  • Who's the Bass Player?

  • this is great

  • @poolpoolification It is very excellent! The geographical elements they offer lyrically, make for a great visual adventure.. the images of the southwest, the arroyo etc. make it cooly graphic! To accomplish this in a song puts this performance at the top of it's craft!!

  • Some years back, I saw Peter Rowan at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival. During the other performances, he was walking up the sidewalk, between the seats with Bryn Davies (in a silk gown) beside him. The masses simply Parted. That dude has charisma!

  • Tony looks downright professorial! Elegant picking, as always. Great tune!

  • This music shows evidence that old-"er" guys rule!!

  • Oh my!!!..........Just listenin to the music,an watching two of the sweetest girls, I think I have ever seen playin instruments.......reallt added to my viewing experience.......who is this girl on the stand up Bass???.........she really got it goin on........just loved this.......excellent excellent excellent :)

  • @TheWAYLONTRIBUTE I have to agree 110%... truly entertaining!

  • I was expecting Mike Marshall who played with Pete at String Summit just before this show. Instead, all i got was...Sharon Gilchrist. I remember thinking at the time, "Wow." And I was right. I miss this lineup and wish that they would put it together again. Anyone else?

  • Would have preferred this group with a good banjo player.

  • Anyone know the chords to this. I can't make them out on this video.

  • I love the way Bryn smiles at 20 seconds. I'm also glad that they moved the entire festival inside after 8 " of rain Friday morning: it made for some great video. Mahalo.

  • There once was a railway through my hometown, til they took it up cause drunks kept getting hit by trains,,God Bless Hitchins,KY,,Great Video,,Fachizzle

  • wow!...this was a HOT band in more ways than one! 8¬)

  • the old santa fe runs through my town in san diego county--it is one damn long train, maybe the longest. god bless california!!!!

  • An elegant group. The music is exquisite. Frankly, I would pay Sharon and Bryn whatever it takes to put that group back together. Unique in its appeal, well beyond bluegrass alone.

  • thanks for posting...some of the best rowan rice stuff i've seen on here besides the stuff from bluegrass journey and music farmers...saw them at the IBMAs and in Chicago at the Old Town School of Folk Music...incredible...walked right by bryn and sharon on the way to the restroom and didn't even realize it I was in such a hurry...I just thought they looked familiar as they said hi on the way by and it didn't click until I was back in my seat...wish I could do that one over...

  • Hi, Phriendly,

Don't feel too bad; one of my dear girlfriends went to see Peter and his Trio as part of Jam Grass; she was outside the venue and said she passed an older man & half-smiled at him and he half-smiled back out by the food courts. She said, I got inside and realized it was Peter when he hit the stage to perform--I coulda cut off my head with the nearest butter knife! Poor baby!

  • thanks for posting this...I've seen these guys several times...great

  • This video(and many others) were filmed by Less Than Face Productions. Check out the Midnight Moonlight from this set. LTF also has released compilations from several east coast festivals.

  • Thank you for posting the Old Santa Fe. This video: Peter Rowan with Tony Rice(Sharon Gilchrist and Bryn Davies) and many other videos were recorded at Suwannee Springfest 2005 by Less Than Face Productions. Enjoy them all.

  • this picture and music, that much soulfull!! take care of yourself and so many thanks! MERCI MERCI MERCI, P

  • Had seen this show in Boston. Great stuff!

  • How beautiful; we have some of this same set on the famous "Music Farmers" film that was made to document the festivals at Spirit of the Suwannee that Magnolia Music and Events put on. Were you filming per this? Your footage and sound is excellent!

  • I must admit that I did not tapr this show. I downloded this gem from a bittorrent site. More to come! Stay tuned.......
