Nobody is blaming "a single piece of legislation". Thats why Reagan cut taxes dramatically, created MORE TAXPAYERS, encouraged entrepreneurship and new businesses, and created more jobs and REVENUE than they ever could have done by raising taxes. The tax code should not be a vehicle for class warfare. After all, only the rich pay taxes. Sometimes to the tune of over 40% of their income. THAT is UNAMERICAN.

There WAS NO DEREGULATION. I don't know how many times I need to say this. There was OVERregulation, there was BAD regulation, but not DEregulation. The CRA was the catalyst for these predatory loans. F&F bought them up like water because Raines believed them to be "riskless".
