His betrayl was disappointing, He didnt even do much, he just stabbed Aizen but in the end Aizen still got it, even though Gin did buy some time for Ichigo, Ichigo might as well have showed up when Aizen was about to make the key. Gin's betrayl didn't have much relevance, and why Rangiku? It could have been anyone woman in Bleach, Although Rangiku did stop Gin from killing Hinamori, thats about it, the very fact its rangiku has no relevance, I just wish they made Gin's BIG betrayl more important

Ichimaru is probably my favorite Shinigami becuz that man... he gave up everything for Rangiku. Turning himself evil, making everyone hate him, even if it means the very person whom he became a Shinigami and turned to Aizen's side for, hated him, but in the end... Rangiku didn't hate him, confuse and angry, but they really did love each other. Gin's and Rangiku's story is my favorite. I say, Ichimaru Gin, you're a freakin snake, but even Rangiku gave you a heart.

Gin did his best to remain out of the battle during the war, but think of it another way, if Hiyori had remained in battle, AIzen would have killed her to shake the other Vizards up, in a strange way, Gin saved her by giving her a semi-fatal wound and removing her from the fight.

In a way, Gin both tried to protect her, and make it look like he was carrying out AIzen's will. Also, you must respect that he has already decided everything means nothing to him as long as he can help protect Matsumoto.

SPOILER I felt sad for Gin by the end of the storyline, he's revealed to have some master plan to betray Aizen and gain the hougyoku, nearly does but then fails. But to make it worse, was to learn later on the real reason why he did that, he slightly reminds me of Itachi from Naruto, who took the hatred of the entire *ninja world* just for the sake of his brother, so he did everything for Matsumoto, basicly turning the entire shinigami world against him for her sake.

He didn't just lose his arm, his entire torso was near on sliced in half, he died in Matsumoto's arms, his last thoughts being that he entrusted the task he failed to finish to Ichigo, who had finally arrived on the battlescene to *put an end to everything*. As he put it, the reason he did everything in his life was to "Change everything so Matsumoto would never have to cry again" I interpreted it as he wanted to gain the ultimate power (the unlocked Hougyoku) to create peace for her.

In the chapter when she woke up, it was revealed she was alive, she then rushed to the battlefield to see Aizen facing off against Ichigo, with Gin slowly dying nearby, she stayed with him until he died in her arms, her crying as he did so. Then after the whole battle, she's seen remeniscinsing on how he left her nothing to remember him by, but then thought that it sounded like him, because doing so meant she wouldn't linger in her memories of him and would be able to move on now he died.

In my mind I believe she passed out with him still alive in her arms and when she came too he had left her there not leaving anything behind but apprecietted it because she wouldnt have been able to walk away, like she might try to follow after him.
