Regardless of what you think of Khomeini, he did not start this war. Saddam Hussein did. He calculated that Khomeini's purge of the Iranian military after the revolution would have left Iran weak and so he attacked. Of course despite his early successes Iranian resolve to defend their homeland was greater than Saddams ego. Regardless of what you think of Khomeini, he did not start this war. Saddam Hussein did. He calculated that Khomeini's purge of the Iranian military after the revolution would have left Iran weak and so he attacked. Of course despite his early successes Iranian resolve to defend their homeland was greater than Saddams ego. Unfortunately the only real winner was the US and this was typified by Henry Kissinger when he said " Its a shame both sides can't lose".

@mrq33 no it was because when the revolution took place they started arming kurddish rebels again against iraq, when iraq made a deal with iran before that iranians will not arm the kurdish rebells, and iraq gave one side o shat al-arab to iranians for the deal, but after iran betrayed the deal, iraq wanted the other side of the shat al-arab back, iran refused, iraq justifiably attacked to regain it's land.

I should have watched this video on April 1st. Its a joke or what? Even the (that time) supporters of Saddam (e.g. US, USSR, UK, France, Germany, KSA, KWT, UAE, JRD...) confess that that morron attacked Iran first. Even the UN documents prove so. Iraq must pay anamount of 1T$ in compensation to Iran for that.
As i said, this is a great April Joke video.

Iraq-Iran war was a plot to weaken Iraq and Iran so they (foreign powers) can conquer them (Saddam was ordered by foreign forces to attack Iran).
They started with attacking Iraq saying it had weapons of mass destruction and now it is Iran turn.
We (arab and persians) should stand together , not hate each other.
