FYI , if your using a heat sink fan , (which most are) Thermal paste isn't needed , of course for the enthusiasts who care about every little detail there going to use it reguardless but its definitely not needed and if you've never put it on before I highly recommend not doing it...
@creedstruth obvious troll is obvious, anyways, thermal paste is indeed REQUIRED to transfer heat from the surface of the CPU to the heatsink where it is dissipated into the surround air by the fan blowing on the fins of the heatsink
i know this video was terribad but that doesn't mean you can spout out random shit and expect to get away with it, quit trying to get noobs to kill the pc...
@mouse25000 Funny noob ive never had thermal paste in my posession cause i think its for fools like you , and yet this machine is on its 8th year... So blow it out your ass... Thanks and have a great day...
@mouse25000 Im running a HAF932 with a 240mm fan ontop , Front , Side , and a 140mm in rear... Run incredibly low temps... Havent checked it in over a year.. Stock Heatsinks all have Thermal paste pre-applied fyi and all retail non oem cpus have heatsinks....
@creedstruth i am confused by your last sentence, so just because if a heatsink doesnt come with it pre applied that means you dont need to use any at all?
@mouse25000 Yes. Most new retail heatsinks do come with it pre-applied. I personally think that thermal paste bought works better but it's good to have it around regardless.
Everyone one of you, need to grow up. This is a Training TUTORIAL of how to put on a FAN.

If you are just moving everything to a new case, just make sure it is compatible with the new case. Other than that, everything should be okay. Hard to say if everything will be okay without looking at it first.
Not sure what exactly you are asking. I am assuming you mean swapping the CPU heat sink with your new one? You first have to make sure it is compatible with your CPU and if it is, make sure to clean off any used thermal paste and then apply a new layer.
This video is Fail Sauce! I'm going to build my own computer next week and this video is just really bad for showing people how to install a Intel CPU.
People, please do not listen to this idiot on how to install a CPU fan. You have to install the fan by pushing in one corner and doing the other corner across it. Not pushing in both pins on one side and then the other. Jesus this video does more harm by giving out the wrong information.
this doesnt even mention that not all processors have the same catch(part that latches to the MB) it would be a LOT better if she mentioned all the details and maybe do a little research before she goes onto the internet and reads a script...
Does she know what she's doing? With the push pin HSF its a better idea to do to OPPOSITE CORNERS AT THE SAME TIME. Then do the same thing for the other two. When you do it the way she demonstrated, you have one side of the HSF clamped to the board and the other side is tilted up, mkaing it harder to push the last 2 in.
It is not that easy. You don't show the most tricky part with the heat sink installation. If you do it this way, you are likely to end up with a broken mobo or a partially installed heat sink.
I know right but good atx mother boards, the ones that come with multiple PCI and PCI epress slots cost a shit load of money. Not to mention the cpu that comes with it. Micro atx motherboards are ok but not for SLI.
umm: 1, you alway s do one side, and the one adjacent to it, not right next to it, and you ESPECIALLY don't want to elevate the mobo with anything besides foam.

You might also crack the board.
Idiot. You don't know the first thing about even pressure. You need to start in one corner, then the opposite corner or else you won't be able to snap the other pins in. Don't let her handle any more computer hardware.

First apply a mountain of thermal paste. Second apply the shitty heatsink until you hear the mobo crack. That means the heatsink is in place. lol

This bitch is an idiot.
You do any of the 4 first (if it is a snap on not screw on), then the diagonal opposite, then repeat. Otherwise you risk snapping your mobo.

Idiot. You don't know the first thing about even pressure. You need to start in one corner, then the opposite corner or else you won't be able to snap the other pins in. Don't let her handle any more computer hardware.
