@sheddski, I don't think anybody that runs at the bsoa races has a Bezoats. They are not the best either they ride to flat and don't handle very well from my experience
Somebody needs to bitch-slap "carlosmurphy4u" Geeze, a guy puts together a pretty nice video and you just gotta bash it? You're really a knob~rocker for those comments... And Mr Murphy? How many movies have you put together?
Jeff likely spent "hours" putting this video together... I hope we dont have to see "CarlosMurphy4u" at any of our races :)
@carlosmurphy4u If the weather holds this weekend and I make it up there, I might get some HD720 footage in. (I still can't say it'll be the best, because it's a DSLR with video rather than dedicated video cam.) Otherwise it won't be until October for another shot at it. They only seem to have powerboat racing on Lake Andrea on two weekends out of the entire year. Small lake which is great for relatively close viewing. Events there are unique because no powerboats allowed on that lake otherwise.
@jeff55v Thanks. I got a little bit of the action on Saturday. (xKM5pltSP6U) I'm going to try again on Monday. It sounds like the weather is supposed to be better too. What I shot so far makes me wish I had a better tripod for doing video. (It works great for still shots, and fixed shots for time-lapse, but it's not the smoothest thing for panning.)
I wonder if I should try any interviewing in the pits? Only thing is, I'm not familiar with the sport and my camera only shoots 5-min at a time.
NICE VID!! btw, were there a couple of wooden F hydros with 1100cc engines on trailers?? And with stacks, not the long exhaust??
My dad used to race with APBA in the sixties, ran 1100 F hydro and runabout too... Miss the racing!! Last race I went to was at Constantine, MI in 2006... No 1100's... TNX for posting!
I remember as a kid, watching the big F hydros and runabouts. They were AWESOME!
The boats you refer to in my video all belong to Dick Austin. For the past couple years he has brought them to our race for display. Dick also drives one for demonstration in between our racing sessions. Our clubs are very honored to have Dick and his boats at our event.

good run on sunday in IA...... good to have met you see you in sept with 4 hydros. son of D. A.

are any of those hydros originals or are they all newer? just rebuilt a 50's hydro with a mark 55 and a quickie lower unit on it

Most of the older boats in the video were on static display. The oldies are cool, but they are not competitive with the newer boats.
The Mark 55 motor is still a legal "D" class motor within the APBA.

sweet video!! I love that Mark 20H with the quickie lower unit
