  • And you can run UT2004 :) CS 1.6 run also, I think C&C Generals should be run too.

  • YOu can run Unreal Tournament Goty (99) :D

  • can i run sudden attack or more fps games

  • Also Torchlight, Diablo2 , Quake 3 , Serious Sam the firs/second encounter and Age of Empire 3

  • You guys think I should reinstall Windows Xp instead of my Windows 7 Starter, would it improve gaming performance...? Thanks In Advance

PS. For those who don't know, the netbook got no CD-ROM, so I have to do it using USB (I'm lazy ok :@).

  • i have a 1.6 ghz atom with 2 gig ram and intel graphics card and i can run fabel 1, morrowind, prince of persia 2, warcraft 3, and half life 2 fine

  • I love Half-Life 1... Love it! And I can run Half -Life 2, but I prefer playing Half-Life 1... So cool

  • HOW DID YOU GET 30+ FPS ON WARCRAFT 3? WTF! I CAN ONLY GET MY STARCRAFT 2 TO RUN 5!!!!!!!!HELP ME OUTTTT

  • Thanks for these, bro. :D

Could you perhaps show up how to overclock the Atom?

    You make good vids, man.

  • will 1.3 ghz work for all those games and chipset family

  • Will this thing stream Netflix videos effectivly?

  • transformers runs alright as wel as quake live also angry birds

  • doesent matter if fable plays well its in my opinion the best game ever

  • @CallOfDuty33333 I'm with you. Probably my favorite single player game ever. Which is why I don't think it deserves to be played like that. :)

  • @ldelporte finnaly someone who agrees with me im downloading it on my little brothers miny computer

  • @ldelporte finnaly someone who agrees with me im downloading it on my little brothers miny computer

  • Try quake 3 arena, that game is a lot of fun and runs very well on netbooks, 35+ fps on high mid 640X480

  • How does CS:S/TF2/BF2 run?

  • @casemods I'm sure they would run terribly (if at all). The better netbook with dedicated nVidia graphics and 2 gigs of ram that replaced this one could barely run CS:S and that was with an overclocked CPU at 2 GHz.

  • @ldelporte but i can run css and tf2 with a 1.2ghz 1.5gb ram netbook....with moderate lag. bf2 wouldnt be good tho

  • With the RAM Upgrade Fable runs like a charm!

  • @Angeru12 Cool, thanks for the tip.

  • @L4X1K3

I was using a program called Fraps for the frames-per-second counter.

  • @ldelporte thx

  • @Shigond

Everyone's a critic. I was operating under the notion that people want to see a good range of gameplay situations in order to get a better feel for the highs and lows in the performance. I don't want to just show a second clip in some narrow corridor where I'm getting 35 fps. I want people to know how low a games performance might dip.

  • too long gameplays

  • how did u put that framecounter on the screen?

  • @L4X1K3 fraps

  • dose it have enuf memory to store all thees games an can i put games on an external hard drive?

  • @r0botpiss it does it hes like 160 ddr

  • i can play doom 3 on my asus 1005pe (overclocked to 2008.6 mhz) and it runs much better than half-life and counter-strike 1.6 strangely

  • @GaintSubiSin wtf u overclocked to 2ghz? HOW?!??

  • @Demonragdoll don't ask me, ask all knowing google (search for the definition of FSB that might help)

  • im a pc gamer and i needed something for long trips so it had to be small so i got a acer aspire one kav60 it has a 10.1 inch screen and it had a 160gb 7200rpm hd 1.6 ghz processor and 1gb of ram i took the ram out and replaced it with 2gb of 800mhz ddr2 ram and put a 60gb ssd and its running xp it was worth every cent its fast and i can play alot of games.

  • I play Gmod, HL2, COD2 and stuff like that on my AAO. It is an AWESOME laptop.

  • I have an AOA 150-1014. Does it runs as yours? is it the same specs? I have Windows 7, with aero off, its suposed to be as fast as an XP acording to some benchmarking tests, but rather than that should it affect my gaming?

    Thank you.

  • try mw2..

  • @enzkie044 lol

  • @ fway84001

I didn't do anything special. I just installed the games, reduced the graphical settings from the in-game menus and these were the results I found.

  • how can you do that!!

  • love fable tlc

  • Fable does work pretty well. I'm running it on a computer that has a processor 200mhz faster, but half the RAM. Fable runs great on 800x600 everything on medium.

  • hey what do you think about call of duty 2 on the hp mini 1000?

  • Sooo...Fable LC works on acer YESSS!! just when i was about to kick this thing 4 being useless ^_^

  • @ArtAnime5 Well, sure. Technically it works. But, the performance was not very good at all. I didn't think it was playable enough to enjoy on this netbook.

  • @ldelporte for me it was, sure even on min setting it lagged alot, but the game kicks ass!

  • @ldelporte Woot, Fable LC Ordered :D Im gonna be playin it on a HP 210 Netbook, you think it would run better if i upgraded to 2gb ram?? or would it all have to do with the processor + graphics card

  • @ArtAnime5 dude hitman contracts bloodmoney(possibly) starwars knightts of the old republic all kinds of stuff work on netbooks

  • Is it possible to play L4D on that netbook? I'm planning to get the same one and I was wondering if you tried L4D.

  • No, I never tried L4D when I had this netbook. However, I did try it on another netbook I had (Asus N10J-A2) and it had a better video card (nVidia 9300m). That netbook could barely run it and I had to overclock the CPU just to make it happen. So, I wouldn't count on the Acer Aspire One or anything like it being able to handle that game. If you noticed, HL1 was only getting 15-30fps. I don't think it would be anywhere close to that good for L4D.

  • @ldelporte Thanks. I was stuck on choosing a proper netbook that plays L4D. Looks like I gotta start saving for that Asus!

  • @dtk763r5 Actually, if I were you. I wouldn't get that one (Asus N10-J) if I were you. Like I said, it barely played L4D. It wasn't getting great performance at all. By now there are probably some better ones. For instance, you might look into one of the nVidia Ion netbooks and try to find one with a dual core CPU. Specifically I suggest you look into the ASUS Eee PC 1201N. It has a dual-core Atom CPU and the nVidia ION graphics. I'll send you a message with a link to it.

  • hey ldelporte . can you tell me what the name of this model is? Is it acer aspire one A150? the 8.9 one?

  • It was the 8.9-inch version. I don't have it anymore, so I can't look for the model number.

  • can you play wolfenstein e.t on it

  • I don't know. I don't have it anymore. I would think probably yes at the lowest settings.

  • Fable plays better on this than my old 15" Dell Inspiron. x.x

  • I don't think it was really necessary to show Half-Life 1... Half-Life 1 is just a heavily modified quake 1 engine...

  • @PIKACHU49386

just the same, the point of this video isn't to amaze the viewer with performance. It's just to show how well the games run on this netbook.

Besides, HL1 didn't exactly have the best performance anyways. So, I think its value is to let the viewer see that some games might not perform as well as they expected.

  • i have a net book wat has a cpu of 2.6ghz dual core processers so thanks and get

  • @whitewhiteywhiteteam

    What netbook is that?

  • Thank you very much for posting these videos. For a netbook, it has very good gaming capabilitys. =D

  • @Nikodem9

You're welcome. I agree. However, I kinda feel like it has less to do with the netbook being powerful, and more to do with pointing out that there are plenty of old games that are still fun. May of which are a great choice for a Netbook.

  • True...Very True!!

  • Dose it have a decent graphics card and can i upgrade it?

  • @HonorOfGod

Decent enough to run the games you see here. Not anything more intense than these. No, you can't upgrade the video card on one of these.

  • dang, lol thanks.

  • How did you get the games on the Netbook? Download?

I read that they don't have CD drives...

  • I used an external cd drive or I used the cd drive of my other PC over the network. Or I bought the games from Steam (in which case a CD drive is not needed).

  • Ok, thanks!

  • Yeah it's fine. The max resolution is only 1024x600. So the pixels aren't too small to read.

  • have you tried out battlefield heroes? its a free cartoon shooter, you should give it a try if you havent yet. it is a bit different, but really fun.

i would like to know how it works, and i think many others would like to know...

  • I don't have my Acer Aspire One anymore, I bought an ASUS N10J instead and returned the Acer Aspire One.

  • which program shows the FPS in the left corner?

  • Fraps

  • is fable ok with a external mouse

  • Fable is very slow on this netbook (as you can see from the video). That was on the lowest settings. I don't recommend playing fable on this.

However, a mouse is essential for playing fable properly. I'd look into something with a slightly faster video card if you want to play fable.

  • ok thanks for the heads up

  • If it can run Doom wads then it's good enough for me... lol

  • call of duty 4.. on low settings..

  • What? Huh? Are you suggesting that game will run on this netbook (the Acer Aspire One)? I am very doubtful.

  • I'm wondering if halo 2 would run... since halo 1 does

  • halo2 has much higher requirements, doesn't it? i doubt it, but try it out ^^ (if u have it)

  • huuh, i love this laptop i have a Acer Aspire One D150! and i can play any game that i want (no, GTA IV Crysys) Im Talking about Old and cool Classic Games Like Half Life And Counter Strike! You can even play HL2 on it !! i tested it! please play it on Low because in high you have only 5 fps and in low 20 or 25 fps. Its enough for this game

  • Can i play gears of war with this???

  • I highly doubt it.

  • FORGET IT! No chance.

  • You should look up ATI Mobility HD and see a real graphics chip working on a laptop

  • yeah, but this is a tiny $300 netbook. Show me a netbook with your "ATI Mobility HD."

  • sure please check out the new acer Ferrari one netbook it has got your ati hd 3200 gpu , pretty impressive and the new amd duel core cpu ,

now iam confused what to bye the hp mini 311 or the acer Ferrari one

any idea what to get ?

  • Sure, the dual core is nice... but what about the 1.2ghz? Does the dual core help much with gaming if it's that slow? I'm sure it makes windows better, but I don't know about gaming. The video card certainly doesn't hurt things. Still, it's $500 instead of $300. I suppose it depends which is better for gaming: a 1.6ghz single core or a 1.2 ghz dual core. graphics will be similar. The cpu will be the bottleneck in both cases.

  • hey thanks for your reply,

seriously i also want a netbook just for gaming lol !!!!! , i know its a lot to ask from these tiny machines, i read it somewhere that a netbook can be made into a high performance platform in which you can do gaming and what not , but the developers are not doing it deliberately cause then it will hurt the laptop market HMMMM!!!!!!!!

makes scene tough . just need to keep our fingers crossed and lets see what alienware has to come up with (GAMING NETBOOK ) is nt far

  • Alienware as a company is nothing but a rip off company. Don't buy gaming computers from them.

  • Yeah the 1.2ghz dual core models have crap battery life too. Good if you like to be sat next to a mains socket all the time.

  • not to mention that the ion graphics core isn't still that much more powerful (you can play a game with it, but just at lowest settings) and that it also costs more than classics netbooks...in comparison it might turn better to pick one of the low-bugdet laptops, which at least sells with a Centrino dual core cpu (and sometimes a branded igp)...

    just my 2cents

  • does anyone know how to get a ps2 emulator on this if so please tell the link or something

lol im trying to get some final fantasy x

  • a150

  • IS fable really that smoth

  • Yes... but I personally didn't think it was smooth enough. Too choppy for me to enjoy. I only featured in in this video just to show HOW it would play. Not to suggest that each game plays really well.

  • hey, why are there numbers in the top left corner of the screen?

  • I have Fraps running to show the frames per second (that's what those numbers are). However, it has been said that fraps causes a little bit of a slowdown. So, the actual FPS when not running Fraps might be a little bit higer that what you see here.

  • i see. so downloading the fraps isnt or is recommended by you?(im getting my acer aspire monday)

  • not an acer aspire one, but an asus n10 will

  • is it possible that halo 2 could run on an acer aspire one?

  • I doubt it.

  • the specs are okay for halo 2, but it says you HAVE to have VISTA, so i wuz like efff tat! plus Halo 1 lags on this prolly more because of the engine, and halo 2 prolly uses a similar engine...

  • when are the dam netbooks with the nvidia ion platform coming out? they rule over this for gaming , I mean call of duty 4 with 25- 35 frames per second

  • Last I heard, there were no immediate plans for netbooks with the ion platform. Just those tiny little PCs. Which I think is just plain silly. Why in the world wouldn't that be their first priority?

  • Sorry, you must have heard a long time ago.

Ion netbooks is a reality, and there's 3 so far I've noticed.

    One from lenovo, the S12

Another from some chinese company with a dual core Atom 330, and another one was announced at computex.

Realistically, they play COD4 around 18~25 fps around medium settings.

500~650 dollars (S12 is said to cost 500.)

  • the Asus n10 is supposed to have an Nvidia card

they have vids on youtube of CoD4 running on it pretty smoothly...

  • u should try and run some sports games like maybe NHL like 2004 or so, also the command and conquer games and Empire earth one and 2, and rise of NAtions, u now where I'm going with this , the games that aren't of need of grapically intense intead of 1st person shooters, I do love though how it plays halo almost perfectly

  • is the game total overdose fun? I rmember hearing about it. I saw it on pc at biglots one time for $4

  • To be honest, I just randomly decided to download the demo and try it on the Acer Aspire One just because it was older and might run well. What you see here is my entire experience with the game.

  • You know the company that made world of goo is no bankrupt because so many people downloaded their game for free except for pitching in and buying it.!

  • that's not true at all

  • I for one bought my copy of World of Goo. I got it at Wal-Mart for $15.

  • yeah, i got it on wii for 15 wii dollars

  • okay thanks

at least it can play the sims 2 im fine with that

  • i have a question plz answer it

will this laptop play the sims 3 that just came out

  • i dont think so, laptops arent made for playing games.

also these are called NETbooks for a reason.

they can only play games from 2001-maybe 2005.

if you wanna play games buy a stationary for the same money.

  • im gonna test fable on my aspire one right away =D

  • would bioshock work on it?

  • No. Not at any playable speeds I'm sure.

  • I was wondering if you could play WC3 and go into a Wintermaul Map and Dota and tell me how well it performed? I know this isn't for gaming, but just curious before buying one. Or somehow get a bunch of units on the screen and a lot of action and see what the frame rate is. THank you!

  • Erm... Emulation!...Erm

  • I'm not sure what you mean? Are you suggesting that I am emulating these games? If so, that would be even more impressive for the Acer Aspire One. If you are suggesting that I demonstrate emaulators in a video, that's been done already. You can search for it on YouTube.

Of course, you may just be excited about using your Acer Aspire One for emulation and that's what you mean when you say "Erm... Emulation!...Erm"

  • Correct! When I get the Acer aspire one I will be using it for emulation.

I mean it's perfect! Small enuf to go anywhere, big enuf display for a portable device. Its almost like it was made for emulation in my opinion.

Great Video by the way. I had no idea it could run GTA San Andreas.

  • is this Aspire One D250 or D150?

  • I dunno, I don't have it anymore. I bought it, made this video... then I got enticed by the Asus N10j A2 and so I took my AAO back and ordered myself and Asus. However, the specs of the system are listed in the description.

  • would CounterStrikeSource work?

  • I think there is a vid of someone playing that. I think it only worked well enough to play on maps without textures.

  • so does bf2 work on it then?

  • no no !

battle field 2 does not work on it !

  • im a idiot ( i know ) but is it better to have more fps than say a lower nmber of fps??

  • higher the better

  • um. No. these things are pretty much you getting what you get and no more. In fact, I've heard that you can't even upgrade the RAM on these things because the RAM is soddered on the mainboard.

  • Has anyone tried running Gmod 10?

  • the GMA 950 isn't that incompetent. thanks for the video. ugh, would it be nice to see Nvidia Ion come to a netbook though? 9400M goodness for cheap :)

  • I was wondering f this played flyff

  • Although I personally have not tested it, I would say yes. But I could be wrong. If you buy this from Wal-Mart (like I did) you have 15 days to return it, so If it doesn't run the games you want it to, You can just return it. Simple as that.

  • i am looking for a netbook not to big but can play games like gta sa and halo 2 f.e.a.r or even maybe bioshock. I am between 2 netbooks the acer aspire one d150 with 2 gigs of ram or the asus n10 but the n10 is a bit too big....please help me!

  • I have heard that the acer is better dont take my word for it but i would do some more research

  • the acer aspire one has intel gma 950 and the asus has nvidia geforce 9300 gs. Nvidia is much better in my oppinion but asus n10 is a little bit expensive thats why i want to know if the 200 dollars paid more are worth it.TNx for the reply btw :)

  • The N10 is better for games. But the price increase isn't for the graphics card alone. There's the HDMI output, the 320 gig HD, Wireless N, bluetooth, The fact that it's an asus (with express gate) and thus more reliable and solid, nicer speakers, 2 gigs of ram... just to point out a few. If you buy an N10 and expect a gaming powerhouse, you will be disappointed. However, it is still the best netbook for gaming right now. If you OC the cpu it will be even better. BTW, Bioshock works on the N10.

  • do you think you would have any chances of playing SPORE?

  • thanks for making this video it made my decision of buying a netbook easier but if u have mohaa can u plz test it on that

  • I don't have this netbook anymore.. i took it back and bought the Asus N10j-A2 instead.

  • no offense dude but what's the point of getting an N10...it's ridiculously expensive, and no matter how good the components are, the atom processor is really crippling it.

for that price (in canada at least), you can get a Inspiron 14, 15, or even 13 with a dual core.

otoh, the AA1 is really good for it's price range.

  • No offense taken. I realize that you are certainly right about the Atom crippling it. I have been annoyed by that a few times already. However, it still can run more games that the AAO. I was playing crysis at 10-20fps

Certain games I really wanted to play actually play really well on it too. Those games are Company off Heroes and Command and Conquer 3. Those were horrible on the AAO. Oh, and fable runs well on the N10, not crappy like on the AAO.

  • Also, regarding the higher price. I find that in several months when I have forgotten how much I spent on the system and my wallet has recovered, I will just be glad that I can do that much more with my netbook. The N10 has more to offer than gaming too. Such as HDMI output, bluetooth, nice speakers (sounds great), 320 gig HD, Wireless N. All those things played a large part in my decision as well. The graphics card would not have been enough by itself for me to switch.

  • How much is the cost of the new laptop ur getting (the one that can run COD 4 smoothly) I might by that one over this one but depends on the cost.

  • I bought it (Asus N10j-A2) for $761 after tax and free shipping from Amazon. There are other versions of it for cheaper if you look for them. some have smaller hard drives. It helps to overclock your processor though, but isn't completely necessary if you lower the settings.

  • Ok I'm going to get a laptop for my birthday and I'll just ask for a cheaper version of the computer ur getting. Can't wait :)

  • Nice video, can't believe AAO can run games! Will Flight Simulator X run? Or even Mirror's Edge?

  • Doubt it and really doubt it. If the game is 3d and if it came out before say... 2003 there is a chance you can play it. otherwise probably very unlikely. Now, a lot of games will run, but very poorly. I actually just returned mine and ordered an ASUS N10 gaming netbook. It's a little larger with a 10.2 inch screen but still small. It has a Nvidia GF9300m with 256mb video ram (among other nice features). It can play COD4 and some other newer games as well. I will post some videos of it.

  • Congrats on your purchase. Which particular model do you have? Looking forward your YouTube vidz of games working and playable on ASUS N10.

  • I believe its the N10j.. I get it tomorrow. It has the 320 gig HD and 2 gigs of system memory. It will have Vista installed but will come with an XP Pro downgrade CD.

  • I looked at my order again. Specifically it's the N10J-A2 (I think that's the best one)

  • Indeed thats the N10J-A2 model. Have fun with it.

  • Game suggestions for your AAO:

    1. ArmA (Armed Assault & Queen's Gambit)

    2. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

  • Well.. um Call of Duty 4 I'm certain will run like poop. But, perhaps I'll do it just for fun. And while I don't know much about ArmA, from the screenshots, I don't expect anything above 2 fps.

  • Dude...awesome video! The Acer seems to do a great job displaying sweet graphics, especially on War Craft 3. Can't wait for video 3...maybe you can show us Guild Wars?

  • Thank's for the compliment. I actually plan on showing guild wars in the next video.
