@casemods I'm sure they would run terribly (if at all). The better netbook with dedicated nVidia graphics and 2 gigs of ram that replaced this one could barely run CS:S and that was with an overclocked CPU at 2 GHz.
Everyone's a critic. I was operating under the notion that people want to see a good range of gameplay situations in order to get a better feel for the highs and lows in the performance. I don't want to just show a second clip in some narrow corridor where I'm getting 35 fps. I want people to know how low a games performance might dip.
im a pc gamer and i needed something for long trips so it had to be small so i got a acer aspire one kav60 it has a 10.1 inch screen and it had a 160gb 7200rpm hd 1.6 ghz processor and 1gb of ram i took the ram out and replaced it with 2gb of 800mhz ddr2 ram and put a 60gb ssd and its running xp it was worth every cent its fast and i can play alot of games.
I have an AOA 150-1014. Does it runs as yours? is it the same specs? I have Windows 7, with aero off, its suposed to be as fast as an XP acording to some benchmarking tests, but rather than that should it affect my gaming?
Fable does work pretty well. I'm running it on a computer that has a processor 200mhz faster, but half the RAM. Fable runs great on 800x600 everything on medium.
@ArtAnime5 Well, sure. Technically it works. But, the performance was not very good at all. I didn't think it was playable enough to enjoy on this netbook.
@ldelporte Woot, Fable LC Ordered :D Im gonna be playin it on a HP 210 Netbook, you think it would run better if i upgraded to 2gb ram?? or would it all have to do with the processor + graphics card
No, I never tried L4D when I had this netbook. However, I did try it on another netbook I had (Asus N10J-A2) and it had a better video card (nVidia 9300m). That netbook could barely run it and I had to overclock the CPU just to make it happen. So, I wouldn't count on the Acer Aspire One or anything like it being able to handle that game. If you noticed, HL1 was only getting 15-30fps. I don't think it would be anywhere close to that good for L4D.
@dtk763r5 Actually, if I were you. I wouldn't get that one (Asus N10-J) if I were you. Like I said, it barely played L4D. It wasn't getting great performance at all. By now there are probably some better ones. For instance, you might look into one of the nVidia Ion netbooks and try to find one with a dual core CPU. Specifically I suggest you look into the ASUS Eee PC 1201N. It has a dual-core Atom CPU and the nVidia ION graphics. I'll send you a message with a link to it.
just the same, the point of this video isn't to amaze the viewer with performance. It's just to show how well the games run on this netbook.
Besides, HL1 didn't exactly have the best performance anyways. So, I think its value is to let the viewer see that some games might not perform as well as they expected.
You're welcome. I agree. However, I kinda feel like it has less to do with the netbook being powerful, and more to do with pointing out that there are plenty of old games that are still fun. May of which are a great choice for a Netbook.
I used an external cd drive or I used the cd drive of my other PC over the network. Or I bought the games from Steam (in which case a CD drive is not needed).

The video card certainly doesn't hurt things. Still, it's $500 instead of $300. I suppose it depends which is better for gaming: a 1.6ghz single core or a 1.2 ghz dual core. graphics will be similar. The cpu will be the bottleneck in both cases.

Last I heard, there were no immediate plans for netbooks with the ion platform. Just those tiny little PCs. Which I think is just plain silly. Why in the world wouldn't that be their first priority?
u should try and run some sports games like maybe NHL like 2004 or so, also the command and conquer games and Empire earth one and 2, and rise of NAtions, u now where I'm going with this , the games that aren't of need of grapically intense intead of 1st person shooters, I do love though how it plays halo almost perfectly
To be honest, I just randomly decided to download the demo and try it on the Acer Aspire One just because it was older and might run well. What you see here is my entire experience with the game.
You know the company that made world of goo is no bankrupt because so many people downloaded their game for free except for pitching in and buying it.!
I was wondering if you could play WC3 and go into a Wintermaul Map and Dota and tell me how well it performed? I know this isn't for gaming, but just curious before buying one. Or somehow get a bunch of units on the screen and a lot of action and see what the frame rate is. THank you!
I'm not sure what you mean? Are you suggesting that I am emulating these games? If so, that would be even more impressive for the Acer Aspire One. If you are suggesting that I demonstrate emaulators in a video, that's been done already. You can search for it on YouTube.
Of course, you may just be excited about using your Acer Aspire One for emulation and that's what you mean when you say "Erm... Emulation!...Erm"
I dunno, I don't have it anymore. I bought it, made this video... then I got enticed by the Asus N10j A2 and so I took my AAO back and ordered myself and Asus. However, the specs of the system are listed in the description.
um. No. these things are pretty much you getting what you get and no more. In fact, I've heard that you can't even upgrade the RAM on these things because the RAM is soddered on the mainboard.
the GMA 950 isn't that incompetent. thanks for the video. ugh, would it be nice to see Nvidia Ion come to a netbook though? 9400M goodness for cheap :)
Although I personally have not tested it, I would say yes. But I could be wrong. If you buy this from Wal-Mart (like I did) you have 15 days to return it, so If it doesn't run the games you want it to, You can just return it. Simple as that.
i am looking for a netbook not to big but can play games like gta sa and halo 2 f.e.a.r or even maybe bioshock. I am between 2 netbooks the acer aspire one d150 with 2 gigs of ram or the asus n10 but the n10 is a bit too big....please help me!
the acer aspire one has intel gma 950 and the asus has nvidia geforce 9300 gs. Nvidia is much better in my oppinion but asus n10 is a little bit expensive thats why i want to know if the 200 dollars paid more are worth it.TNx for the reply btw :)
The N10 is better for games. But the price increase isn't for the graphics card alone. There's the HDMI output, the 320 gig HD, Wireless N, bluetooth, The fact that it's an asus (with express gate) and thus more reliable and solid, nicer speakers, 2 gigs of ram... just to point out a few. If you buy an N10 and expect a gaming powerhouse, you will be disappointed. However, it is still the best netbook for gaming right now. If you OC the cpu it will be even better. BTW, Bioshock works on the N10.
no offense dude but what's the point of getting an N10...it's ridiculously expensive, and no matter how good the components are, the atom processor is really crippling it.
for that price (in canada at least), you can get a Inspiron 14, 15, or even 13 with a dual core.
otoh, the AA1 is really good for it's price range.
No offense taken. I realize that you are certainly right about the Atom crippling it. I have been annoyed by that a few times already. However, it still can run more games that the AAO. I was playing crysis at 10-20fps
Certain games I really wanted to play actually play really well on it too. Those games are Company off Heroes and Command and Conquer 3. Those were horrible on the AAO. Oh, and fable runs well on the N10, not crappy like on the AAO.
Also, regarding the higher price. I find that in several months when I have forgotten how much I spent on the system and my wallet has recovered, I will just be glad that I can do that much more with my netbook. The N10 has more to offer than gaming too. Such as HDMI output, bluetooth, nice speakers (sounds great), 320 gig HD, Wireless N. All those things played a large part in my decision as well. The graphics card would not have been enough by itself for me to switch.
I bought it (Asus N10j-A2) for $761 after tax and free shipping from Amazon. There are other versions of it for cheaper if you look for them. some have smaller hard drives. It helps to overclock your processor though, but isn't completely necessary if you lower the settings.
Doubt it and really doubt it. If the game is 3d and if it came out before say... 2003 there is a chance you can play it. otherwise probably very unlikely. Now, a lot of games will run, but very poorly. I actually just returned mine and ordered an ASUS N10 gaming netbook. It's a little larger with a 10.2 inch screen but still small. It has a Nvidia GF9300m with 256mb video ram (among other nice features). It can play COD4 and some other newer games as well. I will post some videos of it.
I believe its the N10j.. I get it tomorrow. It has the 320 gig HD and 2 gigs of system memory. It will have Vista installed but will come with an XP Pro downgrade CD.
Well.. um Call of Duty 4 I'm certain will run like poop. But, perhaps I'll do it just for fun. And while I don't know much about ArmA, from the screenshots, I don't expect anything above 2 fps.
Dude...awesome video! The Acer seems to do a great job displaying sweet graphics, especially on War Craft 3. Can't wait for video 3...maybe you can show us Guild Wars?
And you can run UT2004 :) CS 1.6 run also, I think C&C Generals should be run too.

u should try and run some sports games like maybe NHL like 2004 or so, also the command and conquer games and Empire earth one and 2, and rise of NAtions, u now where I'm going with this , the games that aren't of need of grapically intense intead of 1st person shooters, I do love though how it plays halo almost perfectly

is the game total overdose fun? I rmember hearing about it. I saw it on pc at biglots one time for $4
madpierrot92 2 years ago
To be honest, I just randomly decided to download the demo and try it on the Acer Aspire One just because it was older and might run well. What you see here is my entire experience with the game.
ldelporte 2 years ago
You know the company that made world of goo is no bankrupt because so many people downloaded their game for free except for pitching in and buying it.!
simonreo 2 years ago
that's not true at all
madpierrot92 2 years ago
I for one bought my copy of World of Goo. I got it at Wal-Mart for $15.
ldelporte 2 years ago

Smartman455 2 years ago
i have a question plz answer it
will this laptop play the sims 3 that just came out
Smartman455 2 years ago
i dont think so, laptops arent made for playing games.
also these are called NETbooks for a reason.
they can only play games from 2001-maybe 2005.
if you wanna play games buy a stationary for the same money.

im gonna test fable on my aspire one right away =D

would bioshock work on it?
shreddo 2 years ago
No. Not at any playable speeds I'm sure.
ldelporte 2 years ago
I was wondering if you could play WC3 and go into a Wintermaul Map and Dota and tell me how well it performed? I know this isn't for gaming, but just curious before buying one. Or somehow get a bunch of units on the screen and a lot of action and see what the frame rate is. THank you!

Erm... Emulation!...Erm
lilparadise1989 2 years ago
I'm not sure what you mean? Are you suggesting that I am emulating these games? If so, that would be even more impressive for the Acer Aspire One. If you are suggesting that I demonstrate emaulators in a video, that's been done already. You can search for it on YouTube.
Of course, you may just be excited about using your Acer Aspire One for emulation and that's what you mean when you say "Erm... Emulation!...Erm"
ldelporte 2 years ago
Correct! When I get the Acer aspire one I will be using it for emulation.
I mean it's perfect! Small enuf to go anywhere, big enuf display for a portable device. Its almost like it was made for emulation in my opinion.
Great Video by the way. I had no idea it could run GTA San Andreas.
lilparadise1989 2 years ago
is this Aspire One D250 or D150?
cicakdisco 2 years ago
I dunno, I don't have it anymore. I bought it, made this video... then I got enticed by the Asus N10j A2 and so I took my AAO back and ordered myself and Asus. However, the specs of the system are listed in the description.

would CounterStrikeSource work?
imafurryhusky 2 years ago
I think there is a vid of someone playing that. I think it only worked well enough to play on maps without textures.

so does bf2 work on it then?

no no !
battle field 2 does not work on it !

im a idiot ( i know ) but is it better to have more fps than say a lower nmber of fps??

higher the better
trungskiies 2 years ago
um. No. these things are pretty much you getting what you get and no more. In fact, I've heard that you can't even upgrade the RAM on these things because the RAM is soddered on the mainboard.

Has anyone tried running Gmod 10?
SicSolution 2 years ago
the GMA 950 isn't that incompetent. thanks for the video. ugh, would it be nice to see Nvidia Ion come to a netbook though? 9400M goodness for cheap :)

I was wondering f this played flyff
JET941 2 years ago
Although I personally have not tested it, I would say yes. But I could be wrong. If you buy this from Wal-Mart (like I did) you have 15 days to return it, so If it doesn't run the games you want it to, You can just return it. Simple as that.

i am looking for a netbook not to big but can play games like gta sa and halo 2 f.e.a.r or even maybe bioshock. I am between 2 netbooks the acer aspire one d150 with 2 gigs of ram or the asus n10 but the n10 is a bit too big....please help me!
harrypotter720 2 years ago
I have heard that the acer is better dont take my word for it but i would do some more research
Donut41894 2 years ago
the acer aspire one has intel gma 950 and the asus has nvidia geforce 9300 gs. Nvidia is much better in my oppinion but asus n10 is a little bit expensive thats why i want to know if the 200 dollars paid more are worth it.TNx for the reply btw :)
harrypotter720 2 years ago
The N10 is better for games. But the price increase isn't for the graphics card alone. There's the HDMI output, the 320 gig HD, Wireless N, bluetooth, The fact that it's an asus (with express gate) and thus more reliable and solid, nicer speakers, 2 gigs of ram... just to point out a few. If you buy an N10 and expect a gaming powerhouse, you will be disappointed. However, it is still the best netbook for gaming right now. If you OC the cpu it will be even better. BTW, Bioshock works on the N10.
ldelporte 2 years ago
do you think you would have any chances of playing SPORE?
atomi50 2 years ago
thanks for making this video it made my decision of buying a netbook easier but if u have mohaa can u plz test it on that
goofempire 2 years ago
I don't have this netbook anymore.. i took it back and bought the Asus N10j-A2 instead.
ldelporte 2 years ago
no offense dude but what's the point of getting an N10...it's ridiculously expensive, and no matter how good the components are, the atom processor is really crippling it.
for that price (in canada at least), you can get a Inspiron 14, 15, or even 13 with a dual core.
otoh, the AA1 is really good for it's price range.
bahasad 2 years ago
No offense taken. I realize that you are certainly right about the Atom crippling it. I have been annoyed by that a few times already. However, it still can run more games that the AAO. I was playing crysis at 10-20fps
Certain games I really wanted to play actually play really well on it too. Those games are Company off Heroes and Command and Conquer 3. Those were horrible on the AAO. Oh, and fable runs well on the N10, not crappy like on the AAO.
ldelporte 2 years ago
Also, regarding the higher price. I find that in several months when I have forgotten how much I spent on the system and my wallet has recovered, I will just be glad that I can do that much more with my netbook. The N10 has more to offer than gaming too. Such as HDMI output, bluetooth, nice speakers (sounds great), 320 gig HD, Wireless N. All those things played a large part in my decision as well. The graphics card would not have been enough by itself for me to switch.

How much is the cost of the new laptop ur getting (the one that can run COD 4 smoothly) I might by that one over this one but depends on the cost.
Kinsak 2 years ago
I bought it (Asus N10j-A2) for $761 after tax and free shipping from Amazon. There are other versions of it for cheaper if you look for them. some have smaller hard drives. It helps to overclock your processor though, but isn't completely necessary if you lower the settings.
ldelporte 2 years ago
Ok I'm going to get a laptop for my birthday and I'll just ask for a cheaper version of the computer ur getting. Can't wait :)
Kinsak 2 years ago
Nice video, can't believe AAO can run games! Will Flight Simulator X run? Or even Mirror's Edge?
50934 3 years ago
Doubt it and really doubt it. If the game is 3d and if it came out before say... 2003 there is a chance you can play it. otherwise probably very unlikely. Now, a lot of games will run, but very poorly. I actually just returned mine and ordered an ASUS N10 gaming netbook. It's a little larger with a 10.2 inch screen but still small. It has a Nvidia GF9300m with 256mb video ram (among other nice features). It can play COD4 and some other newer games as well. I will post some videos of it.
ldelporte 3 years ago
Congrats on your purchase. Which particular model do you have? Looking forward your YouTube vidz of games working and playable on ASUS N10.
asuseroako 3 years ago
I believe its the N10j.. I get it tomorrow. It has the 320 gig HD and 2 gigs of system memory. It will have Vista installed but will come with an XP Pro downgrade CD.
ldelporte 3 years ago
I looked at my order again. Specifically it's the N10J-A2 (I think that's the best one)
ldelporte 3 years ago
Indeed thats the N10J-A2 model. Have fun with it.
asuseroako 3 years ago
Game suggestions for your AAO:
1. ArmA (Armed Assault & Queen's Gambit)
2. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
asuseroako 3 years ago
Well.. um Call of Duty 4 I'm certain will run like poop.

Thank's for the compliment. I actually plan on showing guild wars in the next video.
