I've heard of making a speech out of nothing but recycled cliche's, but I think this is the first speech I've heard built entirely out of recycled fallacies.
It's funny, I've heard atheists say, "I wish God and the afterlife were real, but I can't bring myself to believe he exists." I've never heard a theist say, "wow I wish God wasn't real, but I can't deny his presence."
Yes, you know what is frustrating is when people "guffaw" at things that they should at least realize they are on the defensive about.
Only a deluded theist could misconstrue Dawkins' point about aliens to that extent, as he clearly stated in context that, GIVEN intelligent design is true, it would have had to come from a natural origin rather than a supernatural origin.
This makes sense though because Craig and his ilk are closeted creationists. I don't think there's any doubt about that.
@urbanelf It's a social statement which was signed last year by a group of evangelical, Catholic and Orthodox Christians, basically trumpeting the anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-euthanasia party line. Of course, the snootiest of the evangelicals (primarily Calvinists) didn't sign because they didn't want to dilute their precious doctrine by allying with heretics.
If it's a worldview issue, and not science, then these Christians can go fuck themselves, period. No wonder there is really no point in debating these idiots. The fact that they even bring up the issue of a worldview to defeat their so-called enemy, shows how little science they actually do.
When I hear this asshole say, "take back this culture", I want to buy a fucking gun.
Phillip E. Johnson award? That's something that's handed out to Evangelical Fundamentalist Trolls right?

Same crap...different day.
The whole " Dawkins preferring aliens " line makes me cringe
As soon as he says that his credibility sinks through the floor.
Who am I kidding?
What credibility?

Was it hard listening to this tripe?

@infinit888 It was hard listening to the audience applaud or watch them nod in agreement.

Sadly, I've heard every word of this before from other mouths.

7/10 seems a bit high to me it's more like 3/10, but that is still sad.

The Manhattan Declaration was an important document? LOL!

@violentlygraceful Not to be confused with the Manhattan Project lol
But I'll give it one thing....It has a Wikipedia page, therefore it must be of some importance!

@violentlygraceful That's the first Ive heard of it. Is this like the Declaration of Independence?

@unixhead101 I didn't know who I wanted to punch more: the speaker for saying stupid stuff, or the audience for clapping for him.

I'd love to point out that the speaker introducing the award claims that the evidence points to deism, not any brand of Christianity...
