It's hard to believe your statement above, His stuff is everywhere and he recorded a huge amount of recordings. Maybe you live on an island without a computer but check out all the recordings available on Amazon.
Oh, boy, we Rowles lovers are grateful for this recording.
How in the world did you get hold of such a private recording- I love the provenance of this - "recorded live at the fuersts new york apartment. . ." Upper East Side gentry perhaps? Great! Of course, there are fewer New Yorkers with this kind of sophisticated taste anymore.
@written12 I assume the location of this recording is the apartment of Ed Fuerst on 71st St. in NYC. If so, it's the same place where the famous Tal Farlow/Eddie Costa sessions of December 1956 were held. Those sessions were originally released on Xanadu and are now available on Definitive. Let's hope this session comes out on CD sometime!
This guy is BADAZZ. I cant believe he recorded as little as he did. His stuff is incredibly hard to find. Maybe its a testament to his art and loyal fan base.
Jimmy Rowles is as gentle and gifted as Nat. This is one of those Burke/Van Heusen masterpieces written for Bing but just as lovely in Jimmy's tempo. Rowles accompanied Billie Holiday where his piano is even more understated and beautiful.
wow beautiful and with such passion....
