  • @Electronitron you want people to speak for you? nope. yet you do.

  • @DrMattDestruction you do for others*.

  • @Electronitron I don't think I asked you too, person who mistook my comment for a "like this if you've been listening to this song since before Jesus rode an ass to his death".

  • @MrCaptain221 I found this in the 5th grade, I'm a sophomore in high school

    :) nostalgia

  • Hey. It doesn't matter where the band comes from, all the matters is the music. Now shut up and listen to the great band.

  • Great band!

  • there is no shortage of good canadian music.

  • I love her

  • I love how soapman was top rated, then I opposed him and was top rated, and now someone who discussing the entire problem of finding old comments that were responded to is top rated.

How far away can we get from the original video?

  • Thank you Metric for making this song.

  • Canada has its greats, but of course there are bad eggs that ruin it for everyone else. This band is one of its greats.

  • Canadian music always seems to be more bleeding edge, there's more indie/experimental stuff than compared to the US. Unfortunately, the US still dominates the charts with uninspired, tired and formulaic pop hits.

  • @idstealth ever heard of The Strokes, The Black Keys, Broken Bells, Cage the Elephant, Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, Modest Mouse or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? All US Bands, and all WIN.

    So you are wrong, sorry.

  • @KungLaoChicken Dude, I'm talking about POP acts, unless you would classify The Strokes, Cage The Elephant, or The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as "pop". (In which case you should be crucified) The ratio of pop-stars to rock-stars to emerge from the US is most definitely higher than that of Canada. So simply listing examples to counter my point is saying nothing at all.

    So you are wrong, sorry.

  • @idstealth Just cause the US holds a higher ratio of pop-to-rock artists in its mainstream music doesn't mean that it has less inspired acts outside of pop.

    I'll give you an example...

say Canada has 1000 artists, 600 of which are great non-pop bands.

US has 3000 artists, 800 of which are great, non-pop bands.

Canada has a higher ratio of good artists but the US still has a larger amount of good artists.

    So I'm not wrong, sorry.

  • @KungLaoChicken You think absolute values are more telling than ratios... *facepalm*

  • @idstealth they actually are...cause when I look at my music library...it shows all the awesome artists that exist in the US, Canada or anywhere else. It doesn't focus on a lot of the garbage that exists in the mainstream culture. I'll let you worry about ratios between good artists vs bad artists. I'll just pay attention to musicians that have talent.

  • @KungLaoChicken Celebrate those that have talent, shun those who don't (but act as if they do). Or else, the good will eventually die out. Which is why I make the comparison. Cheers!

  • @idstealth fair enough, that's what I do too

  • Lol that action figure too cute!! X3

  • if this is canadas standard of music, then i wanna relocate

  • I love Emily Haines, she looks like she would be a blast to hang out with, But as a song writer this is what i like

Most writers engage in word play to some extent, but certain writers are particularly committed to, or adept at, word play as a major feature of their work . Shakespeare's "quibbles" have made him a noted punster. Similarly, P.G. Wodehouse was hailed by The Times as a "comic genius recognized in his lifetime as a classic and an old master of farce" for his own wordplay

  • @stclairstclair

And that has what to do with Emily Haines?...

  • @lumburgapalooza

..wordplay. Is it that difficult to ascertain?

  • @AoshiShinomori

Do you mean "comprehend", or are you asking me if it's difficult for me to find something out for certain? I understand wordplay as a concept, I'm just not sure why the commenter felt the need to pick random artists known for wordplay for no apparent reason other than acknowledging their existence...

    /shrug

  • @SpencerhasAJetPack

    Yeah, totally.

*Puts on black rimmed glasses and flips hair*

  • @SpencerhasAJetPack Super-hipster: Only likes music by bands that only exist in a comic book. Bet you're a sucker for Dazzler too.

  • a little disappointing, i totally thought the song was come back baby, in retrospect I probly should have listened to the actual verses

  • @mjmontg2 I think it's "Combat Baby, Come back baby"

  • @goofygrrl It might be both, you know, like Hendrix's "kiss the sky" and "kiss this guy".

  • lovin' this sog. They should've put this in the scott pilgrim movie, would suit the credits

  • nvm that last comment, i just couldn't hear it

  • i like the rock band version better because of the key board

  • I think i first saw this music video on "the wedge"

  • 2011 baby!!

  • @TheYTPNetwork obviously you know nothing about musicians in Canada then because some of the biggest groups world wide come from here

  • great

  • You missed Arcade Fire...they won best band at the Grammy's...they're the U.S. music awards in case you don't follow any conversation whatsoever...and yes, they're also Canadian...Broken Social Scene is also Canadian...and also great...seems to me that a lot of the great music of the last few decades is dun dun dun dah...Canadian!

  • @TheYTPNetwork Seriously? Metric Sloan Neil Young Sam Roberts Leonard Cohen The Guess Who Tragically Hip Alanis Morissette Feist Nelly Furtado Bif Naked Diana Krall Billy Talent The Trews Alexisonfire Tokyo Police Club Finger Eleven Etc, Etc, ...Those are off the top of my head, i probably missed a bunch and could go on and on. You clearly are a sheltered and ignorant individual if you think all Canadian music sucks. No sir, it's YOU that sucks.
  • @JesusIsKindaGay half the bands u listed fucking suck. im canadian and im astonished that these are the people we have to show off to the world saying THIS IS CANADIAN MUSIC. half that shit is terrible.

  • @JesusIsKindaGay men please dont forget Arcade Fire....

  • @CLASHofTHElonders That actually made lo irl XD

though you might want to take a look at the world, cause so far, 2012 isnt looking promising...

  • @MoreOverlords111 Thats embarrasing

  • @TheTechnoTurtle Lady Gaga isn't Canadian, don't worry.

  • Nice!

  • @allusernamesrtaken4

    metric was signed in 2000

    tagan and sara 2002

  • @MissSeptum

You make usernames based on your piercings. tegan and sara suck anyway.

  • Ko Kapches, USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker), K-os, Hollerado, Metric, Hedley, Bedouin Soundclash, City and Colour, Finger Eleven...

  • The video probably would have scared me so bad when I was younger.

    I LOVE the song though.

  • @gimmexsympathy She's a musician, what makes you think she'd want to win such a pathetic award?

  • Cant get over this song!

  • Good song but weird music video.

  • Im pretty sure i found this band by simply typing the random word metric into google because i wanted to find new interesting bands. wow im lucky.

  • I found this band on Rockband

  • Those legs!

  • There is a slightly different version of the song, an earlier recording i think, with more sparse instrumentation and less attitudey/bitchy and more tender vocals from Emily that I think you guys might like better than the LP version. Try Hype Machine to find it (can't seem to post links :(

  • Oh...The XX's : Islands sound kind like this song's intro...coincidence I guess

  • @Pazrevol

Holy Stuff, I don't think it sounds the same but if it wasn't for this comment of yours I would have never found that awesome song!

i said "ugh, canadian music FOR THE WIN"

cannot you not read? FOR THE WIN. FOR THE WIN. FOR THE WIN.

    which states i love it

    "ugh" meaning "UGH YES"

    meaning sexual sounding.

please read my comment carefully before trying to insult me. please and thank you,

    - a fellow canadian.

  • @sincerelyoliviaann you think "ugh" is sexual sounding? I'm sorry >.>

  • @needsmorsleep

don't you ever do that? something good comes along, you go "ugh yes"

    or "ugh baby"

because "uhh" wouldn't be the right sound. it's "ugh"

  • THOSE LEGS OMG !!!!

  • @mangazo15 its almost like they are robotic!
