I understand where you come from with the "hiyah!" thing. But I can give you some insight. That noise is called a Kiyai, It's a shout or basically just a loud noise exclaimed when using a strike in martial arts, there are different variations, And Iyah (No there actually isn't an H in it) is one of them, they just tend to overdo it in some movies and tv shows. It's usually only used during training.
