  • This is one of the many Moodies songs that made me "wake up". Nobody else, to this day, has done better. The lyrics, the ethereal breathing in the background, the flute, the soft keyboards and guitar strumming. The change of tempo and graduation into rock n' roll drumming...then back again. Oh yah, the lyrics that have been running through my head for 40 years. He wrote it, but it's my song...one of the things inside my head

  • @alittlepale a beautiful comment...thank you....

  • Some live their dreams only to achieve and then pass on but the music that the

moody blue created doesn"t pass on it lives on inbeded in and bestowed apon the threshold of a dream made real as the album shares the days of future past

as these artist musicians help they soul awaken to the transendental state of love.peaces.understanding

  • '"One day I hope we'll be in perfect harmony, a planet with one mind."

  • for me , this was allways the driving force of the MOODY'S

however, they are all masterminds to me, espailly this album

    Pitty, this is all history......

  • mike pinder es el principal responsable de muchos pasajes oníricos y sublimes, que son en realidad las cosas que más nos sorprenden y agradan de esta gran banda; gran compositor de la mejor época de los moodies, una maravilla de canción!

  • Great production my friend * thumbs up * rock on ~ Peace~

    John aka TheFiddlah

  • of all the great Moodies albums, this is one of my favorites. Takes you to a different place. Got my tickets for the Moodies for May 8th. My fifth concert and I never tire of them. Peace to all.

  • Mike Pinder is such an underrated genius. His virtuosity at the keyboards is at least as good as Rick Wakeman's and he's a better writer and singer as well.

Most of my favourite Moody Blues songs were written by him. They take you to a better place.

  • A some is part of the whole..Keep the mind free

  • Mike Pinder was such a vital part of the great Moody Blues era - the first seven albums were superb and Mike's compositios were highlights of the albums

  • Music for body, mind and soul!

  • I love this song.

Everything in moderation, including moderation. 4:51

  • the first album I ever bought, age 17, I'm 55 now and I love just the same, the feel, the music, the sentiment, its just so good. thankyou ..

  • This song made me cry when I first heard it. Especially at the end as it's fading away..., it's like, don't worry Mike it'll be alright...,don't leave me......,Mike,,. can you hear me..........

  • beauty to find in so many ways -- the beauty of truth the beauty of giving the beauty of living, loving, learning, laughing, resting, chanting, singing, dancing, holding one another in loving embrace--please do tell us all the things inside your head Michael, then you will have told us all things inside the heart of love jai, Michael om peace--we are the life in other worlds--and the the life is truly living: the reborn in the spirit--when we sit with spine straight as able, then we give/receive

  • This song is deep. Pinder was underrated, just like the rest of the Moodies

  • aLL MILKY WAY for THIS :0)

  • awesome

  • I love this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,monkey

  • @freakshowallisonewe A beatuiful song excellent B&W images

  • @freakshowallisonewe great like it thank u monkey for sharing

    Nana

  • reaLLy CoooL :0)

  • A real masterpiece which is rarely played on FM radio stations nowadays. Hauntingly spiritual.

  • A real masterpiece with hauntingly spiritual overtones. Makes you think you're floating in space. Very etherial.

  • SUperB reaLly CooL THANKs

  • @ThePeeterd That which is eternal can never be outdated.

  • I can't believe that some people think that Moraz was better than Mike Pinder on keyboards. Pinder was THE underlying sound of the Moodies on their best albums, the first seven. After he left, they had to go to more of a pop style. They were never the same after that, missing Pinder's lush and cosmic, (and complex), arrangements. Check out Melancholy Man, So Deep Within You, Sun is still Shining, and his spaciest songs: My Song, and Out and In. To name a few. Wish he was still with them.

  • I love it. :-))

  • this is awesome. love this.

  • This song will bring me to tears. It's so very beautiful and really moves me. Thanks Moodies for changing my life.

  • Sometimes I find it very difficult to contain the full beauty of this song. Listening to the Moodies is a very strong experience, one that can stir emotions even at the hearts of the most cynical people.

  • Ah, the Pinder Mellotron. I have had my hit for today. Thanks for posting this awesome song from a young 29 years ago!

  • alphaclam, when I went to see them several years ago there was everyone from younger kids than you to some much older than myself and I'm 51. The one thing I thought was wonderful was all ages were singing. They are great and that greatness spans generations. I've been a fan since I was a little kid and first heard "Go Now."

  • This was always my very favourite Moodies song from the first time I heard it.

No other song stirs me as much, never has, never will

  • alphaclam dear,

    you are far from lame.

You are discerning of the brilliance and mastery of phenomenal musicians who actually have something to say, whose music takes you somewhere; males you think.

    No. you are not lame.

You are apparently more sensitive and complex than some of your peers.

I can confirm that the Moodies have a broad range of listeners, and ALL love them for the same reasons.

Thanks Be for the Moody Blues.

  • Wow I feel lame being 16 and listening to the Moody Blues, everyone whose posted here is probably like 40+ but they are amazing without a doubt

  • @alphaclam Good for you , your right I'm 55 and their one of my first favorite bands. I just checked out a young new group , Miss May I , you can see my comment . It wasn't good to say the least . I still listen to hard rock , like Shinedown -Devour , Kings of Leon There's still hope for new groups ,Thur the 80's it got pretty bad , but Rock will never die !!!

  • @alphaclam I completely agree with moodylicious! You are the antithesis of lame. Don't ever think you are lame. I think you are very enlightened, and you have an ear for great music. When I was a teenager in the 80's, I was one of very few people in my school who listened to them. Hats off to you!

  • I love this video.

The music is very beautiful and the pictures are wonderful.

    Friendly greetings,

    Michael

  • My song, yer song,

    aways this OBSESSION with balance!

  • @xke00ko Dude

  • @thedoctoruncle Double Dude back at ya :)

  • I listened to this song a long time before you

Word would get drunk and listen why I do not know much

  • RIP Tony Clarke, producer of the "Classic Eight."

  • too bad mike isn't back in the moodies now- a few of his songs would be a breath of fresh air and balance the pop stuff justin and john write now..but its not gonna happen now.

  • Wonderful video.

    Beautiful song and pictures.

    Friendly greetings,

    Michael

  • anyways, the music is nice. It's creepy I like that =D

  • When people have music videos mostly they just add pics. they should have an animation, lol.

  • @findthetruthamerica Intresting!

  • One day I hope will be in perfect harmony, a planet with one mind.....then I can tell You all the things inside my head...

  • 酔ってますが」ずっと 聴いておりました

    英語なので判りませぬが 非常に感動です

    ムディーーブルースってこんな曲があったのですね

    素晴らしいですね♪

  • Beautiful song and gorgeous drawings!

  • 4:45 to the end was some of the most haunting music I've ever heard.

  • Oh yeah, that poem is at the end of the album In Search of lost chord.

  • important to some so they give it a word and the word is OM....

sorry this part didnt fit the last post.

  • This God and Universe vibrates complete. Some make it a sound so sweet. Vibrations reach on up to become light then thru gamma out of sight. Between the eyes and ears they lie, the sound of color, and the light of a sigh. And to hear the sun what a thing to believe, but its all around if we could but receive? To know ultra-violet, infra-red, and x-rays beauty to find in so many ways. Two notes of the chord thats our horoscope but to reach the chord is our lifes hope, and to name the chord is

  • Mike says in his website that in search of the lost chord comes from the title of a jimmy durante song, john sebastian was trying to sound like durante when he wrote daydream [ a pie in the face for being a sleepy bull toad] .

  • @delayna777

    ahhh ooohm.

    listen, hear the sound.....

  • Many times I and my friends have cued up the first 8 albums and played them in order. What an incredible message and Michael Pinder always provided the final and essential piece of the album and story. Just like this.

  • oh how I miss the music of the 70ties and early 80ties. Music for body, mind and soul. Music with lyrics with a meaning and music with feeling and a will to explore and mix classic music with blues, rock that resulted in a masterpiece like this!Music that stays with for as long as you live.

  • every good boys ....perhaps, the best album of moodies

  • If I'm not mistaken, I believe it was Tony Clark (one of the original producers for the Moodies) named them " The smallest orchestra in the world"

  • What a song... a song that never ends...

  • the forces of this band are too many to count

  • that's the force of this band every member write and brings his style , moods, and spirit to the whole moody blues peace of art... like a band with many voices many talents and many faces... it reminds me the beatles ... those bands with 3 (or more) potential members songwriters gives very often the best bands ...like the beatles, the byrds (of the psych. trilogy 66-68) ...and some others...

With Hayward , Pinder is my fave members of the Band... i like a lot 'In and Out ' too

  • I liked it.

  • It would appear that we have a lot of people who understand what the Moodies are all about. And keep on thinking free!

  • Very atmospheric peice from Pinder. Always liked his work

  • Timeless, and in a class of its own. What a great song.

  • Beautiful song and pictures.5*

    I really enjoyed it.

    greets,

    michael

  • Probably MIke Pinder's magnum opus! I also love "out and in"but the lyrics and the incredible mellotron in this song are mind-blowing

  • My sentiments exactly. I resonate with the other views here of similar content. Mike Pinder and the MBs, especially with "My Song," have stuck a common cord in so many of us. Call it spiritual, or better yet, the impulse to look deep into the mysteries of life. I never tire of this master piece since the album came out when I was in High School. Always wanted to make a movie for My Song. Thanks to YouTube I think I will now attempt it using many of the same (you know, "enhanced") mental images.

  • This may be the best example of the "Pindertron" in full use. THe early 7 MB albumns used that wonderful instrument called the mellotron - and in this amazing song, Mike shows why he is the master above all with it. I never get tired of hearing this - even after 30 plus years!

  • A song that never ends....

  • wow love can change our destiny

  • How do you tell a songwriter how much you love their music? How you listen to it when you are sad to cheer you up--to celebrate with you when you are happy--Pour a glass of wine and escape with them into their world--how over the years their music has been woven into the very fabric of your life. I can't imagine my life without the music of Mike Pinder and the Moody Blues. Thank you for being modern day minstrels. You are all in a class by yourselves. Long live the Moodies!!

  • you say it,very nice,i love moody .I think so,I can`t understand a life without the moody-music.Long live.

  • @cathycmc Holly smokes LOL! I couldent have said it better, thank's for saying it for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cathycmc I so agree with your comments. They have been a crucial part of my life from the moment i first heard "Question". I was lucky enough to see them in Dublin some years ago with Patrick Moraz. I adore them too like millions of people all over the world...

  • @cathycmc I feel the same way! When I came home from Vietnam, the Moody Blues were my escape when I had a hard time dealing with life. I didn't think they had all the answers they were just so polished, so soothing that I could relax and come up with the answers myself. I have since seen the Moody Blues about 8 times (each time gets better) and I even had the chance to speak to Mike on the phone. They are all incredible and thankfully still around. Now, let's get them in the Hall of Fame.

  • There are some excellent comments here. This song is a masterpiece without doubt, and Mike Pinder's musicianship is pure genius. It's worth checking out some of his other compositions such as "Lost in a Lost World" from "Seventh Sojourn" and his final contribution as a Moody Blue - "One Step into the Light" off the album "Octave". Sheer brilliance.

  • @badgesett Don't forget his beautiful solo albums "The Promise" & "Among the Stars" and other work. And if you buy a CD from his website he will autograph it!

  • I love your video, Period. Thank you:)

  • I first listened to this in 1971- coming down from an acid trip. I realized so much.

and I read that Timothy Leary turned Pinder Hayward and Thomas on for 3 days with high quality LSD- kinda like a Huichole indian peyote ritual.

What we are as opposed to what we could be .." a planet with one mind.." imagine the possibilities and joy.

  • This brings back so many memories as a young teenager spending hours listening to the Blues, memorizing the lyrics to every song. Waiting for the next album. Attending Blues concerts. They made back then one of the best times in my life. Blues music will always be fresh in my head.

  • This song has always and alwys will be a masterpiece of playing and songwriting.

  • Pinder.. always thought provoking..

    Outstanding

  • yes like the song - aqnd its true songs like these - will last a lifetime

  • This song is a masterpiece!!!

  • Just Brilliant!!! Thanks Soo Much!...Anita

  • Such an amazing song.Amazingly, what they created back then..in some cases were like masterpieces.

  • esta canción es una maravilla,la hice mia hace mucho mucho tiempo. está escrita en mi corazón para siempre

  • Songs like this will never lose their relevance

  • well.. people say the moodies are not progressive. i dont care about definisions. this is one of their best genius songs !

  • A rare beauty... a work of a true genious. The Moodies without Mike is like an empty shell. How sad.

Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Classic Moody's!!!! Still sounds fresh to this day.

  • great song

  • Just Beautiful!!! Just Love it! Thanks

  • Beautiful music from a gifted lovely man. We miss you!

  • An all-time classic. Breathtaking. Who else but Mike Pinder can speak so simply and directly and profoundly? Truly a person with a heart and mind as big as the universe.

  • Lost and underrated.

    Lovely. Just lovely.

  • Thanks for sharing1

  • Mike's parting left a big hole in the writing and sound of the Moodies. They moved on, but many of us miss his touch madly. Now with Ray also gone, the live shows are not the same...they never will be.

They have crossed over the threshold...but will forever be remember as truly great cosmic rockers !!

  • thanks

  • I begun hearing the music of The Moody Blues around twenty five years ago... And I still feeling the same any time I hear this songs again. I always love in a special way the Mike Pinder's compositions, I think he was (is) a very sensitive human being, and the lirics of themes like "My song" or "When you're a free man again" are the best proof of what I mean.

I never stop giving thanks to the Moodies for their music.

  • great sentiments fellow Moodies fans let us all unite, start by sending all your money to me to rich people to show that you, like me, renounce greed, capitalism, possessions and other things.

  • I remember enjoying this song and the Every Good Boy Deserves Favour album as a 14 year old in 1971/2. I hadn't heard it in well over 30 years. It still sounds great, and hasn't dated.I can see why my teenage self was impressed. Thanks for posting.

  • the top music from Moodies ( my taste, of course ). Since first time i've heard,"My Song" is my favorite music among great songs that Moody Blues has. My hopes Mike Pinder returns back to Moody even for one just live concert.

  • My Song.....Mike Pinder! Wow! What a beautiful song! Mike was (is) the soul of the Moody Blues. Genius song writer, arranger, musician. His Mellotron WAS (is)the Moodies sound. We miss you Mike!

  • Tausendmal danke ich Ihnen! [1000x thanks to you!]

  • The man is a genius! I love the Moodys and so wish they could reunite before it's too late.

  • this is me and my dad's favorite song!

  • I would have to agree with you Berrygirl, as always regarding Michael Pinders best song. Even though he died in a pickle vat, the memories live on. Just kidding folks, I am not that stupid.

    Planky

  • berrygirl1964:

You are absolutely right about this being his 2nd best sond after Have You Heard (The Voyage, I believe, is credited to Edge).

  • beautiful song.

I'ts a pitty Mike is not a bandmember of the

Moodyblues, Maybe you never know he is back, shen the Moodies celebrate their 50tiest

    anyversary.

  • their finest, therefore possibly the best ever

  • yeah! this ls really good! but all you guys knew that! i love this stuff! and candle? you have that right! my 16'th century castle just struck an asteroid!

  • Journey to another star!

  • To All Songwriters Out There... When you write from the heart, from the Spirit, this is the greatness waiting to come out...

  • No... On second thought, perhaps we are being transported musically to the edge of our universe on the verge of discovering the next one...

  • Thank you for putting this MB masterpiece on youtube.

Anyone here that is new to MB music has just experienced the power behind the songs of these brilliant songwriter/musicians. It's almost as though we are transported with them to their previous lives, perhaps somewhere in the castles of 16th century England......

  • perhaps the moody blues best song

  • Very nicely put together!

  • great song and enjoyed the drawings
