERE.

  • @SusDgs no Loretta sings better! she taught sissy spacek to sing like her but she doesnt compare to Loretta cuz if she did she would have landed herself a singin' career which she ddnt so that proves Loretta does it better

  • @tas4435 :sissy was in fact offered to record more albums by owen bradley lorettas producer however she wanted to remain as an actress since she had already established her acting career

  • @SusDgs

LOL @ "Sissy sings better". Might I suggest an ear wax removal kit from your local Walgreens?

  • my bestfriend is her neice--great necie..but he rmom is her neice.

Her grandpa is herman webb..lorettas brother

  • This one of my favorite movies ever. It is fantastic. Sissy Spacek did a wonderful job as well as Tommy Lee Jones.

  • I Hope My Song/Video Helps In Some Small Way!

  • Good film!

  • the best movie in the world i wanna be just like her

  • The First Lady of country music...Miss Loretta Lynn.

  • @gargoyle2bad4u NO!! TAMMY WYNETTE is the First Lady of Country Music!!!

  • my wife and i saw the movie--the vidio at least 10 times--saw loretta in concert in Wheeling and once in Ohio---Loerrta --the best ever

  • sissy did sing her parts. so did beverly d'angelo.

  • Did she really sing? If so, she missed her calling.

  • cheyene we were there right

  • hey me and Biidmann where there and shybird cheyene roulettle

  • I want to buy this movie

  • Sissy Spacek is an incredibly gifted actress. She was born Mary Elizabeth Spacek in Quitman,Texas and her brothers nicknamed her "Sissy." Her family name is pronounced "Spa-check" because it is Czech, but we pronounce it "Space-eck."

  • lol my mom n i watched this movie just this afternoon. Sissy is so good!

  • I went with my mom to see this movie it rained that day it was so nastalgic

  • I loved this movie- seen it about 10 times so far. Sissy did a fabulous job and I actually I prefer her version of this song to Loretta's.

  • The ture queen of counrty and that great female sing to every,Sing of ture life and her feeling not like todays singingers.

  • I like this kind of old real country music.Today the country doesn't strike me like it did back in the 70's+80's.I guess those songs are the ones I really miss hearing on the radio back in the day.

  • It is hard to beleive this film is now 30 years old. I remember back in 1980 so well when it came out. Sissy Spacek did an outstanding job as the "Queen Of Country Music" Loretta Lynn and so deserved her Oscar, Golden Globe and gold album for her singing on the soundtrack.

  • Say it ain't so! Thirty years ago this movie came out and it was immediately one of my favorites - I watch it every time it comes on TBS and can lip sinc the lines. I agree, Sissy deserved an Oscar for her performance in this movie!

  • It was amazing how much she sounded like Loretta. She, from what I heard, Made sure she had Loretta's moves and sounds down before she would do the movie.

    Awesome Job!!!!!

  • This was an amazing movie !!

    Love this song!

  • Nkkicute-I am a 'Bona fide" 'Hillbilly" and I actually love all kinds of music! My dad taught himself banjo and I'm teaching myself fiddle and lapharp (how ever sloooowly). Not all Hillbillies are HipHop/Rap "haterz!" Fer SHURE! LOL!

  • And to think that Sissy didn't really want to do this role because she thought she couldn't ... even opted to sing instead of lip syncing to scare off producers -- thank God she chose to do this movie after all. I absolutely adore Cissy -- what a sweet, wonderful, warm, kind and extremely talented woman she is. I fell in love with her acting when she played Carrie -- and wanted to shake those girls senseless for hurting her character in that movie.

  • great stuff

  • she is one of my favorites to i love the movie it was the best!!!

  • @andreaM4168 i think too i´m a big fan of this movie

  • i love this movie very much and its really good

  • love it..

  • One of the Greatest of the Greatest singers of all-time. I love Loretta.

  • Wonderful tribute! Thanks for posting. I'm glad I bought this DVD finally because I LOVE to watch this movie: can't see it enough. Sissy Spacek is a great actress and it's my favorite Tommy Lee Jones role.

Keep Loretta in your thoghts and prayers because I understand that she is very sick right now.

  • I agree about the movie! what do you mean sick? what's wrong?

  • I have no idea what's wrong with her: possibly it's really nothing becauae I had read about her being sick but I read it in Enquirer (or one of those papers like that) and they tend to play things up too much so perhaps it's nothing (I hope!)

  • I just saw coalminers daughter last year and I was blown away. I thought her music was awesome. I'm so bored with music on the radio today. I hate all this rap and hip hop. it's annoying!

  • @7861312 me too...rap and that other silly stuff ain't music it is just a bunch of idiots..i get embarrsed for them...

  • Some of those "idiots" are making millions and you know what? Country music artist totally respect them most artist respect others for their music but when it comes to country only their hillbilly fans disrespect music they don't like.

  • @7861312 yup all that bullshit they play even the new country the old music is where it's at!

  • this summer, I want to go to her childhood home and see it. her brother gives a tour of the home for only 5$.

  • i love the pickin that !!!! gutiar!! sound goodddddddddd.

  • Great movie, but they should have used Loretta's version...

  • If you do not cry at this song , well I do not know if you exist?

  • sissy spaceck did a great job on this movie. this is my all time favorite movie. i have seen this movie more times than i can count. at thousand times. sissy did a fantastic time. good job guys. thank-you for posting this. loretta lynn is my all time favorite. and this song is too.

  • What a movie!! Can you believe that it's almost thirty years old??

I've been a Loretta Lynn fan ever since I remember. The first time that I met her was in Philadelphia, PA when she was singing Coal Miner's Daughter for the first time. I was ten years old and she was very warm and friendly to me when I got my first hug from the living legend.

Loretta still tours often and keeps a very busy lifestyle.

  • i love this song

  • I likes Sissy Spacek!

  • Sissy did this song almost as good as loretta.

  • I know been looking for a cole miners daughter soundtrack, but its rare

  • I got it at at Barnes and Noble under Soundtracks. Good Luck!
