  • >dirty synthesizer

    k

  • I've got an app that does that... and more... for free. 'Push-a-button, make-a-sound'. : |

  • i liked the end korg pad, the beginning metalic pad i find it kinda useless.....

  • does it have midi?

  • wonderful

  • lol mein hintern ist geil

  • ey bin selber aus Frankfurt

  • Said the person who I'll bet my bottom dollar's name isn't Jascha Heifitz.

  • im winning the auction for this, does it come with a cable to a computer?

  • Ok, well I have something to ask and something for one of you nice people to answer. Can I put my own synth I make on this? ; I use ableton and massive as my vst I was wondering if I could make a synth like deadmau5 and make the sound play on here and creat music? Please reply!!!

  • oh no ! im fallin' in love with bliptronic 5000 <3

  • Thats Great

  • or just use FL studio and save yourself money and time

  • The first time I saw this unit, I wondered about running its output through a Korg Monotron's filter and LFO, and using the setup to recreate "On The Run" ("Dark Side Of The Moon"). I suppose it depends on whether you can change the key it plays in, the range of the notes, and so on.

  • @digitalramyun search Korg Monotribe. Someone used it to do "on the run" and it sounds pretty spot on. I can't wait to pick up the Monotribe

  • Monome Rip Off Fail !

  • How are the buttons?

  • minuet of forest? 0:47

  • Lol it only plays in C? Toy, not an instrument

  • @bernhj

    Harmonica

  • hey i have an idea, let's make a device whose only selling point is the fact that it looks like a monome. shouldn't we actually make it a decent piece of equipment? nah, no need.

  • 1. step to become a daft punk?

  • just a toy

  • The best solution to have an hardware interface for drum patterns editing (it took 15 minutes to write a Bliptronic to Drums plugin in SE).

  • I'd buy one of these if it had more notes (customizable scales, press a button once=low octave, twice = middle, 3x = high). 1 octave range = :(

  • @FuzzyRat13 I could give you paper that Santa uses to fill his nice list:

    1. Not programmable in any way, you're stuck with a sequencer.

    2. Doesn't connect to a computer.

    3. Built in sounds, with a cheap speaker.

    4. The frame it uses is plastic compared to the hand-crafted walnut (2011, they release different frames each year)

    5. Monome can run applications from visual eye candy to looping and sampling like a DJ.

Not a hater, I love ThinkGeek. But I would prefer a Monome or a Launchpad.

  • @AgustinNoesEverythin 6. It's USD 39.99

  • @ThyCupRunnethOver Versus 399.99.

  • @AgustinNoesEverythin That was my point...

  • @ThyCupRunnethOver I know, just the fact that adding a 0 (9, technically) to the price makes a difference.

    I guess FuzzyRat13 doesn't get it...

  • I think the bliptronic is a great instrument for indie / pop or even folk crowd.

    Its cute and functionial.

But for dance or techno idk.

  • this is a monome

  • @ejbot its a wannabe monome... it has no USB to control anything.

  • He's using Sound Canvas samples i guess.

  • there's an app for that.

  • THIS THING WAS USED TO MAKE ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST OBSCURE SONGS OF ALL TIME GO FIND IT!

  • @themadscientest The golden filter!! :)

  • @kadookadoo nope, think brooklyn... and xfinity commercial, but that song isnt the one.

  • By far, the best Christmas Present I've ever gotten.

  • Comment removed

  • oooh i want one!! ;P

  • it seems to be missing the best beats and the best notes

  • Does it only have 8 notes to play?

  • That Korg Kaoss Pad looks amazing

  • @CJXCORE lol I'm more interested in that than the synth

  • @CJXCORE Really? I'd say that's the best damn looking tenori-on I've ever seen!

  • Boxes are getting obsolete, check out Reason software by Propellerhead before you buy this

  • Is that a big Kaossilator!?

  • @BTuhTuhTizzle It's the KP3. Not the kaossilator Pro.

  • pretty stupid.

  • How much?! :)

  • How much does it cost ??

  • OMG I LOVE THAT SONG

    1:21

SOLID GOLD BY THE GOLDEN FILTER

    GREAT ALBUM

  • Comment removed

  • need one of those

  • I dont know why,..but mine doesnt keeps the bpm..do you think mine is defective? I mean, without other equipment, it "sounds" on beat...but along other equipment it always trails behind :(

  • fake ass monome

  • i wonder why this is so cheap?

  • @Blu3hell omg hilarious.

  • i love their store

  • You just helped Kaoss Pad sales XD

  • in all honesty, i just want one of these things to screw around with :)

  • Oh nice! Will keep an eye out for one of them, looks fun

  • When I get this I'm going to try to play dragonforce-Through the fire and flames and make video about it!

  • God I so need this. ;-;

  • Kaossilator playing the background from The Golden Filter - "Solid Gold"

Credit where credit is due boys.

  • this is better and free

    visual-things flash-sound-matrix

  • @aoxilus you mean tonematrix, and i would rather have the bliptronic though

  • kaoss pad 3 WWOOWW very very good man i love the kaoss pad 3 but to much money =/

  • This thing is so awesome, if i could get my hands on like 100 of these i would make a symphony

  • kp3 saved the video ... almost (THUMBS UP)

  • that is just complete shit

    sounds like a childrens toy

  • Absolute shite. and t $50, i HOPE no one buys that!

  • i remember a website that a sort of virtual version of this but i can't remember wat iot was called. any ideas?

  • go to the myspace for little boots... its on there

  • @lordarachnius ToneMatrix, a simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 16step sequencer inspired by the Yamaha TENORI-ON. lab andre-michelle com /tonematrix

  • howmutch are these things i think you can get something just as good called the u create

  • whats this called?

  • I've been making electronic music [in a non musical? idiom] for almost 20 years , Bought a couple of these . . best fun i've had in years running them through my electribe . . .especially when i play around with there tempos . . . a lovely layered psychotropic mess . ..

  • Helloo,

    Nice bit of creativity !!

I like playing with LO-FI stuff, I've got plenty of hi tech gismo's, but somehow making a track with what other people consider as outdated and useless toys is most satisfying !! I have a friend who used to be a sound engineer for Pink Floyd, and he's the same... get him at a bootfair buying a plinky plonky toy thing, then he's straight home recording it into his awesome studio !!

  • @widespoon

    Helloo,

I know the bliptronic doesn't have midi, but does it have tap tempo or just a knob to adjust it up or down?

    Cheers

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to link Conway's Game of Life to one of these?

  • You could do it on a Monome, but you'd have to seriously hack the bliptronic to do it.

Even though this LOOKS more like a Monome, it's much closer to a simple Tenori-On clone. (See my new video!)

  • I plan on getting one of these soon to start producing electronic music. I no nothing about using those kinds of machines yet so im getting the cheapest

  • wow ..looks like a monome without any of the usefulness and an inbuilt synth

  • I love electronic music but this really proves that nobody needs to know how to play an instrument anymore. The true talent of playing something is really lost.

  • What do you mean by that? It's not like we don't have any musicians anymore. This is just another instrument like any other. Simplified versions of what DJs use, I believe.

  • @Chrismonchan Well, it's not like any other instrument. I mean it's an easier way to make music and sound but you don't have to do anything. Need a drum? Push a button. Keyboard? Guitar? Push a button. You don't even need to know how to keep the beat. It does it already. And let's face it most DJs just take other people's music and mix them together. I'm not bad mouthing it. Just saying a person doesn't need alot of talent anymore.

  • mmmm, I wouldn't say creating music doesn't require talent anymore. I'd rather look at this optimistically and say technologies like this one presented make music creations more "accessible" to people. I, for one, think it's great that more people can enjoy listening and creating music. Also, I wouldn't say that DJ work is easy. If you've seen a real DJ good work his table, it looks like another instrument of its own, let alone able to utilize a sample to its fullest.

  • @outsider497 A lot of people think makeing music with synths and computer is easy, that's because that people have never been in touch with synts. Mixing music doesn't need talent, but create your own sounds, make them enter in harmony, equalizing, mastering... thats another story. Let's say that synths and computers music are for those who don't have time to practice but have a lot of talent.

  • You can't produce the sound of many instruments with electronic instruments. The violin for example. That's still reserved for people who have studied it hard.

  • yea but we will get you eventually ...your days are numbered musician

  • I'm do electronica anyway, so it doesn't bother me either way.

  • I* :)

  • As someone who's been writing electronic and sample based tracks for over a decade, I have to say that you can't really quantify the skills needed for that kind of music in terms of more traditional instruments. it's a different kind of mentality.

and for the record, proper use of a turntable, scratching, juggling, is at a difficulty level on par with the violin.

  • Agreed... it's a new and different form of music to be played and understood in new ways. Born in the 20th century in the spirit of, and to be fully realized in the 21st.

I've got to write that down. ;-)

  • @ddaynyc So you can't use piano skills to play electronic music? You can't just grab sheet music and come up with chord progressions?

  • @ddaynyc check out Brandt Brauer Frick theyre doing some pretty interesting stuff based on a classical mentality

  • @ddaynyc

    thumbs up

    *snigger

  • @ddaynyc

    thumbs up

    *snigger

  • This is not a synth. It's a sampler with a simple step sequencer. And most of the samples that I hear in this video are pretty horrible.

Really, they should use the Denkitribe video to sell this thing, because after watching this video, it looks like quite a piece of crap.

  • I correct myself, according to the website, it uses FM synthesis.

8 different sounds to choose from, one octave, 8 step loop, 60-180 BPM in 20 BPM increments. Limiting, but limitations make things interesting. This thing needs some heavy processing to be useful though.

Then again, if you have a DS, you can get Korg DS-10 for less money and get a drum machine plus two classic synth emulators that actually sound pretty damn cool.

  • ....with a much better sequencer, too.

  • Does it play anything other than a major scale?

  • Sadly, no.

  • wow that's awesome!!

  • What a great instrument! Can this sync to midi clock? (or is there a simple mod?)

For the money im still getting one but it would be nice to intergrate it into my setup without too much hassle.

  • <3 Kaoss pad 3 , but considering i only just bought my EMX-1 the KP3 is a bit out of my price range. So <3 the Mini KP XD. I could see someone on stage having their whole set up. Then doing a funny little tune on this in the middle of the song, then breaking out into HTek again XD.

  • 1st tune, I was thinking of big comfy couch

  • Wow, this looks really awesome. And $50? Cheap as hell in terms of musical toys! ... I'm gonna buy this.

  • and at the end it's the korg that is doing the really cool stuff :/

  • what was that thing at the end? i want one of those...

  • It's a Korg Kaoss Pad (KP3). Really nice unit, really expensive. :P

  • kaos pad

  • Kaoss Pad

  • This is just a toy..good x-mas present for kids tho...

Actually this would be good during toilet visits!

  • I wonder how long this will hold up, it looks and sounds really cheap

  • @kyleismrsmiley

Great point in itself, but for someone able to make music and who also owns something like a cheap little Korg Mini-KP Kaoss Pad in addition, a few of these Blips will do wonders.

Check user Denkitribe for a fantastic example of Steve Reich-like minimal music done excluseively on the Blip.

  • cont.

    The Denkitribe vid is at

    watch?v=NBRQoTon0aI

Denkitribe is very good at extracting a lot of music out of those cheap machines - that is if you're into repetitive music types like minimal and dance stuff.

  • Ah okay, I have a not so cheap KP3 and this looks like it is fit for it, I'm just wondering how long the buttons and led hold up. Before I buy, since the same sounds can come from a PC/MAC or even a phone. Still something cool to get on my list.

  • Wait a sec...can you only play, like, eight notes on that thing? No scale customization? No octave selector!?

    Pretty cool toy, I guess...

    Pretty EXPENSIVE toy...

  • @alxxmaxx

Again: good point, but allow me to point also you to user Denkitribe's vid at

    watch?v=NBRQoTon0aI

Personally, I'm used to buying gear that almost always costs $5000 a piece, but I must say the last weeks I've really had loads of fun with tiny boxes of which the most expensive one was less than $300.

Mind you, a dry Blip is nothing. You do need an effects box like the Mini-KP for it to sound reasonably well. But then it shines. Two of them shine more.

  • all well and good but wtf - $39 shipping to the UK? since when was that in any way sensible? sod that...

  • Thats just curiously looks fun to play with.

  • you can pretty much the same thing on your ipod/iphone for free.

  • dang, i liked the last bit, i bet you guys have awesome rave parties at least once a month

  • @Blu3hell Hmmmmm! Interesting idea...

  • @thinkgeek OMG THINKGEEK!

  • I swear I heard some Animal Crossing sounds on that thing.

  • i'd rather just use the tenorion...

  • what is the point of comparing a $1000 product with a $50 one? Oh right, there isn't one.

  • and what's the point of waisting 50$?

    I'd rather whistle a tune...

  • well if this thing doesn't interest someone at all then the super costly one won't

  • tenori on still beats this thing everyday of the week

  • not in price

  • what is the point of comparing a $1000 product with a $50 one? Oh right, there isn't one.

  • whats the other synthesizer at the end of the vid?

  • korg kp3, $300

  • rofl :))

  • should have put MIDI out at least

  • plz tel me wer can i get a bliptronic 5000 from

  • google

  • FAIL. No USB control, just terrible Roland Sound Canvas instruments which I've had enough of hearing. Put USB on it and I'll buy, otherwise no dice.

  • this video just makes me want the korg thing instead, and i sure as hell wouldnt buy 4

  • Is this a troll post? Of course anyone would prefer the Korg Kaoss Pad over this.

As stated before, the Korg device is $400. That's quite a bit more pricey than this machine here.

  • You can buy the kaosspad for $300 on buy...

  • WAAAAANT.

    :D

  • Could be useful if you're just getting into music, but I already have Propellerhead Reason which has pattern sequencers that can do better than this.

  • mmm i just wet myself@!!

  • i would buy this if this sounded like a 303

  • WANT

  • @KIDTRACKz Agreed

  • GOTTA HAVE MORE COWBELL!!!

  • NEEDS MORES DISTORTIONS!!!

  • this thing is a pretty dope little toy for the price..

the only thing that could make it better is if it could be used as a USB midi controller.. the perfect mini-monome!

  • Thats what i was thinking

  • This is far to simple, the part at the end that makes it sound cool is basically a simple beat put passing through a Korg Kaoss Pad.

For the people who are saying "oh well I will get one of those too!"..

    The KP3 is $399.99 USD.

You can do better synth with Adobe Soundbooth CS4.

At least that is only $199.99 and free to try.

  • that would get addicting quickly.

  • I want 10

  • I WANT THIS

  • LOL funky.

  • want it!!!

  • It starts every next bar right? if people would hack this, it could be great as a step-sequencer synced with max4live.

Imagine the line-out going through a gakken-sx, you could have a step sequencer-synthesizer combo for under 150 $. Wouldn't that be awesome?

  • thats the whole point of the thing : to hack it ;-) allready with the link-in you can do alot. 50 dollars is nothing !

  • wow.

  • I MUST HaVE!

  • GIFF MEH!!!!

  • Google for "Tone Matrix" and go to the "aM laboratory".

It's the same as bliptronic, only online :)

  • SEND ONE TO ME! for free!!! I'll give it a good home! hahaha

  • GIMMY!

  • psh. yeah. just get a kaoss pad. I want a kp so bad. :3

  • NERD

  • That's the point :D

  • Badass. Enough said.

  • Think Geek makes me proud to be a geek.
