  • this was amazing...and i go to lafayette high.

  • I really enjoyed teaching the drumline that year. They were all smart players.

  • I cant wait to do this, Band will be amazing! I am really looking forward to Fhs.

    Lyuke

  • it is a higgginbotham show. its called celestial bodies

  • so, where can i find it???

  • Is this show custom made. I cannot find it anywhere on the web.

  • @aceofspades65

    yeah

  • the 3rd movement is practically just one big tenor solo :)

and they did the snare pyramid before RX

  • one of the best shows ive seen, even if it is a copy of Blue Devils B 06 at some parts. absolutely amazing drumline. wish i could get my hands on that book.

  • 2nd year at FHS, love the school and love the band... we kick ass xD

  • this show was absolutly amazing. we did wizard of oz.

    South Terrebonne High School

  • I realize I'm 3 months out on this, but i'd love to play a show with this much msucial emotion in it over the "dark" theme we had this year. This was simply a fun show to play, without musical interruptions from other sources.

  • good job nice show- LHS

  • lfieett placed grand champ last year

  • This year's performance.. was AMAZING.. THE absolute most enjoyable show this year.. i rathered watch them than Laf. high!

  • I'm sure this years FHS band appreciates that comment. I myself also prefer a more fast-paced, energetic, and exhilarating performance from a marching band.

  • personally I liked your Warp show better than the Vampire one.

  • So much better than this year's. Fontainebleau's show was really entertaining, but that's pretty much it. Nothing was very memorable musicwise. I also don't appreciate scatter drill.

But I do admit I was very jealous of their battery percussion. Snares were really clean, especially for seven. I'm from Ellender, and we got the only III at Showcase, in percussion. It hurt, but that's what happens when half of drumline (I'm not included in that half) doesn't practice.

  • @KirKir21 Thank you very much! I was the snare captain last year. And drum captain this year.

  • Well you did a FANTASTIC job with the line :)

  • May I ask what lead to the line's great success?

It can't just be discipline and hard work, because if it is, I'm killing my lazyass drumline.

Let me be in Fontainebleau's band!! I'll just go to Ellender but be in y'alls band XD

  • Can't beleive my school came in forth overall this year. We were like 20th last year. Lost to Fontainebleau by like 2 points. Honestly, I thought Fontainebleau's show last year was better than this year.

  • Can you post their showcase from 2009

  • 8:34

    "BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!"

  • i go to fontainebleau!

    well i did last year..

and i went to this competition.

    it was amazing!

    we were sooo good.

    but it was totally rigged.

  • They are wonderfull i met there dru m major on satuday he was very nice

  • how are they doing this year? Are they as hot as this show was?

  • @BananagunStudios we got third place, showcase was yesterday. But our show was really edgy and i was sort of disappointed i was hoping for second again, because we all know it is almost impossible to beat lafayette.

  • @z4ch51r3r4 thanks, we went from 13th to 2nd, we worked our asses of this year

  • @bluetigerdawg87 sorry, I have posted all that I have. This year I had no chance of filming anyone's.

  • @bluetigerdawg87 im looking for this years perforamance, but I can't find one yet... I wish I could have watched it live, but I could only hear it from the endzone area.

  • i love the drill and how it worked with the show!

  • damn i loved marching this show.

  • this looked like a fun show to march! lol just curious is your show like this, this year? oh and this is a band member from comeaux

  • no its not like this at all.

  • oh really? well im sure what ever it is, it'll everyone away. you guys seem to have pertty cool shows, cant wait see what you guys are doing this year

  • Lets see these guys compete against a drum and bugle corp like The Cadets....and see what the outcome is ;)

  • a high school vs an international drum corps? i think not my friend, not only do we not have the choice of the best of the best, but we don't practice near as much as they do, i simply said our style was similar

  • Im so excited this is wat we are playing for our show this year!!!

  • Oh and i applaud LHS on their fantastic success at BOA

  • Comment removed

  • haha. i marched in showcase.... the bass spin was amazing.... and the peoples reactions were funnier

  • patrick, what's up with the weird frame-like black around the video?

  • Im from Dutchtown High School I was at showcase you guys where awsome you should ahve gotten first place though over laffyette and their homo flower dance routine crap. half the colorguard was guys. X< eww. you guys rocked i was right in front keep up your good work and hope to you the best of luck

  • homeboy, there only one guy in that colorguard haha

  • from about 2:48 is that bassoon? if it is a bassoon it sounds unlike any at our school haha. im from comeaux. our show sucked. i play bassoon too.

  • it is a basson played by ryan rome and the contrabass clarinet played by namni sorry i dont know how to spell his name :(

  • It's a duet, ryan rome and nnamdi udeh

  • Thing that I love is that the drill writer came from Southeastern Louisiana University and rocks!!! Only because im partial to him. Craig rocks!

  • wwoww!! what an amazing year with the band.

i was a little disappionted when i heard we placed 2nd but lafayette is also an amazing band. cant wait till next showcase!!

  • I love this show, i cant wait to see what is in store for us next year!! it will be bigger and better!!!

    with peace and love jojo

    (guard girl)

  • the dude on the 4 big drum things gets down with it bruh.

  • yea man. i loved our drumline this year, they were doing nonstop crazy moves. its like two different shows. i personally like the snare pyramid at 4:40 the best.

  • yeah the end was pretty cool too. you didnt by chance play yhe trumpet?

  • yeah he's the trumpet section leader

  • you know then notes to the end part?

  • yes, because i played it haha. but half the fun is figuring it out for yourself.

  • s th end part for the trumpet open open first open one and two open?

  • no, close. try figuring out what key its in first, that should help.

  • lol. how am i suposed to know lol

  • listen to it haha. those are the notes for the end of the second movement. the notes for the very end are in a different key.

  • does the trumpet section leader have a myspace?

  • yes. i am him.

  • oh. haa why dont you jus tell me the notes. lol i'm a freshman not some professional trumpet man

  • well good. if you start learning to listen and figure parts out for yourself now, you will be awesome in the future. im not doing this to be mean, im doing it to try and help. figure out the first note, its a blues scale from there.

  • haha thanks mann

  • haha. i am SO going to make a trip to LA to see you guys' show next year. :P

  • Amazing-ness here!!!!! Lafayette is so dang boing! How on earth did they win?!

  • hmmm i think making 3rd at boa atlanta and winning the music caption andd making 12th in the nation at boa grand nats this doesnt make us boring.remember fontainebleu only made 14th at a boa regional.theyre gonna be really good in the future

  • don't like the tone of your comment. Do you have to knock FHS by saying they came out 14th at a BOA regioal? FHS members have nothing but respect for the LHS band and were very proud of LHS for doing so well at Grand Nationals.

  • Exscuse me but, was your show not at the end of louisiana marching season for those competitions? we received 14th at the very beginning just as our show was completed. please don't knock bands based on rankings in competitions you did not enter either. there are things called bad and good days. so a fair competition should be 4 or 5 different show on different days at different times to really gert a feel of a show. who knows? the judges might have missed a mistake or eleven in both our shows.

  • i remember one judge thinking there was a clarinet solo in the third movement at our performance at BOA. there's one mistake right there.

  • yall are freakin amazing i dont know how yall lost to lafayette in the state competition

  • ok so im on the guard at FHS and yes, i admit we weren't at the top of our game. we had a better show the night before at the game, but its just the luck of the draw... also, or show was very very difficult and ambitious. we had 3 different weapons each with a different weight. and we just weren't ready for it. and there are some girls who aren't as strong as the others. but come next year, we will be ready. and yes we deserved 2nd, and congrats LHS on getting 1st.

  • thats when consitency comes in handy, you guys were good and i can't wait to see yalls production next year? any idea what it is?

  • if I told you, I'd have to kill you. :D

  • gotta admit, that was great when we saw it and LMEA

i play trombone for Holy Cross

  • i love the ending, i remember how surprised we were when ya'll came back and i totally forgot bout the spinning bass drums. OMG

  • ya'll we're absolutely awe-inspiring!!!! i play baritone for Thiibodaux High.

  • BEST EVER>>

    HAUGHTON SCREAMED FOR YOU

  • yall are awsome i mean wow that is incredible i ssaw yall at yenni stadium yall are amazingly awesome

  • wow my thoughts are long. anyway. what i meant was, we're glad we could push a band as good as yours, well i am at least.

  • and second is just fine for a freshman like me. that just gives me more incentive to come back stronger. and to settle this FHS should have gotten first... no we shouldn't have. sorry but i am from FHS. i saw LHS's performance and im proud to say that louisiana has that to offer as their best band. very clean and overall good. we might've had a more crowd pleasing performance, but we didn't have it clean enough to deserve first. But we're glad we made you sweat a little LHS.

  • Thank you for the kind words. I really hope the hurricanes stay away from everyone next year so we can all do our best at Showcase. I expecially want this for the sake of the Erath kids. I loved watching this show. Very innovative.

I am glad that you recognized the reason why LHS won. BTW, did you notice that we recieved 12th place at the Frand Nationals with this show.

  • you guys did amazing! i only wish i could have seen it in person.

and yall did have us worried!! i remember our instructors telling us about how great you guys did.

    keep up the great work!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah our DL was a bit drty. but give them a break. our best tenor player plays piano mainly (I believe so if im wrong sorry ben), and their stuff was fairly hard to do. not only that but we could have and should have been much more clean drillwise. I ran into our only bass trombone player in the second movement. when i never did before. well more like he ran into me. i was moving backwards and he hit me from the side. anyway. it wasn't our best performance, but was really fun to perform.

  • loved it

  • Morgan City roared when they came back for more! Fantastic job!

  • I would like to say that it takes alot of hard work to have a great band performance, both 1st and 2nd place bands deserves a lot of credit for their hard work and dedication. If everyone would take notice their were no judges from Louisiana, that should say something about the outcome.

  • this show was amazing. Like holy crap. And an encore?

    Ridiculously awesome

  • 9:12 haha

  • ok so i HAVE to know where yall got those spinny bass drums from...

  • i just watched this at their game against St. Pauls! INCREDIBLE!

  • they made them! i know.. cool

  • Please note - no one from FHS has made any negative comments about Showcase or LHS here or at any time. Negative comments about judging are coming from outside sources, not FHS members. We have a lot of respect for the LHS band. If it weren't for the LHS directors helping us after Katrina, we would not be were we are today. We will always be thankful for that. Anyone who speaks in a negative tone does NOT speak for the FHS band. We were thrilled to finish higher than we had ever before.

  • Since I came to LA after Katrina, I am curious about what the directors did for ya'll. It is nice to see how people in this area help one another after the disasters that have hit our coast.

  • WOW! That was amazing! Starting at 2:54, what instrument is that??

Also you have alot of Guard members but they are awesome.

    Wonderful performance. Well done.

  • its a bassoon and contrabass clarinet duo, the bassoon is the first too play.

  • Congratulations guys.

This was a truly impressive show; theme, drill, and music.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but some of you honestly need to give this whole Lafayette thing a break.

True, they win first every year, but you cannot let that take away from their performance.

The show they put out that night was amazing.

And while Fontainebleau's was more exciting and entertaining, Lafayette deserved first in all respects.

But know that you guys put up a fine fight.

  • First & foremost, you guys really DID deserve Grand Champs...OMG! My brother goes to Delcambre High & he told me about this show. I had goosebumps the entire time. You're only issue is guard timing. I go to Northwestern St. & I'm in the band but honestly, ya'll drill in this show blows US out of the water! Congrats on Reserve Champs & ya'll should try a move called the Diamond Cutter =) We did it in our last show..look it up Spirit of Northwestern 2008 Latin Show

  • they won reserve grand champion thats still really good why is every so much into winning im in LHS band and you never hear any of us say things like "i hope we win". we go there and do our best at something we all love to do, all the bands there were awesome this year including fontainebleau (sorry if i spelld that wrong lol)

  • Not true.

  • Don't know where this was a response to or what it was in reference to. Just ignore it because I am not a flamer as most people who have visited my videos know.

  • great job guys, i go to lhs and i really enjoyed watching your show. The dl was a tab bit dirty but thats nothing you guys can't fix. congrats and i guess we'll see ya next year.

  • A very good show, but definitely not a 1st place show. Your aux. and drumline were both pretty dirty. Actually St Amant should have won 2nd behind Lafayette. Keep practicing, ya'll are almost that good.

  • When you watch this video, pay attention to the 2 judges by the tent, toward the end of the show you can see both of them go back into the tent thinking the show was over! One of them came back out to watch the end.

  • amazing.....i was ther from central lafourche......yall blew me away.....i watched the show with my mouth wide open........i couldn't get over how amazing it was

  • I am from North Vemilion and I have to say I loooove your show! Ya'll took a risk but it really worked. All you have to do now is clean up your guard just a bit and ya'll could deff. beat lafayette high...cuz lets face it lefayette highs color guard is almost unbeatable. But good job guys you really worked hardn and it payed off

  • our band is pretty good but no one looks at just the visuals and the props. there auxilary and how clean the drum line is. the marching, making sure theres no foot phasing adn striaght lines and the sound. theres more than just the visuals and props

  • i was there and i was so amazed by this performance it was great! yall should have definately won!

  • i was there that day, and this was my favorite show to watch. everyone from our band here in haughton talks about yalls band as if you won the whole thing (not so much talk of lafayette this time). we were actually very close to playing the same show as you, but i'm so glad we changed our minds cuz we would've got smoked. so whats all this i hear about spinning bass drums?

  • haha thanks for the compliments. look at 3:55 (the beginning of the third movement), and again at the ending reprise and you'll see the bass drums.

  • lafayette focuses on their superb guard a lot and the band can make neat drill without moving a lot, whereas fontainebleau is almost constantly moving to keep the crown entertained, and from what i am reading, we did our job.

  • i would just personally like to thank everyone for their nice comments. i would just like to point out that us and lafayette have completely different marching styles; lafayette goes for the more musically sound "bands of america-esque" performances, while fontainebleau goes for the more drill-influenced crowd pleasers.

  • ya'll got screwed........showcase is political....ya'll deserved grand champs

carry yourselves like grand champions anyway and rub it in lafayette's face. they have someone to look up to (as far as entertaining the crowd)

    congratulations

    :D

  • well i go to lafayette high and fhs looks pretty good ,to tell you the truth our school was pretty nervous about this band we actually thought we would not come out first...i have to give it to yall..this show looks cool.Good Job!

  • well, thank you.

and even though this competion might be political, in the words of a comment somewhere on this page, congrats on being the twelfth best in the nation.

and if you weren't paying attention, our timpani player broke a mallet in the third movement.

  • omg i hate how they chose lafyette over fhs but i guess they sort of have hometown advantage and have won 7 years

  • Comment removed

  • The crowd really loved them. You can watch the people in the lower stands (from different schools, obviously) cannot remain seated after the second ending. The whole stadium reacted like that - and our kids saw it from the field... how gratifying!

  • ok seriously, yall shouldve won showcase
