We were never married and she was an insane psychotic women who was impossible to deal with on any rational level. The judge based my payment on potential earnings of 42,000yr when in fact I only made about 1/2 of that! I was paying 500 a month with no court order and she wanted more. Im behind cause she killed cash cow.

my father is a really good example of not living up to child support terms, hes one of them men who wrote a cheque for me and my sister for £2.50 to go in our bank every week, when he was supposed to give £25 every two weeks straight to my mother. he would occasionally buy us clothes and only let us take them home when they were too small. my mother still made us survive and got us through and it made me adore her even more how strong she was

I had a good father. When my parents divorced, my dad had to pay child support even though my mom made twice what he did. My dad made his payments every time they were due, and when he could, he gave us a little extra. My sister and I never saw that money because my mom would go out partying every weeked, and then she wanted to complain the my sister and I couldn't get new shoes or clothes when we needed them. Some people just don't get it.

My biological mother skipped her payments regularly, and actually landed herself in jail a few times. She also asked my father if she could pay him the money in court, then he could essentially give it back to her under the table. Mind you, my dad was 22, a single parent, working 2 jobs, and in college. She eventually signed her rights away to me entirely when she found out she wouldn't have to make payments any longer.
I haven't seen or heard from her since I was 3 years old, and I'm now 19.

My dad never paid child support for me and my brother when he had a perfectly good paying job and lots of money. My mum had to bring us both up on her own she worked days and nights at an insurance place in the day and as a hospital receptionist at night. Lots of days we went without food and she tried her best so that we where safe. I think this was well said because this has nothing to do with women "needing a man" and "all dads are deadbeats" this has everything to do with responsibility. I have a car payment and a home. electricity, cable, but I have 20.00 to 30.00 in the end. the government looks at every situation the same now. My dad and mom have been split for two years and for awhile we were living in this disgusting roach infested apartment with 3 people while he sat in a big house with four bedrooms and a two car garage. Did your father have a high level of certainty that the children were his? Was he bankrupted in Family Court for lawyer, psychologist, child monitor fees? Was he able to pay $600 /month? If he didn't have to pay rent for his own place and instead lived with his children, he would have been able to contribute more.
Are you sure you have the real story? Fathers are often forced out by family court and the mother.

We were never married and she was an insane psychotic women who was impossible to deal with on any rational level. The judge based my payment on potential earnings of 42,000yr when in fact I only made about 1/2 of that! I was paying 500 a month with no court order and she wanted more. Im behind cause she killed cash cow.

Your opinion is pathetic and is only based on worst case scenarios that doesn't tell the whole truth. It's common knowledge and now a constitutional law which basically says that the act of having sex alone does not mean that you want a child or should be forced to have a child just because you chose to have sex.
The SCOTUS declared that in the case of Roe v. Wade, but only women have been able to benefit from this law, which in all honesty discriminates against half of the US.

So, it would seem that women are the MAJORITY of people leaving the family. I had a good father. When my parents divorced, my dad had to pay child support even though my mom made twice what he did. My dad made his payments every time they were due, and when he could, he gave us a little extra. My sister and I never saw that money because my mom would go out partying every weeked, and then she wanted to complain the my sister and I couldn't get new shoes or clothes when we needed them. My biological mother skipped her payments regularly, and actually landed herself in jail a few times. She also asked my father if she could pay him the money in court, then he could essentially give it back to her under the table. Mind you, my dad was 22, a single parent, working 2 jobs, and in college. She eventually signed her rights away to me entirely when she found out she wouldn't have to make payments any longer.
I haven't seen or heard from her since I was 3 years old, and I'm now 19.

My dad never paid child support for me and my brother when he had a perfectly good paying job and lots of money. My mum had to bring us both up on her own she worked days and nights at an insurance place in the day and as a hospital receptionist at night. Lots of days we went without food and she tried her best so that we where safe. Men's role is not to make money for strange women. Men don't have a right to be a father. Men were removed from the family in the 1960's and 70's. Men should not have anything to do with women and their families. Why should a man support someone else's family and children?

sorry bro. your situation was different. But on my end. I have 2 kids, one I pay 600.00 and one of them I have to pay 950.00 for. She can take my money but wont let me have visitation. I have a car payment and a home. electricity, cable, but I have 20.00 to 30.00 in the end. the government looks at every situation the same now. Im being treated like im rich bc I put forth the effort to make sure my family has the best.

I think that child support should be done away with and replaced by joint custody. If one wishes not to be involved in childs life, he/she should pay.

My mom and dad are divorced and we got into a interesting situation. My father was great and i love him, but my mother had to give money to my dad even though he didnt take care of me. He was still trying to find a home because he was poor even though my mother was rich she gave him very little and gave us little where as my dad gave as much as he could with what he had; he tried to make us happy, mom didnt; i wasnt happy. I missed seeing my dad but i get to see him now so... i guess its ok

I'm in this situation with my dad. I'm 14 and my sister is 17. My dad and mom have been split for two years and for awhile we were living in this disgusting roach infested apartment with 3 people while he sat in a big house with four bedrooms and a two car garage. We now live in a pretty clean duplex and things have improved since my mom is getting paid now. I still worry about my sister going to college though.

@feministsAreCorrupt that's not the case, he knows he's the father, I didn't sleep around when I was with him. He said it himself that he would rather party then take care of his son, so I told him, if that's the case then he isn't to come around when my son is older, because my son doesn't need a dead beat dad.

Did your father have a high level of certainty that the children were his? Was he bankrupted in Family Court for lawyer, psychologist, child monitor fees? Was he able to pay $600 /month? If he didn't have to pay rent for his own place and instead lived with his children, he would have been able to contribute more.
Are you sure you have the real story? Fathers are often forced out by family court and the mother.

I have never had my name on any bank accounts but we litterally couldnt afford groceries on some paychecks... I recently left him becuase he refused to go to counseling for our issues. Trust me when I tell you, he owes his two daughters 2 and 3 every cent the court orders him to pay, what I want has nothing to do with it. Blaming someone for having certain genitals is stupid, so is generalizing

Yeah.. I don't understand why alot of people think they are being trapped by having to pay child support. Because what you pay is not nearly enough to really take care of a child. You probably won't even get as much as your dad was ordered to pay. It's not like FUN money. It's completely necessary if you're not going to be in your child's life.
