  • hahaha"cuai lou" perfecto!

  • Better than I speal Cantonese~

  • @rumbug

    China speaks mandarin

    Hong Kong speaks cantonese

Both of these languages are almost completely different, accept for some few words.Hong Kongese or Hong Kongers are cantonese people to begin,so of course they speak cantonese.

  • @NishaniXloveu Actually, if you you know how to read out written Cantonese (not colloquial), it is pretty similar to Mandarin. E.g. way-sa-ma = why-so-moh = Why? :)

  • @melonformula

Well, the way we speak completely different. We Cantonese people use slangs all the time. When we speak exactly like it's written makes us sound totally retarded. When learning Cantonese, it's best to learn the slangs or Chinese people will be laughing at you. XD

  • Jan Hai, Ho Kwok Wing hai Gei Wu. Jan Hai.

  • he looks so much like tanner glass

  • I am a Chinese living in Canada for more than thirty years and my English is not as good as his Chinese

  • he still has a little non-native accent

  • @ProdigyofHappiness

I have never heard a Native Chinese person speak English as well as he speaks Cantonese.

  • @brightlights456X

Hahaha, I can speak fluent English. Lots of Chinese people who goes to English schools can speak fluent English. I lived in America before and can speak fluent English thanks to everyone speaking only English. There are actually more native Chineses who can speak better English than a native English speaker. It's rare to find someone that's not native that can speak fluent (perfect) Cantonese.

  • @Samhiuys

Yeah, but you STILL have accents.

  • @brightlights456X

    how cares?

  • @ProdigyofHappiness That's okay I think. I am so happy that a lot of people appreciate and like Cantonese!

  • i love this its so funny

  • that's pretty kick ass. he speaks better cantonese than i do and i was born in hk.

  • 黒人

  • white people should be proud of you!

  • oh, I really don't know his name, I always watch him on tv. I know it now.

  • he should so get a grammy or something = )

  • Damn! I totally recognize his voice, of course!!! he is Wong Man Tak's voice double! hahaha awesome!

  • I have the ability to post the latest comment.

  • AWESOME. Simply AWESOME.

  • LOL, that's so true. In Hong Kong, you can act and sing. In fact, it's almost neccessary to do both.

  • love you voice

  • IMPRESSIVE! Wah! Ho sai leh!

  • haha, ur good

  • I cannot believe how well he can speak. I am so jealous.

  • yeah man! i know you !!

  • How to get more Cantonese than just having biological Cantonese parents and being born in Guangdong: learn the frigging language, not just speaking but also reading, writing, and especially hearing, yea I also heard an accent like other people commented before me.

  • goood !!

  • Comment removed

  • he speaked the word 'five' in cantonese absolutely correct. lots of hong kong people do not.

  • @channokyue spoke

  • @channokyue really? i thought it was mmm held out longer than him

  • he is a legend in tvb! Too bad they cant cast him in chinese ancient series. They should find him some role these days.

  • @spike378 actually they can cast him in an ancient series........for example, something involving the Silk Road and so on.....

  • @cobracurse

    cool :)

  • @spike378 Actually he has been in ancient series, he had a small part as some persian king or something in Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre 2000, the one with Lawrence Ng. =)

  • i use to watch this guy on tv when I was young!! Mr. (lauberson) haha..I love this guy...

  • This guy's awesome!

  • Cantonese

  • his word structure describing Wong Ming Tak was so funny .... he says Wong Ming Tak was very handsome but he was busy .... how is this two things related ... ?

  • @Kiseirusama

He said that Wong Ming Tak is very handsome and so busy with work, that he'll (Gregory Rivers) will do the voiceovers for Wong Ming Tak. He also does Mandarin voiceovers.

  • @Kiseirusama I think, not really sure, just my own idea, that he misspoke. He said "lang jai" meaning of course handsome man, but I think he meant to say "lek jai", meaning of course smart man. As such, "He's a very smart man, but really busy." Again, this is just my opinion, not really sure haha.

  • @Deadbolt715 Maybe you are right ....

  • every white guy in every tvb series xD

  • I KNOW YOU!!!! XD

  • Mierda. Este tipo habla mejor que yo el Cantonés

  • I laughed so hard I spit out my coffee, I am a native speaker but he is 100 times better than me, he has NO ACCENT AT ALL!

  • @eurasianchica You don't hear an accent because you don't know Cantonese! He certainly does have an accent that is typical of a native English speaker.

  • @infinera06 I do know Cantonese. I was born in a Cantonese speaking region to Cantonese speaking parents. You can't get much more cantonese than that.

  • @eurasianchica apparently you can get much more Cantonese that that. I hear an accent as well.

  • @infinera06 My wife is Cantonese, and can't tell. Try getting a cantonese speaker to listen and answer, without having them actually look at the person.

  • @boltronics Cantonese is my first language, albeit not my best. So I can tell you there is an accent, although not very bad.

  • @infinera06

    Is it similar to Mandarin?

  • @brightlights456X Far from it!

  • @infinera06

Mandarin is more common right? If I had to choose, I should choose to learn Mandarin. Can you speak it?

  • @brightlights456X No, I don't speak Mandarin. As for commonality, depends where you are. In Hong Kong and Guangzhou, it's Cantonese. If you are to learn one or the other, go with Mandarin.

  • @boltronics, he has an accent though it's not bad. your wife is probably not very fluent in cantonese.

  • 13 seconds, his accent there for a sec was abit off.

Besides that, its so accurate!, even his bye bye sounds cantonese -.-

  • He must be an egg! (white outside, yellow inside!)

  • Oh noes, The infiltration has already begun. Blind Cantonese people.

  • does anybody know if he still acts?

  • @tinfoilandy chow yun fat ask him to be his english tutor in hollywood he moved to cali .

  • gwai lo

  • @Chaniobi english guy lol thats what it means

  • gaa³佢邊學習有嗰冇錯嘅廣東話?我眞覺得妒忌囉... orz

  • i shat

  • 王敏德好靚仔啦<---haha

  • CHINGCHONG

  • @thevideoguy666 Ignoramus.

  • he used to be really famous. what happned? he should appear more in tvb dramas

  • He still has a pretty strong accent.

  • 好性感既眼神!

  • TVBDOOOD!

  • hey its mr robinson?!?!!

  • wow he speaks really good, but his accent isn't perfect

  • I like the sound of manderin better.

  • Johnny!!

  • I USED TO WATCH HIM WHEN I WAS SMALL LOL

  • I am a Chinese Australian! Lei ho! (I actually can't speak Cantonese so props to you dude!)

  • @extrekkie13 why do all Asians born or raised in other countries, especially western countries, always like to bring up the fact that they can't speak their home language?

  • @DeutscherFussball11 its a sure sign of envy.... lawlz.... i personally have none, but its simply amazing that english -white- people could pronounce the cantonese language since its a tonal system.... so i guess its worth giving a praise? its not that uncommon to hear english speaking people praise asians that their english or french are better....

  • @Channypogosticks I think you totally misunderstood what I said, I wasn't talking about white people speaking Cantonese, I was just saying ASIANS (especially Chinese) that are born in English speaking countries always like to bring out the fact that they don't speak their home language, as if they think that's more superior

  • @DeutscherFussball11 mnnnn maybe i worded it funny... i was saying how these abc's or whatever are just people who dont give a crap about their culture and like to say such things out loud alot because they simply are stunned how other races could out do what they should be able to do... its a sign of arrogance, thats what i mean.... they dont really think they are superior but they just envy in disguise... ~no offense to ab whatevers who cant speak their tounge~

  • @DeutscherFussball11 You are actually wrong when you say that Asians born in English speaking countries always like to bring out the fact that they don't speak their home language. I'm from Hong Kong and I still enjoying speaking Cantonese. I hope that I don't sound rude because I have no intentions to be rude, hehe.

  • @chorse661 I will speak every single language if given a chance but my language capacity is limited, I can already speak 5 fluently English and Spanish through education, Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese through my blood line. I will add in Russian as well, because of the beautiful russian woman.

  • @MingTheMerciful youre lucky, i got finish through blood and swedisn... Ive started on japanese whih is easy as far as pronounciation goes, tried mandarin whici i really like buts its so hard.. And my lady is thai, so im trying that as well, also hard with the intonations. wish i had mandarin n japanese given to me as well hehe!

  • @DeutscherFussball11 Because a lot of them can't. Also, I can't speak Cantonese because I'm from mainland China. Mandarin is my first language.

  • haha seriously, watched him since I was little.

  • OMFG man his cantos so good! i recognize him from some of the cantonese dramas i watched! Its always amazing to see people that arent chinese speak it. :)

  • I am ashamed of myself for being half from Hong Kong and knowing barely any cantonese compared to this guy...

  • Cheer~~

  • i'll never be as good as he is. win!

  • I used to watch him in hong kong dramas when I was little. He always have small parts but always noticeable cuz he is about the only white guy who speaks good cantonese.

  • @kateji heheh, small parts, but my impression he usually acts as big government officials.. hahah

  • @StRapier

haha ya, n mostly villain ~

  • This is hilarious. He even has the facial expressions and hand gestures down.

  • His Cantonese isn't that good compared to some of the Western Cantonese speakers also illustrated on Youtube.

  • WOW! SPOT ON!

  • o.O

    *speechless*

  • so um.....what the hell was he talking about? lol

  • @ThisPageStaysREAL Cantonese duh. He was talking about how long he was in Hong Kong and all, why bother looking if you don't understand....?

  • @iKonatan First of all dummy..I didnt ask what language he was speaking. The title says Cantonese. 2nd, I live in HK and teach English. 3rd, When I clicked the video, I thought perhaps there would be subtitles. I didnt think it was just a miracle that a non chinese person can speak Cantonese. And asking "why bother looking if you dont understand" is a statement that in itself seems to look down upon exploring new things or in anyway broadening your own conciousness. You seem "anti curiosity."

  • @iKonatan If you cant reply to what i said without trying to make me feel like im not allowed to watch this video, then dont reply at all. Unlike most people in the world, you obviously understand EVERYTHING you see EVERYWHERE in life at ALL TIMES. You obviously know the rules to every game, in every country, in every language. Because you've never looked at anything you didnt understand. good job... you're the man..

  • This guy also performs in TVB serials, right? I remember his name. He looks more handsome now...

  • OMG. lol ur very slight accent makes me appreciate it more b/c it shows that you've come all this way from learning it as a second language.

as opposed to it being perfect and i just think that you grew up in china or something (which i know you said you didn't do)

    but dude, you're amazing!

  • i think i can hear a tiny accent in a few of the words he said but he knows alot more words than me xD

  • @ronaldo4ever95 just a very miniscule accent. but as i said to him, his very slight accent makes me appreciate it more b/c it shows that he's come all this way from learning it as a second language. as opposed to it being perfect and i just think that he grew up in china or something (which he said he didn't do). anyway, if you're only confident enough to say that you 'think' he has an accent, you can probably do some brushing up ;)

  • Woo I'd seen his acting when I was a little kid and he still looks great!!! Haven't seen him in public for a long time, wondering what's he up to right now.

  • he looks like lionel messi

  • is he still acting? what happened to him?

  • Ohh...I recognized him. He plays almost every white dude in modern Chinese dramas. :)

  • hey he works for TVB, i like him, hes good at acting

  • but can he read?

  • I do believe he said he was a white man?XD

  • @Starman123baby but that he doesnt mind calling himself that

  • 其實佢而家去左邊度,真係好耐無見佢。

  • 香港粤语是不是没有广州粤语那么平?听起来尾音比较委婉。

  • Good speaking? What is he doing lately??

  • He is super talented :) Cantonese is a v hard language to learn...

  • His canto is better than mine. :| love seeing him on tvbs lol. :)

  • he's cute! he came hk when i born!

  • Behold the future of the Hong Kong Brits!

  • he is great~ his acting on TV was part of my childhood memory!!

  • wow his cantonese is really good

  • He need to make more good chinese movies like in the 90.

  • where is he now? Long ass time no see.

  • @redsox48888 thanks for the reply.. I'm now so embarrassed as I've lived in HK for 23 yrs and still struggling to learn some Cantonese.. My husband is British and he is hopeless with languages..

  • You are amazing! could you please translate Chinese to English word per word or per senctence? About this topic? That would be so helpful as I am learning Cantonese at the moment.. How did you learn to speak so fluently in Cantonese? What was the method?

  • @marshnita he lived in hong kong for 16 years you need to be in that kind of enviorment where they speak fluently to become that good or come from a chinese house hold

  • @redsox48888 actually, it's not entirely necessary to be immersed in a cantonese environment. take kwok wing, for example: he started learning cantonese in australia!

  • Comment removed

  • @Sassafrasican if u want to get that good u need to or u can grw up in a canto speaking household

  • wahhh..ho lek

  • lol guaii lo :O but he is good in tvb dramas :D

  • wow!!! he speaks goood cantonese :)

  • Wow, stumble by this video by accident. If anyone follows TVB series from HK, this guy resembles one of the actors often plays Western roles due to his looks.

  • @pistolphat uh, not "resembles" cuz this guy really IS one of the actors in TVB

  • omg god for a person who not chinese your language is very fluent.

    that is amzing

  • Wow, he's more fluent than me, I wish I could speak as well as him

  • WOW THATS REALLY GOOD FOR A WHITE MAN LOL!!

  • support 何國榮~!!!

  • Really good! :D

  • Damn hes good!!

  • Big deal.. if you grew up in HK and practiced it every day of course you're gonna be able to speak it like this. I don't understand why asian people start pounding off when they see some white person speaking their language well.

  • @westernprop have u seen a lion fly....

  • @westernprop you're right of course, I guess it's because for the last 20 years, it's been the other way around with very few white people even deigning to speak Cantonese or Mandarin, nowadays it's quite common.

  • @westernprop actually, he didn't grow up here, and it's a big deal, because, generally speaking, gwaai louws usually turn their noses up at any situation where english is not the pre-eminent lingua franca.

  • @westernprop the thing is, he pronounces the words as close to perfection as you can get (although he gets it wrong here and there) - it's rare to find a westerner who can speak a language like chinese so well due to because it's a tonal language unlike most european languages.

  • I grew up watching him on tv too xD

  • wow

  • i love this guy. grew up with his tv.

  • omfg, he's amazing seriously

his pronounciation and his cantonese is better than mine LOL
