  • great song classi

  • i am a brokeback mountain fan and i love this song. i got this cd and the movie

  • I wonder if the 3 dislikes were BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN FANS!!! LOL!!!!

  • MY FAVIORITE CUT BY THEM

  • Will Always Be One Of My Favorite Songs......Was Our High School Graduation Song.....

  • I love this song because my favorite group(Boyz II Men) named themselves after this song

  • This is my most favorite song from New Edition! I listen to it all the time!

  • the best song that johnny lead when he was with new edition

  • Johnny Gill Go Ahead !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey cool, this was the song that Boyz II Men got their name from.

  • Funny thing about this song is that Johnny Gill actually tried to sabotage it on purpose because he was angry at managment and he failed and ended up killing it funny how that emotion brought out the best in him

  • This song is as good as "Can you stand the rain". I think if the song was released as a single and if a video was made, Boys To Men would be a big hit as Can You Stand, if not a bigger hit.

  • 3 people must have hit the dislike button by mistake!

  • This song gives you a reality check all these years later... Alot of young men need to listen to this song.. It's a progress. Changing from a boy into a man.

  • I also remember that at this time, Johnny Gill was the newest member of New Edition and had not yet sang as a lead vocal on their songs. This was the song that he was given and he didn't like it. He protested this song being his "breakout" song. He reluctantly did it and it turned out to be one of N.E.'s greatest songs ever.

  • Maturity (being grown) is a state of mind more so than a state of age. This IS truly grown people's music. I was at the end of my teen years or the beginning of my twenty's, serving in the Navy when this song came out. I would constantly rewind the tape and play it so much that I went through many sets of batteries and for my walkman and the tape finally unraveled and came out. LOL! Gotta love the days of the cassette tape and walkman.

  • Everytime i hear this song,,i stop and reflect...just as i did 17 years ago!!!!

  • I'm glad I grew up on this music. It has style and substance. I was reading the comments of its listeners noticing the true reflection and deep thought the music conveys. Articulate and intelligent. We need to go back to this era of music.

  • What kind of person doesn't like this song?! The music is nice, the voices are incredible, the message is positive. How can you not like it you 3 ppl?

  • @stylngnprofilin Johnny Gill probably still hates this song

  • 3 people are still boys!

    That's a great NE song

  • im maturing without knowing...love classic R&B nothing better than this

  • "The three people who dislike this song don't have no concept of life"!! "Those three will stay stuck in stupity for sometime because this song is about life experience and trust me you will have to mature one day and if not you will be 62 with a mind of a 6 year old"!! "Pay close attention to the song words you three who disliked this song"!! "Open up your minds"!!!

  • I love this song.

  • My favorite N.E song ever..Johnny Gill killed it!!!!

  • i was 17 joining the military when this song came out . the perfect song while i was in boot camp.

  • The young artist need to listen to this song and learn how you are suppose to sing a song the right way....

  • i am in love with this song and i love to hear my bf sing it. im young in age but old in heart and this song is my ish

  • join the N.EFanClub on twitter @NEFANCLUB and they all have a twitter account and there's a teamtresvant on there too

  • This is grown folks music!!! Where is R&B at today?

  • "Johnny Gill sang the hell out of the lead on this song, the words are so true not only for "BOYS 2 MEN" but for "GIRLS 2 WOMEN TOO"!!! "NEW EDITION WAS A BAD AZZ GROUP BACK IN THE DAYS AND THOSE DAYS ARE MISSED"!! :)) "WHERE HAVE THE REAL MUSIC GONE"??

  • i'm 19 now and i've heard this a couple times before and listening to it now makes me feel even better about my mindset because i feel the same way they're stating in this song.........i guess thats why i love older women lmao!!!

  • No more black male r&b groups with masculine voices, masculine swagger

    #wtfisreallygoingon

    #ilovethissong

  • Johnny Gill is soooo underrated as a singer!

  • This song helped me stay focused while I was taking an macroeconomics quiz lol.

  • Have always loved this song..... a lesson that has stopped being taught!!!!

  • now dats ah cut 4 yoe asset, deeze r da thangs 2 change boys to men.........

  • IM 29 AND I REMEMBER MY AUNTIE BEATING THIS BACK TO BACK AND NOW LOOK AT ME ON THE SAME THING , THIS THAT DEAL

  • @jssstephenson, with all due respect,THIS is the group that backstreet boys WISH that they could be!

  • this is the truth!!

  • Johnny Gill killed this song, what a range

  • the black version of the backstreet boys

  • @jssstephenson Actually backstreet boys are the white version of boys 2 men since boys 2 men came first.

  • @FuzzyBunny28 sorry meant new edition LOL

  • This is definitely one of New Edition's best songs. They really under used one of the best R&B singers in the industry. They really need to give Johnny Gill more play.

  • I Love This Song!!!

  • johnny gill is the truth

  • great song

  • My Favorite New Edition song !!!!!!

  • this song rite here is one of my all time favorites.and it helps me when im think.this song makes me think about the gud times in my life

  • this is my jam baby.

  • This is not only beautiful melodically, but the lyrics are profound and should be shared. I always loved New Edition and the addition of Johnny Gill took them over the top. This guy can sing, for real. After years of not really listening to him, you realize he is very underrated. The rumors have always seemed to replace this great voice of his. The point is that he and the group were major talents and should not be forgotten. Thanks...

  • anybody know who wrote this?

  • @phatma1 Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

  • I love this song

  • Two people never grew up, lol.

  • J. G. got soo busy!! Love it!!

  • love this song..

  • wow, 2 people dislike... wow... they dont know real music!

  • This is all and all a good song. Sung very well by Johnny Gill, and backed by the rest of the members of New Edition, as well as very good song writing. Good music never dies. More artists should shrive to make and be known for good music more so than a "hot" track.

  • Love this song

  • You're a GOOD MAN RAHM

  • I played this for my son last month when he turned 21.

  • Awsome Short Film

  • 2 people have some growing up to do!!!

Johnny Gill went in on this track!!!

R&B was definetly at its best in the 80's and 90's!!!

  • @KaEdw1400 I was just saying that when I saw the two dislikes!!

  • ALL THE RANDB GROUPS NEED TO MAKE A REUNION TOUR AND PERFORM ON THE SAME CARD AND THE LAST GROUP WOULS BE THE JACKSONS LOL

  • I'm 20 and my step dad used to play all the good stuff when i was younger.dang i wish today's music was as deep as this!!thank God for youtube.

  • Two idiots don't know what good music sounds like!

  • that "dingy dingy" sound (electro cow bell?) really sounds like the 1985-92 when they were using that distinctive sound.

  • @uilium Make that 1984-92.

  • @QuietStormMan Yeah, your right.

  • This song is amazing! Music isn't like this no more. One day they need to play this song on every station. Teach our men lessons. This song is so beautiful and it makes a great amount of sense. Sounds terrific. Oh how I miss this music.

  • These are the things that change boys to men, when this song came out I was a junior in high school and I didn't quite understand the message, I know now that I was maturing without knowing, man wisdom helped me understand that it was time to grow up and make responsible choices for myself and my son. loved the song and the group. Big shouts out to my father who was instrumental in changing this boy to a responsible, productive man.

  • Parents and all adults need to play this son for the young men out here plus mj man in the mirror and the greatest love of all

  • Tell these dudes yall! These lyrics are super powerful!

  • Nice thanks for putting this on here!!

  • This song is so beautiful. I wish most boys now days could listen to it so they could go from a boy to a man!

  • classico do charme , no beile do vera cruz doas as sexta com CORELLO DJ. FERNANDINHO DJ bons tempos .

  • This is were the group Boys II Men got their name from. The "II" in their title refers to a continuation of the New Edition model.

  • lawd this takesssssssssssss me back. omggggggggggggg

  • Also miss when artist had a message in songs now you get people making songs that don't talk about shit.

  • @oleold Amen!!

  • great song from a great album miss when people made real music.

  • Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis two of the greatest to ever write music

  • New Edition's Heartbreak is one of their greatest albums to date!! NE, Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis did their thing on this track here... this kind of music needs to come back in a bad way. Johnny was crying his a** off in a good way.

  • I got this song down karaoke style. LOL took me a while but I got Gill down. LOL

  • @500348 you better go head and sing lol

  • THERE IS NO WORDS ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS SONG. I MISS THESE DAYS.

  • @BigSP4LIFE

This is so true. mean alot then, means more now

  • This is a real powerful song for a black male!!! My lil girl loves this when I play it!!!! This song has stuck wit me thru the years!!! I was a boy now imma man!!!!

  • I saw them at the old Boston Garden (heartbreak tour) with Booby Brown. That show was the SHIT!!!!

  • This is N.E. at their best. The maturity and emotion expressed in this song leaves me speechless.

  • I may be young but this song speaks to me more than most people

  • boi i dont no day without listen to this

  • Johnny sung the HELL outta this song! I'm a female and this song makes me teary-eyed and gives me chill.

  • CAN I JUS SAY JOHNNY GILL DID HIS THANG IN THIS SONG!!! HIS VOCALS ARE SOULFUL....HE MAKES U FEEL HOW IT WOULD FEEL TO BE A BOY GROWING INTO A MAN!!!

  • Just imagine if lyrics like these exsisted these days - damn what a difference!!

  • I love this song, Johnnie should have lead more songs. This not the bubble gum stuff they normally produced back in the day

  • way 1

  • i loved this entire LP, start to finish. To top it off, they dressed like real men on the cover. It was still cool to grow up back in those days.

  • So we search for answers to our questions

    Lookin for the answer

No answers but we are taught a lesson everytime

Through mistakes we've learned to gather wisdom

Life's responsibities falls into our hands.....

This was my fav song on this album

  • Respond to this video... if johnny did try to mess this song up like i heard he did...well this is one of the best mess ups ever!!.....artist today just don't mess music up like this this is what i call sung with the heart music...artist today sing with their wallets.

  • @cenalover386 LoL..if this is Johnny worst vocal performance on this song..then you know he is one of the best vocalist out there.

  • @cenalover386 When he said he was "Gonna mess this song up" in the VH1 special. He meant he was gonna sing it like no one has, in a good way. He wasn't trying to mess the song up so people wouldn't like it. He was gonna tear it up! etc.

  • @saginPhx I saw that special on vh1 a long time ago But I think I got his words backwards..lol it's still the best new edition song ever made!!

  • @cenalover386 In that VH-1 special. When he said that, he wasn't talking about messing it up in a bad way. He was talking about giving it his all and making it something great. People who say the opposite don't have comprehension of what was communicated.

  • @cenalover386 Yeah, he was on "Behind The Music" several years ago and he said that he hated this song because he thought it was cheesy and corny...but Jam & Lewis insisted that he sang lead on it. He did, but he wanted to mess this song up by oversinging at the end so it wouldn't make the record. Instead, the opposite happened- the song was a quiet storm favorite, it was the best track on the album and we got a great group out of it...Boyz II Men!!!!

  • johnny showed them who had the gills

  • i was so in love with ronnie when i was younger him and ralph shit ronnie can still get it.

  • LOVE THIS SONG ALOT MALES NEED 2 LISTEN 2 THIS SONG

  • @sampuka1 Johnny is working on a new album due out this year.

  • It's amazing you can sing a song about growing up and it sounds this good. Kids takes notes. You dont have to sing about your sex and body parts all the time to make a great song.

  • luv dis song bring back memories unlike music now days wat happened

  • I remember this album...this song was the last song on it. A great finale!

  • My favorite cut on this album/cd! SING IT JOHNNY!!!

  • @hardhead233 yeah he did not like this song and tried to mess it up. but it turned out to be the best song on the album

  • @BigD7997 i couldnt tell he didnt like this song...how u found out?

  • PERFECT HARMONY!!!!!!!! I got a question where r the songwriters from back in the days r at now, because we just don't hear music like this anymore what a shame and im not even going to mention the lack of real talented artist out there nowadays.i feel that back n the day it was for the loved of music thats why the music was so much better, now money first then the music. thats just my opinion,by the way OUTSTANDING JOB NE

  • Comment removed

  • NEW EDITION ROCK'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best song from a fantastic cd, they just don't make them like they use to

  • @jonathanjake1 YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!

  • @musicminor25 They sure don't. Very few young men are concerned with becoming men.

  • MS.BARROWFOREVER: I don't care if Johnny is the lead in this song as long as I can hear Ralph somewhere in the midst.

  • @musicminor25 kids today are way too busy doin the stanky leg and supermanin hoes LOL

  • @taskforce26 LMAO@supermanin.....but you're absolutely right......

  • @taskforce26 that is too funny but so true!!!!

  • @taskforce26 I'm kid myself but this is still and will always be a classic I even put it on my Prom video

  • @jonathanjake1 Great CD. Outstanding job by the guys with Flight Time

  • @jonathanjake1

And whats the name of that cd?

  • @Bryskens heartbreak

  • one of my favorites, classic new edition.

  • This is a nice song. True song!

  • Johnny did it on this song

  • I love this song!!!

  • Damn ,another great song found on youtube, thank you posting it up.

  • this was still is my song!

  • Johnny once stated that he hated this song. He was pissed off during the recording and didn't give a good effort. Ironically this turnt out to be a hell of a song. Good music produce good people, this junk that's out now isn't worth listening to. They promote model type artists that are light- skinned and can't actually but the idea is to focus on their looks and body to draw your attention away from the fact they can't sing. Can Rihanna actually sing....please

  • @jaie25 you are so right and Rihanna all so has a huge head too with her none singing self.

  • Thanks to you, musicminor25 I remember how music was suppose to sound and how talent is to be recognized.

  • mane i was a baby wen dis came out but my daddy taught me to study tha music that came before me as i got into producing music so dat i won't be like tha average 21 or 22 year old dese days. so i kno a lil sum'n. new edition was one of tha groups dat i caught on to after tha jackson 5. dis song is around 22 years old and it still means sumn. makes me reflect on dat verge from leavin my teenage years and entering my young adult years. so theres still some hope for dis generation w/ guys like me

  • this song reminds me of my troubled child hood and how far i have come ! i love this song

  • omg this song makes me wanna cry so bad. i love it so much i miss music like this so much..

  • new school take notes, from this old school shit cuz yall can learn sum real shitttt ya digggggg!

  • This song is one to grow on.

  • I really luv that late 80s era.

  • This song is truly blessed. Towards the end of the song I started to feel the spirit of God on me. All praise to Jesus.

    God Bless

  • 5th grade. I remember hearing this song and sticking my lil chest out preparing myself for adult hood! Love it!

  • I see Boyz II Men was influenced by this track. lol

  • @SEMAT56 It's where they got their group's name.

  • For someone who didn't enjoy this song Johnny did a damn good job performing it.

  • Damn, I've been listenin 2 this song since 1988, and never realized that this was New Edition sayin goodbye 2 all thier fans. lol And to think Johnny Gill didnt like it in the beginning ha ha What a way to go out.
