  • Versija labai gera-jausmas atitinka dainos dvasia..

  • the word which could describe this incredible song and great performance does not exist.

  • @imationbedex I dissagree, i'd say the word to describe how great this song is, Direstraightstastic.

  • NOT A SINGER BUT GUITAR

  • First CD I ever got when I bought my new CD player many years ago. Must have played 'Brothers in Arms' 15 times before I even listened to the rest of the disc.

Knopfler makes a guitar sing, gloriously!

  • That man can SING on the guitar!

  • The best Brothers in Arms version!

  • @razor71 I think the Wembley version from 88' is the best personally. His guitar in that performance was just godlike. Loud as hell, and thats the way I like his guitar. Hate it when its lower then other instruments.

  • This song means nothing unless you can play it at full volume.

  • buy the album telegraph road and experience.

  • Check out my cover of "Mad World" ? Tried my best

  • umbeliaveble song

  • a friend of mine, 16 years old, one day decided to jump in front of the train that I used to take to get to school... I missed a day at school... and a eternity without his stupid and very contagious laughter... R.I.P.

  • @MrBarty79 Nice tribute, great thing about music is that it lets us feel the pain and thats not all bad. We all carry this weight bro. Ditto on the RIP your friend.

  • @MrBarty79

    16? way too young....good luck

  • merci granada superbe version quel sustain!!!

  • raw emotion in that song reminds me all solders that have died and that still frighting !

  • I just love Dire Straits, they have their own deffinate sound. I've listenend to so much music over the 50 years I've lived. With music, bands, artists, & writers, you can fall in love with anyone of them, that fits your heart at the time. Isn't that wonderful?

  • how do you press "No I like it" .. is impossible. .. This song is just wonderful...

    go get F CK D

  • MACHK FANTASTIK SO KOYT LOVE LOVE LOVE GES???

  • lovage :)

  • Please take me back to the time when life was good and the music was incredible. I close my eyes briefly and I am almost there.

  • @barefoot191 almsot? hell i am there. if only in spirit. in my mind at least. that is untili re-open my eyes. but at least i can temp./mentally visit a time in the past.

  • @barefoot191 I agree

  • hey this is great let's fight about a song about not fighting

  • If you don't like this ! like the 56 above , than something is very wrong with you....so go see a doctor....

  • @yveslaveyt Those 56 people actually realize that not everyone in the world have similar liking in music. So stop with these witty/cheesy comments because its not like they're going to do what you ask them to do. UMADBRO?

  • *cough* In my opinion Mark Knopfler is unique and nobody can even look similar to him.

  • @mrengftw Except Geoffrey Palmer!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • Mes souvenirs ont bloqué la porte, little Jane.

  • reminds me of my brother who died in Irak

  • A few have mentioned and I'd like to say it again....Rest In Peace Gary Moore...I was privileged to see Gary perform in the 80's several times. He was one of a kind.... As far as the song Brothers in Arms goes...one of my favorite DS songs...nothing sets a mood like this song...it's genius is in it's simplicity...I do like live versions, but for me, nothing beats the original album version.

  • Shakespeare Henry V - Agincourt speach. Plagerised for the Film Independance Day when the president stands on the mound to make his speach... and Band of Brothers. SUPERB SONG AND MUSIC We few, we happy few, we BAND of BROTHERS; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,

  • There's nothing else more to say my friends... just close your eyes and enjoy..

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡SUBLIME¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • this whole gig is on a par with alchemy live

  • more electricity shot through me than his guitar.:-))

  • Most of Pink Floyd song were written by Sid Barrett, Love Pink and Dire but don't see the similarities.

  • @oldfart4751 Syd wrote all songs on their first album. Had to leave the group long before the greatest albums, like Dark side of the moon and Wish you were here.

  • @oldfart4751 Syd did not write most of their songs. He went mad after the 1st record, so he wrote a small minority of FLoyd's tunes.

  • I saw them live in 85 awesome i was just 16 wish they were still playing today.

  • @WOTARMOUREDCORP I´m so jealous of you.I was just 2 then,besides they haven't come to Brazil ever.,

  • commovente !!! davvero una fantastica interpretazione.. very nice !!!

  • Knopfler Clapton May. Magnificent three musketeers

  • mark knopfler. the big wigs said he was not marketable. wow were they wrong

  • knopfler and gilmour will always be underrated and never get mentioned with beck and clapton, and pagey but should

  • @adultstorebob knopfler is, along with rory gallagher, the best guitarist ever

  • @knocknockatheavens

yeah i adore Rory Gallagher and is very underated. Dire Straits and Mk are my favs

  • Just seen the Mandela version. Makes me cry.

  • This is also a genuine live version (from Wembley concert 85). They just play the video of the Studeo version on the screen simultaneously during the performance, and imo this live version is performed very similar to its original version.

But I completely agree with you about Mandela 88 version. So heartbeakingly beautiful. Beyond words. On the Night version is my second favourite. Simply breathtaking.

  • Knopfler wrote and played some good songs, but this is one of those that is just up there with the best.

  • @throbasonic1982 ... have you seen his live performances/versions of this song? Mandela 88 is extremely moving and powerful and so are On the Night, Basel 92, etc.

  • guitar playing world class, song magnafeek!!

  • love this song..

  • so relaxing, i love this song!

  • @mar1kec I don't get how a song about war, death, and destruction, is relaxing -- especially with such an intense solo at the end... but to each his own!

  • @danakerman

I meant for melody, so relaxing. It's war song, so what?! I guess that we are living in a different worlds :)

  • This song will be played at my dad's funeral. And I intend to sing it, through the tears, with a live band on the day. Beautiful, beautiful song.

  • very sad song ... all answered by the John 3:16 statement from the bible - sadly many would rather reject it ! - I guess gods not got much else he can do if we wont listen

  • Master Piece

  • my idol.. this was played at my uncles funeral and will be played at mine

  • this song is gona be played on my funeral

  • knoppler wow such a master piece, sooohh beautifull!!

  • 55 morons

  • 55 People are not brothers in arms!

  • Was lucky enough to be at the Monaco concert of this tour, June 10th 1985 I think, played in the old football stadium. Always remember this track for the laser image of a bird that was projected onto the rock where the palace is. Still remember the feeling that we all had at that point...

  • самая душевная песня в мире

  • 55 retarded people after watching the best performance of one of the most emotive and beautiful songs of all time played by, objectively, one of the best musicians and guitarist ever, decided to press the dislike button , veeery clever

  • @sadkiedis agreed, but I think that the best performance for this song was at the concert that they made for the 70th anniversary of Mandela.

  • @LouieGee I was trying to make my comment more dramatic

  • @sadkiedis Lol, that was a good one. But don't waste your time, these retards won't understand that touch of drama, as they can't understand a masterpiece from Knopfler.

  • @LouieGee I agree and that's the version that will be played at my funeral.

  • i recently returned from iraq, im 19! i love what i do but what soldiers see..... no man or woman should ever see. this song is played every time were there. its awesome. EVERY SOLDIER IS A BROTHER IN THE BATTLEFIELD x

  • @jwilljam including the ones we are fighting.

  • @jwilljam what do you mean by you love what you do?

  • @MayChild8 i serve for my country! how else can i explain it?

  • @jwilljam what does your country lost if you don't go?

  • @MayChild8 a soldier obviously? stupid question :/

  • @jwilljam Dude, your gorvement lost a soldier, your country doesn't lost anything, you're still there man. A soldier doesn't have to go to war to serve his country.

  • @jwilljam Anyway, Do you have to go back?

  • @jwilljam RESPECT MAN!! AND YEAH ITS A GREAT SONG.. LOVED IT SINCE I WAS A KID IM 26 NOW..

  • @jwilljam american bullshit

  • @TheMrFuckstick pardon?

  • @jwilljam Ignore him, he's the kind that thinks Americans are the only ones that care about their soldiers, or that war is exclusively an American thing. Bless your soul, sir or madam. Hats off to you, and people like you.

  • @jwilljam Ignore him, he's the kind that thinks Americans are the only ones that care about their soldiers, or that war is exclusively an American thing. Bless your soul, sir or madam. Hats off to you, and people like you.

  • @TheMrFuckstick You do know Knopfler isn't American right?

  • Check out the Miami Vice Episode.......'Out where the buses don't run." This GREAT song is featured at the end of the programme.

  • I don'like him... I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • esse som é show.

  • 53 hitlers

  • i love this song so much cause its so true every word he say in it yes i understand

  • This song make me think that one day we'll die, and that's why have no sense to be angry, sad, hurt others people. and a long etc...

  • @MrIceman001 YEP

  • @MrIceman001 That's right!

  • That is one of a band what i want to see in alive! Sadly no Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd!BUT this band we have a chance! all yeahh!

  • Mark Knopfler,David Gilmour,Andrew Latimer are musicians that can make a guitar

    sing and cry with emotion..IMHO.

there may be more but these are the ones that come to my mind at this time.

    Peace.

  • don't forget Jimmy Page he is a beast to be reckoned with!

  • I have a Dean Evo (Les Paul-style guitar) that gets this great Les Paul tone. I swapped out the pickups for Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers, and now it seriously-sounds better than the new US-made Gibsons (and with better sustain). Mine has a flame-top, which I think looks better than the quilted top. Also, the Evo's set-neck design sustains extremely-well, and Dean used Honduras mahogany for the body (with a solid flame-maple-top). These are a steal for someone who can't afford a US-made Gibson.

  • @gangtwanger So how much is that Dean Evo les paul? Also, how much did that set of pickups cost together? I'll get it and be happy with it lol, Im drying for that orange guitar

  • I love when Knopfler plays his Les Paul Standard. That's such a sweet-sounding guitar (Saw him play that same one many times going back to the mid '80's). Nothing like the sound of an old piece of mahogany.

  • "how does dire straits remind u of pink floyd"

two words ... FEELING and PASSION

MK and DG both write songs that mean something! There's emotion in them

This song, Comfortably numb, On the turning away ...

    How are they NOT similar???

    Technically there's similarities as well.

sustain, delay, not overly distorted. Sure they're not the same, but they are similar in many ways.

I'd put Gary Moore, Clapton, SRV, Brian May and many others in there as well!!

  • @markonlinux

    on the turning away

    h t t p : // w w w.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb1gPWmfMHg

just a world that we all must share ...

    how is that NOT similar??????

  • @markonlinux Not to mention a greater emphasis on phrasing and composition rather than speed and technical mastery. I've ben playing for 2 years and can go faster than Gilmour or Knopfler, but could never write something like this.

  • @markonlinux

....Absolutely Brilliant Observation. I had not connected the two before, but Yes I agree. Both styles grasp hard on the throat while the meaning hits deep in the gut of one's emotions.

  • @markonlinux Check out Andrew Latimer of Camel, for example Ice.

He is at least top 5 on my list.

  • @markonlinux Mate, I've been think that exact same thing lately. I'm looking for other bands that were able to set such a powerful mood throughout their songs. Floyd and Dire Straits manged to create an atmosphere within their music and I'm hard pressed to find others of such calabre, it's something that's extremely difficult to do, especially for guitar based bands.

I'm also glad to see you agknowledged one of my favourite guitarist that we have recently lost, Gary Moore.

  • @markonlinux DG WRITES (????) songs?????? Plays a mean guitar to them - yes, but writes songs??? - music and lyrics is all RW, according to DG himself !!!!

  • 52 people apperently just had a stroke

  • I was just finishing up training at Fort Dix when this came out.

I played that tape till it fell apart. :)

  • venderia mi alma al diablo por poder haber vivido esto

  • MY BROTHERS IN ARMS ALL OVER THE WORLD LETS DOWN OUR ARMS AND UNITE AS ONE ...............HUMAN BEINGS . (PEACE)

  • MY BROTHERS IN ARMS ALL OVER THE WORLD LETS DOWN OUR ARMS AND UNITE AS ONE ...............HUMAN BEINGS .

  • Peace for the World! Rock On \m/

  • hendylad youre a cock

  • how does dire straits remind u of pink floyd alright the floyd are good but completly diffrent style u fuckin bum fiddler haha

  • @hendylad08 actually Daivd Gilmour and Mark Knopfler have very similar styles a lot of the time

  • Dire Straits will never die

  • Always it's complicate to say "one of the best musicians of al time"... but clearly he has an incredible feel of music, and a magic hands..

  • I feel like this is the end when i hear this song. I`v been in wars. and i always turn too thise song too get peace. UN/NATO BOSNIA. -95 -97

  • This should be a World Anthem for all workers. We fight rich men's wars

  • if i could put half the emotion he manages in his music, i'd be crying everytime i play...

  • @bozaki87 and so would we,peace

  • 500 peoples like this video

  • @a4amyli well it's 2 452 likes now....improvement lol

  • 49 people didn't like it because the quality of vid.

  • He makes that Les Paul sing!!!!!

  • Rombizio has it right in "stone"

  • 49 fail

  • @simocekat 50 fail

  • 49 people don't have souls.

  • In songs like "Calling Elvis", "Sultans of Swing", "Lady Writer", or "The Man's too Strong", Mark Knopfler shows his incredible technique and relaxed skill. However, this song is different. This song demonstrates his ability to portray strong, strong emotion, purely through his guitar. Beautiful Song.

  • @SlappaDeBassMon He puts feeling and emotion into every song! Listen to Tunnel of Love, close your eyes, if you don't imagine your at a fairground then your not feeling the emotion of the the song. The man's too strong is about a mercenary soldier, the melody lends itself to a very macho image. If your not getting it, then your better off listening to shite pop songs.

  • @oldfart4751 I did oversimplify, I apologise if it got to you. I know he puts emotion into all his songs, but I guess what i meant to say is that he sacrifices technical skill for pure emotion in this song, especially in the solo. Because i learnt this song on guitar, and it is actually not that hard, really, But at the same time, I could never play this song as well as Mark. He is just so connected to it.

And also, I will never go back to shite pop songs lol i gave up on them years ago.

  • this is such a deep song though all ages and races pls listen

  • @erinxxsexy

i did listen, again and again and again and again And still listening./... brilliant.x

  • @erinxxsexy i did listen again and again and im still listening.

    excellent piece of music././.

  • ok stare ale jare

  • @siwek75

  • THIS is musik for the World.

    I fall down and think....."What a Artist".....

  • Alfredo

  • There was a far better live version from about the same time, but the friggin video police pulled it. I love the way videos are pulled for copyright infringement but then the recording companies don't release them anywhere else, even for sale.

  • This is the stuff other legends like Clapton and Gilmour watch and go Oh My God, That Is Incredible. Don't take my word... ask them!
