  • I'm glad you mentioned that because we have slightly modified the originial version. We no longer use the chains because they are unecessary. Plus when I use the Miracle Grate I normally leave it folded up and just simply pull it out of the grill then place the newspaper inside and replace the Miracle Grate over the paper. This is very easy to do. Thanks for looking at my product and maybe down the road you'll give it a try. There are a number of great features besides the starting aspect!

  • My personal opinion, to many moving parts.I'll stick with my chimney starter.

  • The Argau Camping Toasters would be a great accessory

  • I personaly still like the chimney started due to the simple fact you can pour the burning coals where you need them (( Hot side cold side Scenario)) Also you wouldn't really need tongues or a fork to spread the coals around. But The Miracle Grate is a neat Idea :)

  • Good luck with your product, Curt! Hope it takes off for you!

  • Thanks for reviewing the Miracle Grate. For indirect cooking you can simply leave the coals in the middle of the grill. Many people currently using the product have indicated that this works well for them. And just one other item I should mention while I'm out here is that our patent has been issued and is no longer pending. The Miracle Grate is now protected under U.S. Patent 7,753,045.

  • I've noticed one thing with this lovely little device that is .. not a big deal but a little annoying I guess. When you release the coals they go over the whole grill. This is good for a quick hot cook but for BBQing some thing you want a cool side and a grill side or sometimes you want the coals on the sides with an open spot in the center. You can always use tongs but still.. it's easy and a bit quicker to just pour them into the proper place.

  • Very neat! As a mom, I really like the idea of not having to use lighter fluid, which in turn taints the food!! Very cool miraclecurt!!!

  • I used the prototype 22.5" miracle grate last weekend for steaks and chicken (asparagus as well toward the end) and it was fantastic. A simple start process and no hot chimney to handle with sparks or embers flying. The hinged grill worked great and the coals were perfect. Even if you still use lighter fluid, the fact that you don't have to handle the hot fire is reason enough to buy this!!

  • FYI- I've been using Kingsford Competition Briquets on my 22.5" Miracle Grate prototype and the fire is going in about 10-12 minutes on average with even fewer coals than before. I cooked 4 nice size burgers last night without folding down the Miracle Grate. And we look to start production soon on the 22.5" model!

  • This is a nice little invention but the huge drawback I see immediately with this is that it works ONLY with medium/large-sized Weber kettle grills. This doesn't help me with my cheapo Wal-Mart grill or my Char-Griller grill. The Weber chimney starter works with ANY grill.

  • Unfortunately it is not possible to create one single uniform Miracle Grate for all charcoal grills. Each Miracle Grate is specific to a particular model and size. At this time we have found it prudent to start with the Weber models since they are the most popular charcoal grills sold. Thanks for watching the video and commenting on the invention. If you purchase a Weber model in the future I look forward to selling you a Miracle Grate!

  • Very useful invention. It can save my day.

  • if the difference between this and a charcoal starter in $ is significant, then this isnt going to take off. Those are more compaible(you cant take to some other grill and it would still work,Most people will just put the starter on the grill and it works jut fine.

  • You can't just look at the dollar difference between the two. First of all you are replacing both the charcoal grate AND the chimney starter. Plus the following: 1) Can reuse charcoal easier, saving on costs 2) Allows for indirect cooking around perimeter of grill 3) Can use less charcoal with the miracle grate folded up during the cooking process 4) Can determine the exact amount of coals needed to cook, start the fire and never move the coals, much eaiser than the chimney starter to use

  • I once got a huge blister on my leg because I set the chimney starter on the ground and accidentally touched it when it was still hot. I still have an ugly scar on my leg. I wish I knew about your product earlier! This is a very cool product. I wish you guys success

  • @dboy4ever well that was dumb.

  • Thanks for commenting and viewing the video. You're right, the concept is very similar to the chimney starter. There are a couple of unique features of the Miracle Grate though- 1) Unlike the chimney starter, the Miracle Grate remains in the grill. You don't have to worry about where to start the fire and where to put the Miracle Grate after the coals are ready 2) Using the Miracle Grate folded up allows you to cook with fewer coals, thus saving money over the long run vs the chimney starter.

  • Its the same concept as the chimney starter. You dont need any lighter fluid for the chimney starter, the only factor would probably be the cost of this device.
