Even though it's kinda hard being enthusiastic if you support Austria(n teams). The last time our national team qualified for anything was the world cup in 1998 -.-
@Asalieri Fun fact about that: We were automatically qualified as hosts, but since our test results in friendly matches were so mediocre (to say the least), there was actually a movement by some Austrian football fans to give our spot to another team (I think the best 3rd placed team in the qualifiers), to save us from a possible disgrace. I think that says a lot... :-/
@Asalieri Naw, we finished 3rd in the group stage at EURO 08 behind Germany and Croatia. Turkey did however throw us out of the World Cup 2002 play-off with an aggregate of 0-6.
@ichundnichter this is how i'm able to swallow losing to Germany 4-0 at world cup without Messi ever having scored a goal at World Cup 2010.... I just look at teams like Austria and feel much better (no offense)
@Asalieri The same Liechtenstein that had us at the brink of defeat once? Not really. ^^
With Austria you never know what you'll get, one day we play Belgium 4-4, the next day we lose to Faroe Islands. It's a roller coaster team if I ever saw one. :-/
@ichundnichter much better ever since we got rid of Maradona as coach. Sadly, we're still not favorites to win the Copa America IN OUR OWN HOME. It's being played in Argentina next month, and Brazil still has us way outclassed. It pisses me off.
@Asalieri Well, good luck to Argentina then, but it's really strange, I mean with players like Messi, Higuain or Angel di Maria, how come Argentina struggles so much? Speaking of Brazil: You might want to cheer on Austria at the U20 World Cup in Colombia this summer, cause we're in the same group as Brazil.
@ichundnichter it's the question every Argentine asks on a daily basis. With the incredible amount of talent we've got, it's crazy we're not better off than we are... I blame it on terrible coaching. Ever since Pekerman left, we've never had a good coach.
Good luck at the U20... you'll need it. Brazil is that team everyone fears to be stuck with in group stages.
@Asalieri Yeah, our team's coach said there's two teams he doesn't want in the group: Argentina and Brazil. Didn't quite get what he wanted :-P Ah well, there's still Panama and Egypt. ^^
And in June we face Germany in the qualifiers! Can't wait!
@Asalieri Germany is like Austria's "public enemy #1". There's a big rivalry between us (kinda like Argentina/Brazil). So Germany can bring it, but so will we! >:-D
@Asalieri Well, yeah, I noticed the misspelling. But it's still better than just making up names, despite having the license to use the real names. Also, like I noted in the video: Wasn't Goycochea a goalkeeper? He's in a defender position in the Squad. :)
@Asalieri I'm glad you like it, Sensible Software really was a company that gives me nothing but fond memories; yeah you know what screw it, Sensible Soccer it is for me ooohhhh yeahhh.
oh god damit; you had to have an Arsenal shirt. Ha ha ha, seriously though that was really good. May I recommend Olympic Soccer or Sensible Soccer if you're looking for your next football fix.
Loved your review!

@Asalieri No offense taken. ^^
However the only teams Austria can really look at to feel better is teams like San Marino or Andorra lately.

@ichundnichter you also have Liechtenstein, and pretty much everything in the Balkans except for Greece to feel better...

@ichundnichter qualifiers for what?
Panama sucks, you'll roll them over. Egypt is no walk in the park, though. They gave Italy a run for their money at confed 2009.

@Asalieri Qualifiers for EURO 2012 in Poland/Ukraine.
I know, Egypt will probably be our biggest rival for the second place in the group.

@ichundnichter good luck. Germany as we both know too well, can bring it.

Maybe in Brazil 2014...

Alright I'm gonna go watch the Europe League final now.
See you. :D

I've never played either Olympic Soccer or Sensible Soccer, but I've seen a video of Sensible Soccer, it really looks fun.
