  • Mmmm Im weary of Lancair after a 15 year helicopter test pilot veteran died after crashing because of a failed engine at 400 feet after take off at my home airport (Brand new Lancair Evo Turbo)

  • looks like you cant be a big guy to fly in a lancair does it?

  • Small world, I have the same plan, and as of a few months ago, my bro in law now has exactly the same camera. We're planning a trip along the Hudson to get some footage of NYC. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

  • @coma13794 Cool, it will help if he has a wide angle lens. I photographed this with the Canon 16-35mm F2.8L at 16mm. Send me a link when you get some video on-line.

  • That is what being a pilot is all about. Sometimes you get so caught up with the instruments, radios and flying the airplane, that you forget to just sit back and look out the window.

  • appears as though alot of people are more intrested in the camera than the plane.

    great plane...

    and quality

  • Incredible visibilty through that canopy

  • Amazing! The cockpit of this aircraft is just awesome! Great videoquality as well!

  • Very nice quality video, and appears to be such a pristine Lancair! Great job!

  • does the canopy has UV block?

it would be a torture to sit under the sun for extended period of time.

  • very very nice aircraft.

  • the image quality is amazing, and I don't have HD capabilities on my computer.

A quality lens makes all the difference, it seems.

  • It's the camera and lens, read below!

  • Sooo frickin' cool. Who needs the airlines, airports, and TSA when you have one of these?

  • If you really feel that way, I suggest you support your local small airport.

  • 1920x1080 ? this is 1080p no ?

  • Yes, it was recorded in full 1080P (1920 x 1080 progressive). But, I believe YouTube converts it to 720P. So the actual footage is better than you're seeing here (even when HD is selected). Plus the actual footage looks awesome on a 50 inch plasma.

  • @richbradbury Rich, how did the camera pan to the front of the plane looking back at both fliers?

  • Amazing quality. How big resolution can record with this camera ?

  • ^ Jealous. Looks very cool guys. Love the DSLR video making waves (I have a d90).

What were the operational costs for this trip?

  • is that carpet your hauling in the back?

  • clouds like cream !! good vidéo

  • Awesome Video. Inspires me to keep building my lancair.

What video camera were you using? The quality is outstanding!.

  • It's shot with a Canon SLR still camera, not a regular video camera. Canon released the Canon 5D Mark II around December of 2008. It's the only SLR to shoot full 1080P video onto a full 35mm image sensor. This allows me to use my professional Canon L series lenses. The shot of the Lancair was done with the 16-35mm F2.8 L II from Canon at 16mm. No HD video camera on the market today can compete because their image sensors are tiny in comparison. The "Red" camera is an exception at $30,000.

  • I admit, I am soo jealous. Keep the videos coming..

  • wow.this is best quality video on youtube

  • in any case, this inspired me to pull the trigger and buy one. It's comin' on Monday!

  • N...I...C....E

  • hello, this one is an FG or RG?

  • really nice work on the full HD! I've always been curious, will a 6'0 220lb guy fit into a Lancair 360?
