My friend just bought an eclipse just like this from a guy in kissimee, fl with the same swap. The motor was destroyed so he got an front clip of the same engine but the car cant go past 2nd gear or it just stalls. It idles great but runs really rough in 1st and 2nd. What did you do for wiring this car using the gsx harness?

considering they are both Mitsubishi, the differences must be minimal. I have a Chrysler variant of the 6g72 in my duster.. finding parts for that is a bitch!

it wasnt hard all i had i had to modify is the top mount because i didnt get the motor with mounts so if you gonna do it try get the engine with the mounts if you want to keep it front wheel drive the 97 to 2001 mirage 1.8 transmission should bolt up to the v6 6a12tt engine

yes youre right but i have the right motor and tranny for the rs its a 6a13tt automatic all wheel drive with entire wire harness plus it has a big front mount intercooler i have everything to do the swap except the rear dif to make it all wheel drive im selling it for 2,500, thanks man no hard feelings

actually "MR. DSM TUNER" many people have put evo motors in the 2g 420a model eclipses. they are still 4g63s but the face the same way as the 420a does. and way better than the eclipse version of the 4g63. you just have to remove the rear shaft hookup from the tranny. and the single cam 2.4l out of a spyder gs wouldn't bolt up because it's facing the opposite way, exactly as the 4g63 eclipse motor.

4g63 effortlessly fits in an eclipse. Its the moto that comes in the turbo'd version.

You could do a engine swap cheaper than turboing your 420. However the 420 will have better displacement at its 2.4 l.

depends on what type of turbo kit you put on and how much you plan on building the engine prior the turbo. a stock 420a cannot hold more than 7psi safely on the bottom end.

i used to have an old VR-4 galant and the handling was incredible, especially off-road around big sweeping corners when the rear wheel steering kicked in about 30mph.

I've been around DSMs for a very long time and have done crazy 4g63t swaps but this takes the cake,lol. That is awesome, is the rear diff of the DSM the same ratio as the v6 trans? what transmission you used? I just curious because I like different things and swaps,lol.

Running a MegaSquirt for ecu. the original mounts for that motor would have worked but it didn't come with the engine so I used engine mounts for the eclipse and modified the driver mount. Made it longer towards the engine. For transmission i used the transmission for the engine.
