Wow as a child living in Marlborough MA, this was my favorite place to go Benson's animal Farm then turned to New England's Play world in the late eighties....where my sister thought she was being attacked by goats..hah aha......#classic
I think the last half of this video is not Bensons. It would be rather odd to me for there to be a Boston PCC Trolley in the background. Also, I am not aware of there being any parking new the kids rides which were on the far side of the pond. This definitely starts off as Bensons with the Shoe, Totem Pole, train and cars. But, after that, pretty sure it's somewhere else , probably in the Boston area. Notice in the second half of the video the little blonde girl's outfit changes from black
@ernieshomemovies Any idea where this is? I would love to know. I imagine whatever amusement park or Carnival that was is no longer held/open. Very cool pictures, especially the MTA trolley in the background.
GREAT video thanks for sharing. we use to go there on field trips with the school in the late 60s early 70 and when i was dating my wife in 1982 was the last time i was there when it was open . now that it is reopened to the public i was there yesterday {8-6-2010} walking around with my wife we had a blast walking down Memory lane
And now Benson's is open again since closing Labor Day weekend 1987... it is now called " Benson Park " and it's for all to enjoy free of charge as a passive recreational park located at 27 Kimball Hill Rd. Hudson NH 03051
I was born in 1963 and visited Benson's when I was a child. I remember telling my uncle kenneth (now deceased) that the monkey's spit at us. He thought that was cute that I told him that. When they open the park again they should request photos of people who were at the original Benson's.
I love the home movie of bensons thanx for sharing with us all here's a vid ya might like of the place get's a lot of shots of the animals too it's even got a shot of a young colossius
WOW!!! thanks so much for a trip down memory lane. i was there in the mid sixties as a child and could only remember e few things but now i do rember e few more. thanks so much
Hudson just purchased the land from the State of NH and will be working to make the former Benson's into a passive recreation park...no more animals (unless they arrive themselves!) but possible history museum in one historic bldg, picnic, skating, walking trails...loads of public interest...check Town Of Hudson NH website for news and updates
Great historica video footage. Thank you for converting it to digal format for the world to be able to acccess. There are so many people from Hudson NH and who visited Bensons that now live all around the country and world now that only had memories of the park until now.
Thankfully these did not get lost, thanks for posting this.
.
I was 8 in 1963 and it's good to see old movies.
.
These days everyting is crystal-clear with sound but I like this better.
