  • I subscribed to you because you have great videos and these will help me a lot! i just found them! so do i start at the first video and keep moving up?

  • @TH3xFaNt4sY Glad they are helping :) Yeah, just keep working your way up!

    Practice!

    Todd

  • Is it me, or isnt there some kinda pull'off being done at the 12th fret right after the strike at the same fret?

  • @stormshadow2k Well yes :) I'm striking and pulling off at 12.

    Practice!

    Todd

  • Yay! Am arpeggio!

  • @megaluisdeth Yup ;) Enjoy!

  • i use my middle finger for tapping =P.. works great, especially when you plan on doing sweeps with tapping mixed in.. oh and here's a tip.. i notice people that are new to finger tapping bend their tapping finger too much.. don't do that, it slows you down.. keep the tapping finger extended out while tapping!! \m/ ^_^ \m/

  • @m3tallih0lic Well said ;) Keeping a firm tapping finger is very important. Too much bend can compromise the precision of the pressure and kill your consistency in terms of the strike on the string.

    Practice!

    Todd

  • I love that you keep sayin practice over and over, people need to know, the whoop-ass guitar faiery is not gonna come sprinkle you with super awsome, it takes diligent work, you rock Todd!

  • Thanks :) Well said BTW! It really does take wads of practive. The "guitar fairy" isn't gonna help.

    Todd

  • @VictorRattle Well said ;) There really is no magic secret, just lots of dedicated practice. :) Thanks for watching man! More vids up soon!.

    Todd

  • that was awsome men 5/5 thanks it helps me a lot! your rock men!

  • Thanks for watching and rating :) Much more on the way!

    Todd

  • i'm a begginer and i was wondering are there any good exercises to improve my speed with tapping?

  • Yes. I'd say practice this lesson slowly and then speed up!

    Practice!

    Todd

  • just fine some 3-note patterns on the e-string and start there. Advance to patterns that include more strings as you get better. It comes quicker than you think! :)

  • hey todd whenever i try 2 hand tapping on 1 string, my other strings buzz. is there a way to stop this?

  • Yes. You need to learn to mute with your hand while tapping. It just takes, you guessed it, PRACTICE!

    Todd

  • Practice!

  • well said!

    Todd

  • excuse me mmmmm cn i call u master ,mmm

is that true if u start in the age of 21 years old to play this king of scale, you will not gain a good playing method i mean you will not improve thanksssss

  • Thanks for watching :) I didn't start playing seriously until I was 16, I've known players who started as old as 30 and got really good in a few years. You are never too old to learn guitar. It just takes practice :)

    Todd

  • todd, i cant get tone and sound out of my 4,5 and 6 strings. the high E, B and G sound good but im looking fopr the reb beach, greg howe sound. i have plenty of gain and distortion, better amp or pickups might I need?

  • Its possible. Try it at a guitar store with various setups. If you get the same result, then its probably your technique. If it sounds better at the music store, it's time to put some new gear on lay away :)

    Practice!

    Todd

  • hey great vid i just started two handed hammering my self and i need to get my fingers stronger is there a less expensive option then buying a bass i was thinking of picking up bass but i need a new guitar (the pick ups and internals are going down hill) have u ever tried those things that rock climbers use? or do u have any other secret ways of growing finger strength?

  • Thanks for watching and great question! There is one true way to develop finger strength on the guitar. Practice! :) Try to spend as much time "in the woodshed" as possible. Don't injure yourself, but make sure to run your scales and hand workouts every day.

    Practice

    Todd

  • soloing concepts todd how i can use this techs and uses in the songs changing with the chords

  • Try playing along with the song in the correct key. Trust your ear :) It just takes practice.

    Practice!

    Todd

  • dude, i need your help! how come when i tap the strings..i can't barely hear them! how come when you tap em, they sound really loud?

    help me!

  • Sounds like you need two things.

1.)More gain. Get a distortion pedal. Go to a music store and try a few out.

    2.)More practice. Tap harder! :)

    Todd

  • now can that work with and acoustic guitar?

  • Anything is possible ;) But this is primarily an electric technique.

    Practice!

    Todd

  • This is excellent stuff Todd. I've been playing for 7 years but I can still find lessons that benefit me. I'll be checking out the site after dinner! Thanks for the vids.

  • Many thanks for watching :) I hope to share a nice meal with you someday and share some techniques after a fine meal. :)

    Todd

  • Thanks Todd! straight forward to the point!!! you should do a Podcast! it'd have a lot of success!

  • I have a podcast ;) search for me on iTunes :)

    Todd

  • Thats awesome but when ever i tap with my right hand no sound comes out =[

  • Tap a bit harder with your right hand. Don't focus on your left hand so much. Also, practice :)

    Todd

  • i praticed this on my acoustic with size 13 strings, and then when i go to electric (with 10's) it's so easy and fast! =). using the acoustic is a good way to build strength.

  • Well said! :) Accoustic playing is a good way to build hand strength. Also, Playing Bass Guitar is a good way as well. I recently bought a 6 sring bass to work on my my own hand power.

    Todd

  • Finally some speed techniques which are just straight forward finger movements which allows you to concentrate on speed. well done Todd

  • Thanks for watching :) Check out my web site for all the lessons.

  • Good stuff! Couldn't teach it better myself!

  • Thanks :) There are some lessons on my web site that are not on here. Check it out as well.

  • I'm glad :) Be sure to go to the web site also to see my other lessons.

  • thanx

  • No problem :) More to come. Check out my web site where the missing lessons are.

  • do i have to have my volume on my amp a certain level to do this?

  • You just need the right effects pedal. Go to my site and you can get the one I use to get that tone.

  • do i have to have my amp loud to do this?

  • Nope. You just have to have enough distortion. Go to my web site listed on my main channel page on youtube, just click on my name, go to the gear section and get that effecs pedal. That will do it :)

  • hey thanks toddsquadxyz for showing the lessons for free even though the are worth paying for

    they help me a lot

  • Sure :) I've got a few sweep picking lessons in the works!

  • your pinky almost looked like rubber. nice tutorial.

  • Thanks the freaky rubber pinky technique :) If you move your fingers fast enough they start to look a bit odd.

  • Also well said!

  • k hold on i dont understand strikes or pull offs help me out heear??

  • No problem. Strike just means hitting the string, pull off means pulling your finger off of the string :)

  • have u heard of tap harmonics? I dont know wtf they are, but i wana learn them.

  • a tap harmonic is when u tap the actual like metal fret...12 frets above the note your holding

and u tap the metal fret really quick so that its like a harmonic

    =P

  • Well said! :)

  • tap the fret 7 frets above, 10 frets above, or 12. try it out.

  • thank you

  • No problem :) More to come! Also, I'm going to give away all the lessons that I was going to charge for on DVD #2. They will be available on my www(dot)revver(dot)com account.

  • Dude great thing your doin for all the ppl who wanna play.and im also a guitar teacher but it's just a side job and i always tell my students to practice, belive me practice is like really important.

  • You are SO right. Adequate practice is the difference between good playing and great playing :) Always nice to meet a fellow instructor :)

  • I had an instructor finish every lesson with that. It stayed with me. He taught me Classical guitar. The importance of practice can't be overstated :)

  • Your lessons are wonderful, thanks again. :)

  • Thanks for watching :) I'm glad they are helping. More to come very soon :)

  • Thanks to you for taking the time to watch!

  • oh and also I was wondering if you could post an original song, or maybe some other song that has a blend of regular note combined with harmonics of whatever type. I just love hearing a riff bust out and then bounce through harmonics or pinch harmonics and then back to the rythm... just a thought. Ciao, AE

  • I've got some songs like that. I was working with a band called Gnostic for a while and the solos are very much in that space. you can go to gnosticmusic dot com and click on music. I played on the SPLINTERS OF CHANGE demo. Enjoy!

  • kool thanks, went there and listened to it. Yeah thats what I was talking about. Harmonics can sound so evil sometimes hehe... Ciao

  • I actually taught myself that technique by myself within 3 months of picking up a guitar but your other videos are very helpful

  • Im glad they are helping :) you can see all the lessons on my site

    toddsimpsonguitar dot com. Enjoy!

  • I'll be sure to check it out, thanks.

  • Hey youre great, hope u got some inspirational song for us beginners to push harder

  • Sure :) It depends on what you like, just find a song that you are really in to and then get the tablature online and play along with it. If you like heavy stuff, old Metallica is a good place to start (Eg. Ride The Lightning). They use a lot of techniques in each song. I'm going to be doing more in depth lesssons on my full length instructional DVD which will be availabe around Xmas called TEKNIKS WITH TODD VOL2. It will be available on my website, toddsimpsonguitar dot com

  • thanx! i have been playing 4 a long time now. i didnt know how to do that before

  • Glad it helped ;) The key is simple practice. Try to do your stretches and run your scales for about an hour a day and your playing ability will increase dramatically :)
