For a beginning knitter it can be confusing to be taught to purl in this method and then told to knit into the back of the stitch. For a more experienced knitter, this should not be a problem. but I do not recommend this for a beginner or novice knitter.
fine if you just make a stocking stitch but all those twisted stitchs in a pattern? you have re mount them and all that phooey..I will just stick with abusing my index finger ..very nice clear video I must say..maybe someday I will see what people like in combined knitting..
@pheadrasfall Yes this method does twist the stitches but you can make up for that by simply knitting in the back of the stitches in the return ( you insert your needle from the right instead of the left ), when you do that your stitches aren't twisted. This is easier but obviously it's sort of cheating !
good for you!!!! That is the way I purl ever since I learn 40 years ago. I thought I was the only one as I have never seen a video showing it. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
Yes, that way is faster but on your knit row, the stitches are mounted incorrectly to do a regular knit stitch. You will then have to knit into the back loop so that your stitches will not be twisted.
This method of purling causes your stitches to be twisted.

This is how I learned to purl. No big deal to knit through the back loop. You did excellent details!

now that is some nice clear detailed video, good camera as well. How do you deal with the twisted "knit" stitches on the way back?
