@dapoopta I'm using the touch screen for this particular test, though normally I use the focus ring. I've been using this camera for 6 months now, I would still recommend it.
Like he said, if you zoom in (longer focal length) it shortens the depth of field. You can also shorten the DoF by using a larger aperture (smaller numerically), but that lets more light in - so you have to balance that with a higher shutter speed or modify the amount of light in the shot. This is why pros like manual functions. Search for Depth of Field and read up!
@donaldhuckleberry i know what depth of field is, i tried it, mine just makes everything in focus, or out of focus. It's not like i just look at my camera, i'm working on it,, but i'll try it again,
to do it that you just turn around the lens ?

Simply, zooming in gives it shallower depth of field.
