  • Lou Rawls-smoothest!

  • They play the theme to "Star Wars" after "You Stepped out of a Dream."

  • Back in the day (when I was growing up) you had all this wonderful talent from the 40's and 50's in their middle age on TV. You saw brilliance like this all the time. The great Sarah Vaughn, Maynard Ferguson and Lou Rawls on the same stage - on the Mike Douglas show? Fantastic. Alas - talent like this - of this quality is no more.

  • Peter Erskine to be seen on drums at 1:17, so it's '77 or '78. Zawinul may already have been in touch for the Weather Report gig.

  • Peter Erskine at 3:02, so it's late '77 or early '78. Zawinul may already have been in touch....

  • Wow, LMAO in a good way. Who knew the late 70s MF Horn band could play such cool jazz with two classic greats, and host Mike Douglas to boot!

Jerry Lewis talking to Stan Mark at 1:43 ! Jerry Squeal at 2:26. He's handling the trumpet like he knows how to play, his fingering is suspect though.

  • Cool post, thanks for doing it.

  • GREAT

  • IS THAT JERRY LEWIS??

  • yes that's him playing next to the trumpet section. Sometime I never knew Jerry Lewis can play trumpet.
