Nice fish. This is a pretty typical sized Chinook for Barkley Sound. Nobody would even pay attention to it on the dock at Bamfield. You have to get over 40 pounds before anybody would get excited.

It's a nice fish, but pretty common on the West Coast of Vancouver Island - well, here in Tahsis anyway.

I got one that was 28 pounds a couple of days ago, and I expect many more to come in the next 6 to 8 weeks.

A bit of advice: Don't be in too much of a hurry to net the fish, make sure he is tired out and take him head first, then close the bag by turning the handle so that the hoop of the net is verticle.

no its not, Ive been salmon fishing for 10 years and a 35lb salmon is big, a 45 is huge, and 50-70lb is once or twice in a lifetime, a 25lb is average. I do know
