Where this operator went wrong is he should have struck that last piece to "trip" the load, from the side. Buildings do fall over very fast...faster than that ball can swing out of the way. Easy or me to say...hindsight comes cheap.

I seen this in person. I was sitting in the grass to the left of the old Citadel clock tower in Charleston, SC. The crane operator was ok. This took him a few hours to get it to come down but the endings was great.
