Took me 4 tries to clear this quest using my Fulset yamatsu armor n juggernaut Hammer

Good guide but the diablos's weakest area is actually his stomach, not the tail. But for strategic purposes it may be better to aim at the tail.

@johnzarcone It is if you think can handle the monster without getting hit. Normally this leads to some very tense situations and may occasionally lead to quite a bit of frustration. If you ask me, I'll say do it without Heroics, or if you insist on getting +dmg boosts, use Adrenaline+2 instead, the difference isn't much. :)

I'd respectfully disagree with this being the best melee approach. A focus/AoU/sharpness+1 with King Atillart is better IMO. No bombs necessary. Flash spam and then keep triple charging head should take off both horns in due course. Then sonics and triple charge tail (stub) when it lands. Should be one hit raging in no time and therefore capturable. Try it out?

I actually tried using a GS on Diablos before, it's definitely less tedious than using bombs and since cutting weapon does considerably more damage to the horns, it's a better alternative. Tbqh, I was thinking of making a revised hammer guide but I haven't had the time to do so. =)

when non rage = move to the left

when rage mode = move to the right

it's like rajang's guide, but for rajang only move to the left, haha

anyway, i use GS for all monsters, and didnt find any problems for this monster

problem that solved from GS:

It's crying roar = just need HGE

Burrow strike = quick shielding (especially when rage mode, and i didnt know this guide, haha)

Tail swing = i like using GS because I can cut it's terrible tail, so more safely =)

I took me forever to do this with the daora hyperborea the first time I did this quest. But it was worth it when I got my first 2 stoutblktwstdhorns, just enough to make the chaotic order ^_^ As for that blood patch, sadly it does not work for the psp 3000. Anyways guys hang in there with the diablos and remeber it's weakness is ice =D

I have an problem with the normal diablos at the Elder cat.

I use to fight with a longsword.

But no mather how often i hit that thing, i cant kill it.

What is heas weakness, were is his weakspot, and what tips do you habve fpr killing that thing.

Diablos's weak point is the tail, and the neck (behind the plated ring). I wouldn't suggest going for the latter since you can't really hit that part consistently. Why don't you try hitting the legs, then going for the tail when it falls? That's after cutting the tail, of course.

Hiting his tail is with a katan dificult becouse he is losing it very fast.

The only problem is that i have no healing items and the time is runing out.

Is it better to use an hammer?

Try hitting the tail's stub when it comes off. It still counts as a weak spot, albeit a very hard to hit one. Still, it is better to use a hammer imo. =)

I would suggest anything with decent raw. The Onslaught line should do nicely.

The Narga hammer is the best raw hammer (without Sharpness+1) out there. Either that, or try Magnitude / Diablos Chaos Order (with Sharpness+1). Magnitude is made from Brown Blagonga. :) Or, you can try making Juggernaught first (upgraded from Onslaught).

My pattern with this monster when using GS has always been opportunistic attacks like these:

1. Burrows-sonic bomb/s (works like a charm ad a MUST HAVE)+GS full charge to the head.

2. Tail swing-get to the side and half GS charge

3. Charging-baiting it to charge you in front of a wall or mound and then dodging will cause it to get stuck giving you the full GS charge opportunity.

4. Knocked-GS combo, charge or better yet Large Bomb+'s.

5. Rage mode charge-Run like a bitch.

For bowguns you have to use alot of traps and bombs to do alot of dmg overtime. Find the best bowgun either heavy or light with high shot for the monsters weakness. and hopefully craig shot then just trap him use bombs. and smash him with craig/element weakness shot.

You can always try bowgunning if hammering is not really ur thing. :) Try using PelletS on the tail with Yama HBG. Search for mazereon for some gunning vids.

I know. I was playing Unite at that time and KH is my only decent hammer. Besides, ice / water hammers are only good once you have access to the G versions.
