To all the Haters: If you have ever ridden/run up Mt. Krumpet (part of the course at Jingle Cross Rock in Iowa City) you would understand how gnarly Todd Wells hopping the barriers is. It's a hard hill to ride DOWN, let alone ride up...and HOP BARRIERS. But I suppose out of 1.8 million only a handful have actually witnessed the actual race.

actually it is an adjusted roadbike, made for courses like this. It is faster and lighter than a mountainbike. It's called cyclocross. But you're right though.. most people would not even make this slope just walking. People should check out Sven Nys. King of the (dirt)slope.

The reason the cyclists carry it is because once they dismount to carry it over the logs, they cannot rebuild momentum on the cycles until they are at a lesser slope.

so these cyclists are more than capable of riding up the hill, but hopping over the logs is the surprising part
