  • Nutn please look at the Olight T20-T R5. 2.05 oz without batteries, 270 Lumens. All I wanna know is how good the throw is.

  • The corona "spill beam" is very wide.

  • i just cant agree with you on the whole weapon light thing man ive come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for and why would you trust your life on something that costs 50$ if you search you can get a surefire scout light for maybe 150 -200 bucks and i can say ive abused mine since ive had it but you do a thuro job keep em coming

  • @pinosguns because we have prooven time and time again that you dont have to pay tons to get good gear, surefire is way overpriced. you get 10x the preformance with Fenix, Olight and 4sevens jsut to name a few.

  • @MartinApayauq1997

    Utilizes a Premium (Q5) Cree 7090 XR-E LED with a life of 50,000 hours

    • Two modes (6 types) of output, generation/turbo selected by turning the bezel (patented)

    • General Mode: 12 lumens (65hrs) -> 53 lumens (13hrs) -> 120 lumens (4.8hrs) -> SOS

    • Turbo Mode: 215 lumens (1.8hrs) -> Strobe

  • You should check out the P3Ds successor, the PD30.

Has the same improvements like the PD20.

  • It's nice to see my favorite light (P3D Premium Q5) mounted to a rifle!

I have the stick to illuminate the whole room too, but in white, not orange.

  • can i really dive whit my fenix p3d? nice video btw :)

  • REI outlet has the OD version on sale $40 ;)

  • Hello Nutnfancy,i am a big big big fan of you i like what you doing on YouTube and keep it like this.I want you to help me w/ an advice i want to buy a Fenix Flash light and i dont know what to choose between P3D Q5 -215 lumens, PD30 R2 -235 lumens , TK10 -225 lumens. And what is the maximum distance-range lighting, which you can see something clearly with the flash light recomended by you? I apreciate if you have a little time to give me an advice.

    Thank you very,very much.

  • I have a Fenix P3D Q5 model. Excellent light. However, it uses a reverse-clickie tailcap. And due to that, it makes a poor choice as a weapon light.

  • Maxpeditions site - sale on all Fenix lights.

  • Cool chris, thanks! Nutn just lost one of his the other day and I'll tell him. -- Veri

  • The PD05 looks like something you guys would like....the best price I have seen for this new product.....$39.99 for a 100 Lumen 2 AAA penlight (Streamlight Stylus Pro in size - 4 x brighter at only 2x the price).

  • @chris24sj

My question, or concern, is why is Maxpedition running a closeout sale on Fenix... No more interest from Max in carrying flashlights, making room for new models coming out, etc. They are great lights so I can't see Fenix going anywhere anytime soon.

  • I use rubber orings to step up the diameter if the body to fit in the mount. It allow you to crank down the mount and I can shoot slugs and the light doesnt shift in the mount.

  • Any word on 4Sevens as weapon lights?

  • Could the PD30 tolerate the recoil of a 12gauge shotgun if it was used as a weapons light?

  • PD30 is a update of P3D so i think so but do a little more research but it is a FENIX so i think it will ...about to make the same buy for my 870 EXPRESS TACTICAL

  • I mounted a LD10 to my Rem 870 with a cheap ebay light clamp using small patches of silicone rubber to pad the clamp. Tested it in a night shoot and the system held up well. I imagine the PD30 would do at least as well.

  • I am thinking about buying this to mount on to my ar15, i dont like the looks of the light but the strobe has a advantage if i could set it to strobe everytime i hit a pressure switch is that a possible set up?

  • Hey Nutn, love your vids. Civilian Sheepdog sayin keep up the good work! How did you get the tac rail on your AR fore grip? Any specific rail you would suggest?

  • Im sold on fenix

  • What $50?!?! that's cheapr than crap airsoft gun lights, (not all are crap)

  • Outstanding review, and video. Very technical for those who want to know the truth. Thank you for posting.

  • I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your honest opinion. Because of the review I bought the Fenix P3D. It did come with Tenergy Proper 123A Lithium batteries. The cost to me was $54.95. This included the freight. I purchased the Fenix P3D from E Bay. It works great. I am glad I listened to you. Thank you!

  • send ur P3D back and get a Fenix PD30-R4

  • nutnfancy - at 22:30 you mention a small gripe about the Fenix P3D not having a memory function, A way around this is to leave the light in turbo mode and turn it off. Especially if used as a weapons light that is the mode, turbo - I would like the light to start in and if I need less I can adjust it. Most likely if mounted on something like an AR15 and you have a need to turn the light on you will want all of the available light that weapons light (P3D) has to offer. Start in turbo mode.

  • Is the diffuser tip for the P3D/PD30 compatible with LD20?

  • doubt it, the p3d is fatter due to its power source, cr123 batteries, the ld20 uses AA batteries there fore it's thinner.

  • Yeah but the ld20 body tube narrows down and is significantly slimmer than the head part, so maybe the head diameter is similar or the same?

  • i doubt that

  • holy man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 50.00 bucks for a max 212 lumens!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been waiting for a reasonable price!!! i have an energizer 90 lumen i got for 44.00 bucks... but i love fenix iam going online to buy one rigt now!!!

  • Great review would like to see one on the P30 though. It's a little bigger and has a few more lumens than the P3D.

  • Is Fenix a Chinese company? I know Led Lenser is German company. Surefire is American company.

  • Yes Fenix is a Chinese company, made in Hong Kong i believe

  • Just bought a PD30 last week... waiting for it to arrive now, can't wait! Thanks man, you got me into knives and now you've got me into lights and other gear too! Hehe.

  • So, did u recieve ur torch already?

  • Yup! It's pretty awesome - very bright and long runtimes too.

  • will the surefire M78 mount work with this light? its says .75 to .85 so im thinking yes.

  • just got a LD10. i would have bought a surefire without your insight. 'preciate it!

  • NutnFancy,

I sure enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work. Can you do a video on the Gerber Infinity Ultra. It is sure affordable.

It is a great back up light for camping.

  • would you trust the P3D on a tactical shotgun which will primarily shoot slugs and buckshot? I know you mentioned it was recoil resistant but would the tactical shotgun knock it senseless?

  • @hheadblade It will handle it, mine does

  • Good review, but my eyes hurt now from all the light!

  • it hurts looking at the center of the lightXD

  • It says P3D is discontinued so im wondering how it differs from the current PD30 model Same situation with the L2D, is currently LD20

  • Where did you see that the L2D is discontinued?

  • How long this light up?

  • I mean range.

  • Im stuck on a decision between the L2D and P3D.

I go camping quite frequently, and need the replacement for the gas light, both i think would do this.

I also do a fair amount of work on my car, some times at night too. For that i have one, well similar, of the small green ones that Nut commented on in the L2D review, he said eats through the batteries. and they are also not very bright.

Any ideas which one i should get?

    Thx

  • Thanks for this review. Due to your comments, I ordered this example direct from Fenix (c/w free delivery to the UK!?).

  • Did you refer to distance in METERS... Yes!! On behalf of Europe, I thank you!

And good review, I'm seriously considering a Fenix P3D.

  • Lol! Ive been bugging nut in this regard for a long time :D

  • first of all they dont have special batteries, second.... yes you can.

  • For the Fenix P3D, do you have to use their special batteries or can you use your own like Duracell.

  • It uses CR123A batteries just like a Surefire E2D among others,u can use any CR123A batteries. if Duracell make them, they will work fine.

  • great review i have been looking for weeks now for a tactical light for my ar-180b and this right here will work perfect for what i need excelent review nutn

  • nutnfancy you did it again! I purchased a SOG Aegis a while ago based on your review and love it, its part of my edc gear. I purchased a fenix pd30 based on your review of the p3d and man do I love it! Your reviews are great, they're informative and to the point, no hype just facts, good and the bad. Thanks so much!!

  • "Your reviews are great, they're informative and to the point, no hype just facts, good and the bad." Thanks much LifeOfaHero90...guys like you make it worthwhile! Peace

  • @LifeOfaHero90 Love your Reviews. You have the best review for the P3D and I ended up buying after doing my own research and finalized my decision after watching your review. Thank you very much for you reviews and keep it up...

  • Where do you find a short tactical rails?

  • "Where do you find a short tactical rails?" Brownells website has them. Search "Streamlight."

  • What size mount do you need to buy for this torch?

  • would that be good for following a blood trail?

    From deer of course... :D

  • I got mine in the mail yesterday and I have already put it to use. Great all around torch. Your video influenced my purchase. Thank You!

  • I purchased a Fenix TK11 from fenix tactical . com and its AMAZING? They also sell a pressure switch for them so they can easily be use with a weapon. They are SOOO much better then the surefire ones and a lot cheaper. Fenix is the way to go, LOVE IT!

  • HEY! Maglites are still useful. Like deer killing. lol. (No joke, my friend did it one day. lol.) I'd like to see you bludgeon a deer to death with one of those. Plus, my Maglite's got an LED lamp, so it's really bright, and 3 D batteries last a hell of a long time.

  • Whats the price difference in batteries, your regular AA or AAA compared to the Lithium battery shown?

  • got one from fenix store! free international shipping

  • Looks like a great light, your right about shurefire overpriced and not verry rugged. My unit bought shurefires like everyone else in the Army for weapons lights. I had a M203 so I wasn't issued a surefire. Before I deployed I bought a Surefire E2D Defender. The lamp assembly broke after two weeks straped to my hip in the turret. When it broke my squad leader gave me a Pellican Tac light that my platoon had replaced our Surefires with. That $40 Pelican still works and has a lifetime warenty.

  • what is the beet called

  • I wish there was a clip on.

  • yeah, Leatherman lights have clips, but there're not as good as Fenix

  • know anywhere to get portable HID lights the size of Surefire M6 gaurdian?

  • great vid yet again, certainly more sophisticated than when we did house clearing with mini maglites electrical taped to our rifle lol

  • I enjoyed this video and, I own a fenix I like it better than the G3 sure fire

  • a man can never have too many lights

    SS/DOL

  • Awesome vid nutn. keep it up

  • Your camera adjusts to the light level, so it's difficult to tell the difference between lights and even it's own modes, maybe you could do something?

  • anyone else get the "video is not available" thing?

  • just keep refreshing, it's a youtube flaw. It's still there.

  • ok, thanks

  • I've learned more about flashlights from your videos than I have ever known...same goes for knives...and guns...and other tactical gear. I've really learned so much from you! Thanks, Nutnfancy!

  • Comment removed

  • NUTN I know how you are on value so just wanted to mention the coleman xr-c 75 lumens and about 100 meters of lighting distance. Cost $17.99 at walmart. Your vids r the best . Thanks

  • NUTN...YOU ARE SQUARED AWAY!

  • Five Stars!!

  • Those batteries for the P3D are much more expensive than the aa batteries though. Last time I had a flashlight that uses those i paid 5 dollars for each

  • I think its funny how people who say Surefires are overpriced, are the ones who dont own one.

And I hate how Fenix does there knurling.

Anyways, It's good to know someone is willing to do a video light review, even though, I find Selfbuilt's review on candlepowerforums the best ever.

Selfbuilt is priddy much the king of flashlight reviews.

  • It's easy to take a look at the Surefire website (or Amazon) and see how their price/performance compares to Fenix. SureFires are great but they are also much more expensive for the same performance.

  • Oh, and thanks for giving us light geeks another great video!

  • I love my Fenix TK10 more than any light I've ever owned. Many grip options, huge accessible switch, bright, tough. Love it.

The only downside I've found are that it takes two hands to switch from regular to turbo mode. I think that alone is a massive design flaw. Especially considering who they're marketing those lights to.

  • 23 minutes very well spent I like the vids long if people dont like it they can not watch it =)

  • Hey Nutn,

At 11:00 you were talking a little about the Cree LEDs, how one was a more white light than the other. Which LEDs were in each light? Thanks.

  • 23 min. real long

  • great idea for a shim. Way to think outside the box!

  • Great review

  • Hey Nutnfancy, As a duty light I trust my EagleTac P10C2 ($56 !). It has 295 lumens on high for 1.2 hrs, and 60 lumens for 10 full hrs on low mode. It's incredibly compact, durable, and very simple to operate. I highly recommend that you, and everyone watching check it out. Thanks for the video's and stay safe!

  • "As a duty light I trust my EagleTac P10C2 ($56 !)" Sounds like another good option, thanks.

  • u should review a stramlight t-1 i got one for my glock it was 115 dollars but it mounts great and very bright!!!

  • best light ever seen

  • Fenix TA30

  • Should review some nuwai flashlights.

  • I have the PD20. Love that thing. Its beat up now, great user.

  • I've emailed Fenix asking where is there a retailer in my area. Never got an answer. I'm not going to buy anything off of the internet. But Iwant and L2D

  • Hey 4Ugrunt, If you never found a retailer but are still interested, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the fenix online store. Right from Fenix themselves, free shipping anywhere in the world. You can upgrade it cheaply too, with stuff like shipping insurance for only $5.

  • 23 minutes? holy crap, ntf !

  • but 23 minutes well spend! ;)

    5/5

  • "but 23 minutes well spend! ;)" Thanks. Yep 23 minutes but a much of the time is spent on other philosophy subjects like weapon lighting and other lights. That makes it more interesting I think.

  • Totaly agree! Everbody can say how great a flashlight or a knife or a gun is. But TNP takes it a stap further because of the ``philosophy of use`` discussion. Thats what makes TNP so special! Thanks allot for another great video, as always! Your work is much appreciated, and its great to see that your family also suports TNP, because it takes allot of your freetime after work etc.!

  • Big fan of the Fenix line also. Like finding a good mfg of firearms, they tend to multiply after you buy the first one.

  • LOL..........deployed and still doing reviews......I got to had it to you......you're a real trooper.....thanks for the good info.....5/5.

  • I got a nice idea for makking a better flashlight.... maybe I gotta work on it.

  • I think I mentioned this in your L2D video but Im not sure if you knew this but you can take off one body tube and take out on battery on the L2D to amke it a L1D, has the same output as the L1D in this setup so its even more versitale than people think...

  • Thanks for the very complete review, you are helping many people out there with your top quality work.

    Keep going.

  • theres a new model called the PD30 its the new P3D with anti roll feature and improved reflector and circutry.

  • I have a P3D (would be a miracle light 15 years ago!)

    surface could have more texture.

Also for vacations or or overseas military use better use a light with AA batteries

or use this one with rechargeable Li-ions

  • fenix is a great company.

  • I wanna get the Fenix TK11 R2

  • I got a P3d Q5 too.

I just wish fenix would have better grip texturing or try a polymer torch.

  • Doesn't look bad At all. Hey fancy i Use the EagleTac P10C2 / Uses 2 CR123 Bat. and rated up to 295 Lumens...Check it out !

  • I think they advise you not to put it on turbo mode for extended periods because the bezel can get really hot, last time my L2D Q5 went on by accident in my gym bag and it stayed on for up to 80minutes and it was waaay to hot to touch the bezel, it felt like a glass cup with boiling water inside.

  • Great review mate! I think Fenix has a remote switch available, but I believe that they are only for the TK series. BTW, pretty cool how this review was filmed in South Africa :-)

  • That was going to be my question. I want a pressure pad switch assembly when I buy one...and a weapon mount, natch. I really hope they have them for all their series of lights, because pricing these makes me want one like yesterday. Good comment.

  • Well can't u make them youselves?

  • You COULD make pressure switches yourself, but the fact of the matter is that I would rather have a tested mil spec switch. They are just not something I care to fashion myself as I need real reliability in that particular component. Mounts are easy to do, but switches can be tricky.

  • Since he also mentioned Olight, I think you should know that Olight makes a weapons mount and pressure switch for the M20 warrior. The Olight M20 out performs anything in Fenix TK series (250 lumens for 4.5 hours!). I have both Fenix and Olights, and the M20 is by far my favorite in my collection, we'll see if that statement holds true when I pick up some Nitecore and EagleTac lights.

Check out 4sevens(dot)com, they carry a wide array of Fenix, Olight, and Nitecore lights.

  • 250 lumen for 4.5 hours on 2x123a is physically impossible at this stage, you are looking at 1.5 hours or so actual run time.

  • 4.5 hours is possible in "ideal" lab conditions, which of course is what all manufacturers will go by to help sell their lights. With that said, selfbuilt's run time test on the M20 on candlepowerforums puts run time at 2-3 hours on high until 50% output.

  • Fenix just came out with pressure pads. they started releasing a bunch of cool stuff after the last SHOT show. checkout their website.

  • Man I want one of these. my lights are so friggin heavy. I know so little about modern torches. I need to go look up your older vids on this. I so need to update my loadouts. Much appreciated, brother!

  • awesome reiew... keep up the good work.
