I have read somewhere that prior to 1805 abortion was considered a private matter, and while not like having a cup of tea, abortion was not considered to be murder. Does anyone here know if there were any laws regarding abortion prior to 1805 ?

Prior to 1869, the Christian view was that a fetus got a soul after 30 days (Male) or 90 days (Female). Before 30 days, there was no reason not to abort. Pope Pius IX changed the collective mind of Christianity, not based on scripture or evidence, but because he decided that a soul existed at conception. There is nothing to back that up, other than his opinion which became the religious standard for Christians.

I have been in the medical field for 20 years. It is amazing to see a human heart beat at 6 weeks of age or see a baby that is the result of a miscarriage at 6 weeks, when the shape of a human form is already present.
