I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless you know what you are doing. You can't get away with brain damaging someone by saying "I saw it on youtube". In fact, I'd say this video is pretty irresponsible.
and can someone please explain to me how this stuff is useful for everyday life? if someone grabs you on the street and you choke them, youre going to jail. Lets all learn how to choke another person lol...how safe and humanly
@bazarro44 No, you are most likely NOT going to jail, but the one who attacked you would if you press charges. I have been in Law Enforcement for 20 years, on the street for 10 of those years. Carotid chokes are very quick and very safe. If police respond to an assault and the victim choked the suspect out, they would probably get a high five. However, carotid chokes are something that you have to learn and practice, that is why they are so commonly practiced in judo.
@okcdtjudo what if another submission hold is used, like armbar or kimura and after verbally being told to stop the assailant continues to struggle and ends up breaking his arm or shoulder??
If you apply pressure to the carotid arteries, you're not chocking the opponente. You are strangling. A choke stops air from getting to the lungs (like someone eating food or drinking and choking). Strangling is to stop oxygenated blood to get to the brain. Otherwise, it is perfect since people pressure the wrong place when they could put one to sleep in seconds... No oce can resist a strangle.
Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could agree on that wording and that specific convention, especially outside the style of judo? Best of luck with that.
I can't decide... I know it's dangerous, but should I get choked out? I really want to!! I really need an opinion soon....
