  • Wat dose EWS mean

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - English, Welsh and Scottish railway

  • I live in Newport, South Wales, so where can I get one of these locos because the Heljan website says "the search for 'EWS Class 58' returned 0 results". Please help! They look so good but I can't find one!!!

  • @istich123 - Try all over the Internet, so Hattons, Amazon, eBay, Trident Trains, Rails of Sheffield, Olivia's Trains and anywhere else you can find.

  • hey ive had it open like you said in the previous video and cleaned it and fitted a brand new chip but it sometimes stalls on points and i am usng insulfrog and electrofrog and even with fully electric frog points it stalls any reason why tahh and how can i improve its pickups without adding pickups to a wagon behind it

  • @pyronathanpyro - are you sure it's the loco and not the points or track surface? You need to check each part of the electricity supply really. So check the track is clean, check the points are conducting, check the wheels on the loco are clean, check there's no fluff or hair clustered around the pick-ups on the loco itself, and if after doing all that she still keeps failing there might be a problem with the loco. To check, get another loco and see how that performs. Then get back to me :)

  • @InterCity82 as soon as i recieved this ryte a miniute ago im in the loft and it has had a full strip down and clean no dirt anywhere the track is perfectly clean and my class 31 sound runs on a crawl throught the points with sound on but the 58 wont i will have a look at the brass pickups i think they arent touching all wheels because when i nuged it to the left it made contact and started of so i thenk they need bending out a lil tahh ill get back to you but thanks for the help matey

  • Hi Will. I love this loco so how much did it cost and where from?

  • @SuperJimjoe - it was £50 I think and from Hattons of Liverpool. Am sure of it. One of the earliest locos I got. I have a beautiful video of her sat awaiting upload too :)

  • hi will do you know anywhere where i can get some good cheap model trains near to dorset

  • @123garryharry - no idea. Not my part of the country - sorry.

  • Hi will,

do you know anywere to get a class 67 EWS DCC loco??

    i cant find one anywere!

  • @eanat11 - just messaged you :)

  • @InterCity82 ok

  • The best packaging by far is Realtrack's, although it is expensive, it is worth it. By the way, Realtrack only make one product, Freightliner FLA Flatbeds with or without contains. But they are bringing more out in late summer 2011. I heard they are bringing out a Class 142 Pacer!

  • @SuperJimjoe Its actually a 143/4 pacer they are going to bring out.

  • Excellent loco!

  • oh my god

  • I have recently got a model of 58001 by Heljan and it is a fantastic model. I have also done a review video on it if you wanted to have a look at the beast. I am getting the Coal Sector version next.

  • could you post a video of your other 58 please

  • it would look beutifull in RFD subsector coal livery or mainline or rfd redstripe the possibilatys never end

  • oh and in my model shop were i work we were looking at it and those little plastes are where the hand rail goes on the door to replace them with the full plate if wanted thx

  • @pyronathanpyro - thanks for letting me know!

  • @InterCity82 np lol my ews one is after the transition aswell lol

  • allw yeah im getting the heljan 58 in ews liver for my bday 6th december how does it run and whats it like thx

  • @pyronathanpyro - it's beautiful - you will love her

  • hi i realy

  • what is a dcc chip and if you can, can you make a video showing us the dcc chip and how to put it on to a loco?

  • @captaincoolpants11 - a DCC chip converts control of the locomotive/train to digital control. I have done a video on it - but more are on their way! :)

  • i bought a heljan 58 just by viewing this video and being convinced this was product worth buying and the price i certainly recomend to any one buying one this being one of my favourite diesels with the coal sector being my favourite liverie which is appropirate being this what they were designed for hauling MGR trains

  • @panther590 - it's my favourite diesel too :)

  • yes heljan are heavy but sturdy and very well at performing i love them ive only had on but oh it was great i prefer bachmann and heljan no vitrains no lima and some hornby

  • you should get a class 66,59 or deltic

  • @randomkid21000 - who says I haven't? ;)

  • The Class 58 is one of my fav diesel Locomotives. I might look to get one in the future (e.g in October due to my Bday). Good Video by the way and all the other featuring this loco. :)

  • @ipodwindow - thank you for the feedback! Oh yeah, the class 58 is easily one of my favourite locos ever!

  • very good model im very tempted to buy a heljan class 58 now

  • @Radomboy1234 - you won't regret it :)

  • i would like that train it looks really good for my collection.

  • @MegaTrainfreak - they're one of my faves

  • have you got a class 66?

  • @somerandomalex - yes, but keep it quiet for now :)

  • @InterCity82 lol y?

  • n1 gd vid i want a 58 now

  • @cazy1395 - lol :) they are nice

  • love ur vids stopped liking trains when i was 6 but seeing ur vids made me like them again

  • @fivebottlesofwhisky - thanks! :) yeah they're a great hobby to get back into

  • wow I love this model, and I just looked on hattons, its only £50!

  • @JcnoProductions - yup! these class 58s can be found at really good prices if you look around.

  • I've had an idea! instead of the stupid old plastic hornby/bachmann couplings, I will remove those and drill a hole in the bufferbeam, each end will be fitted with a hook, I will hang a chain on that, use a wire to couple and uncouple trains, and I will do this because Hornby couplings twist up, caus derailments, bump over points, etc, I hope other people will follow this example :D

  • @crazyracer12 - sure! go ahead and do a video on it too :)

  • @InterCity82 well, it will take a while to get the parts, so it won't be up for a long time, but I tested it on my Bachmann models and it works a treat :D

  • btw when u move the track to another room can u plz keep doing the vids of reviewing where u r in this vid bc u can see it easier and stuff

  • @helloimearl1 - yes, that's a good idea actually - I may keep a simple loop set up in here to do loco reviews and run them in.

  • how did u get that from heljan can u tell me how 2 get 1

  • @hornbyfan1 - it was ordered from Hattons

  • yes i have seen a heljan class 58 and it is great my hornby one is terrible it runs badly it has rubbish grills on the sides and it is so bad it has been replaced by the heljan one and is currantly sitting in my scrapline awaiting a desision on its future because the moter went wrong and had to be removed mind you it was a very early one

  • @MrJezza31 - yup, the Heljan 58s are definitely better than the Hornby ones from years ago. More detail, more accurate and better motors. But it was a Hornby class 58 back in 1986 that got me started on the hobby - so I owe everything to that single loco really. Without it, I quite possibly wouldn't have any of this. :)

  • nice train :)

  • @loghead19 - it sure is! :) really smooth too

  • wat dus EWS stand for

  • @MATANUIalive2009 - English, Welsh and Scottish railway

  • @InterCity82 thanks

  • Heljan 58s are great, but the handrails next to the cab doors *are* oversized which is a shame. Still, they can always be replaced...

  • are they? I wouldn't know. Thankfully it doesn't detract from the overall quality of the model too much. :)

  • They are not made to the correct scale, unfortunately. Just by looking at this video I can tell the handrails are not quite fine enough. You're right though, this minor detail doesn't detract from the overall quality of the model, which it has to be said is fantastic!

  • In Hornby or Lima locos there bogies hang down when you holding them up ( eg. your 47 Isle of Iona), It's a sing od cheapness

  • oh yes there's definitely a range in the quality of the locos :) - but sometimes you have no choice. If you want a specific loco (such as the Isle of Iona) then you have to buy what's been made.

  • bachmann all the way

  • nah, I think you gotta pick the best out of them all. I've just got a Bachmann class 40 and it doesn't even have working lights - nevermind come with loads of detail already added straightout of the box. But then again, my Bachmann class G2A is incredible quality, just like my Hornby HST :)

  • 5* vid

  • cheers :) she is a fab loco - really strong too

  • BRILLIANT :p, I AM HOPING TO BUY THE COTSWORLD RAIL CLASS 47, from hejan rather than the bachman one because of cheapere price and higher detail

  • @cornettoman6 - yeah, seriously you won't be dissapointed - the Heljan models are good too.

  • @InterCity82 ok, great :P, i cant wait until i get the money now haha

  • Excellent choice of loco, in my opinion heljan make superbly detailed locos, i have two 58's a 47 and six 33's, and like you say the box is far superior to any other maker today, ooh and also i have 2 of the container terminals, still yet to play with them and i've had them for 2 years

  • Thank you! :) Considering she was/is my first ever loco from Heljan, I think I made a good choice! She really is beautiful!
