Randy won 1st round with clinch and dirty boxing. Vera won 2nd round and nearly broke Randy in two with that knee, but the old guy hung in there. 3rd round could of went either way, the nod went to Randy. Probably because of the clinch control and a couple nice dirty boxing flurries. Very close fight and could of went either way.

What irritates me is how the commentators justified the judges decision by saying Couture controlled the fight - despite the fact that Randy's clinching achieved only one thing: it prevented him from being knocked out. It lead to no offensive success or damage to Vera. With this logic, a 400-pound fighter could sit on his opponent for 3 rounds and be given the victory because he "controlled" the fight. This was one of the most fraudulent decisions I've ever seen, and it's becoming a UFC trend.

Brandon took him down several times, knocked him down, and did more damage. Randy was clinching most of the time. Randy WAS good, but not that good anymore. And because of Randy's, reputation, everyone in MMA nowadays really study how he fights. So that's why he doesn't surprise opponents like he used to.

No offense but randy was never a great fighter. Hes just a solid fighter who got to fight in the media market of the u.s. He lost his fights to barnett who couldnt win in pride. Also randy best win was decisions against sylva. Another point is hes 16-10 when the ufc was very weak.
