  • Much ado about nothin =the performance was outrageos. I am not sure why the two announcers were so excited any little 10 year old in NY or Jamaica can do that

  • In uniform , not so where is the respect. As the other person commented where are all the local tunes.

  • im a former Band Sergeant from the SVG Cadet Force and this is despicable,, nuff said! they shdud neva wear that uniform doin that monkey dance,,,, what a shame smfh

  • Why must people make a big controversy over nothing at all. So what if he danced to the willie bounce song?

The mentallity of grenadian people is just ridiculous and depressing. This was all over the news...Big WHoop....there are other things that needsthe attention of the media and are not getting any. Sometimes im just tempted to say shut the f*^k up to you people...hypocrisy and disrespect my ass!!!

  • The band is good no dispute there, but they chose to play the wrong based on the backdrop that the Cultural Minister had just denied some foreign artiste entry to the Island and that his mandate was that the Parade will be strictly local.

  • man enough that gone already if u want to run ur month on culture run ur mouth on the guy that sing opera and critized the band yea u know him and the bad thing is opera isn't even caribbean jeez to much double standards in this country the band should be reconized not critized ok grenaddistillers rdzone101 saod so

  • Maybe you missed this part of my message "The band is good no dispute there"

  • that rgpf band has skill visit their christmas with brass on the 29 at the national trade center and see really talent those that criticize can't do anything except criticize and the guy name is Charlton Charles big to all band member i enjoyed hoping 2 c u 2010

  • Understand the issue, it has nothing to do with the Band ability to perform, but the song chosen to perform.

  • now i see nothin wrong with the band playin the song to be quite honest i was there on the parade and it was a good one dispite they left out alot of things esspecially the forgein military

  • If you were in Grenada at the time, then you would have known that the Cultural Minister had instilled a strictly local policy hence the reason for outburst of the Band performing a foriegn tune rather than that of a local tune. Understand the issue, it has nothing to do with the Band ability to perform, but the song chosen to perform.

  • This was mawd!! i was in the Girl guides section n i watched the whole thing from the back we couldn't more or anything... lol i find it was hott!! It was kinda cool when we had to stand in the rain ..

  • hmmm...i would think that the police band may have picked the song and not the organisers or the government...

  • allu fucciin madd!!dancehall is da shxt!!but nooo we haffi use a soca tune....

  • 'jjcherryhill' the issue surrounding this matter had to do with the fact that the Cultural Ministry refused to grant work permits to a Jamaican & Bajan who was due to perform the Friday night at a privately owned club. Also, the independence was deemed as "strictly local" so when a Jamaican tune was played and danced to on our Independence day it sparked controversy because we have local artistes like Tallpree and Mr. Killa whose tunes the band could have used and danced to.

  • I respect your opinion but who cares if they danced Willie Bounce yall older folks love to make confusion

  • "You can put lipstick on a pig, bit its still a pig." "Willie Bounce" or that form club dancing should never be on display at a national parade. This is not the kind of change we need to embrace in Grenadian society. Its no example to set for the youth of the country. Those with short memory may not remember that Elephant man's last performance in Grenada ended in violence and a number of police officers were assaulted at the concert. The morons that allowed this segment should be flogged.

  • The performance was great, but what happen to the "strictly local" rule enforced by Sen. Arley Gill? Why bar Jamaican artiste "Left eye" & Bajan artiste "Red Plastic Bag" from performing in Grenada over the Independence weekend, but yet on Grenada's Independence day our Police Band is playing a Jamaican Dancehall tune? What happen to "Mr. Killa" Ivan tune? What happen to the "Tallpree Dance"? Isn't our LOCAL music good enough? Pure disrespect to our artiste hypocrisy on the Senator's part.

  • "emperor" you are missing the point. The cultural Jr. Minister a few weeks before Independence refused to issue work permits to a Jamaican & a Bajan artiste from coming to Grenada for Independence because he said the celebrations must be "strictly local" No one as issue with the Officer Dancing, the issue is the tune played on our Independence day when the Senator kept on preaching strictly local for weeks. In other words practice what you preach.

  • this was fantastic!..sorry i missed it

  • but we're independent right?!

  • why is this any disrespect of any sort? i think that you should embrace change, after all change is what brings about development and fights discrimination and ignorance.. i guess that you think for a police officer to do that it looks a bit strange, but it's just a moment for us to enjoy our talent, and off course he would have gotten permission, you should look at the US army in certain performances. they only reason we couldn't have cdone that was because of the queens protocol!
