There is that great line from the Duke of Wellington at the beginning of the nineteenth century: "Great nations don't fight small wars." He didn't mean that great nations didn't fight wars that were small, but that once a great nation gets involved in a war, the very prestige and maybe its survival as a great nation is at stake. I don't think that realization sunk in until it was too late to do anything about it.
what better way to screw up a consistent record of decentralization of federal power then giving the federal government blanket authority over elections! brilliant. and i do note and love the nutcase deification of ron paul. an apostle, how quaint.

yeah, most democrats agree with you it seems. trouble is, he's running for the REPUBLICAN nomination. and in the last 100 years or so, typically republicans have nominated candidates that poll better in their party than the democrat party. i don't expect that to change anytime soon. ron paul's campaign has less than 3 months to live. terminal, doctor.
Making voting machines pass a standard of infalibility is not giving the government blanket power. Its keeping special intrest corps from screwing with them. Would you really trust a machine owned by ClearChannel (Fox, NYPost, Dow Jones, ect.) Also, you should learn how polling works. They call land lines of those who voted Rep. in last election. Only 6% voted for bush. not to accurate.
he has a chance if you believe...get others to do the same.. do not be afraid...fight for your country because IT IS YOURS TO FIGHT FOR! many americans have died so that we could live this life that we live...the time is now...
Ron Paul's "state rights" mantra is a thinly veiled policy of returning to the days of segregation, suppression of woman rights, and out and out bigotry.
Ron Paul is the only Congressman to vote against a bill honoring the 1964 civil rights act. Why? Because he believes social justice is wrong. Pathetic!
compare your thin veil of RP to how your current admin is just throwing it in your face!...was there social justice for katrina?...(by any governmental agency)...WAKE UP!!!
Well the fact of the matter is he believes states should decide on the abortion issue, period. At that point it is simple, if abortion is your number one issue, fight for it in your own state or move. I know there are people affraid to get involved, but our country simply will not work with everyone on the sidelines.
I'm not on the sidelines. I'm just sick of people telling me they like Ron Paul, but they can't support because of the abortion issue. These one issue voters need to open up their minds, and look at the big picture. Ron Paul is the only candidate that offers true change, and if people don't think we need change, then they are insane.
The likelihood of Ron Paul changing anything we have in place now with regards to abortion is minimal. The likelihood he will be busy addressing more important issues is for certain. Anyone who is a one issue voter, and makes abortion that one issue, is confused, narrow minded, and needs to wake-up to the more important issues that a president deals with.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the likelihood of ron paul changing anything is beyond minimal, it's non-existant. and that's assuming he DOES get elected, which won't happen. the cult members need to start waking up to reality.
Your reality sounds pretty nihilistic. If you really feel that hopeless, then can I have all of the money in your bank account? That way, you can jump off of that bridge you have been staring at and let the rest of us make the world a better place for our children.
You apparently lack the intelligence to know what the country needs. The other candidates are all the same - they all want bigger government. You are hung up on the party name, which reveals how ignorant you are. The party does not matter. Ron Paul has to "belong" to one of the two parties available. His platform is similar to the founding fathers, and he should win. If you vote for someone else, then you are anti-America, and pro-Repulicrat, or pro-Demolican.
Anyone know if you can request a paper ballot for voting if the diebold machines are there? I dont trust the computers, but I dont know if I can request a paper ballot instead of using computer counting.

We can't read into yhier minds and motivation?? we all know it's about oil and money, why doesn't ron say that?? i am a ron paul supporter, don't get me wrong. it just suprised me that he said that. Ron Paul 2008!!!
Ron Paul is above all things consistent and being that he has integrity up the wazzoo, he's always going to be the gentleman. He's already come out and said that he'd rather George Bush did not support him, but he's also wise to keep mentioning that Bush ran on a modest, no nation-building campaign. Not everybody thinks it's about oil and money. That's why he said it. There may be evidence it's for the money, but as for the oil, we sill haven't got any of it shipped to our gas stations yet. So what Paul said about the war was the right thing to say, he tells the truth and gains supporters at the same time. It's a win win comment that unites people instead of divides them. Ron Paul is addictive! He's got my vote.
It's not the idea of them shipping the oil to the u.s., it's having influence and causing disruption in the region to drive UP oil prices all across the world. and yes, your right, he said the right thing now that i really think about it. Ron Paul 2008
1%?? What a bunch of crap! Calling him an "internet phenomenon" or comparing him to Howard Dean just relegates him to being a curiosity, not a contender. Also insinuates that his liberal supporters are being duped. "Voters" are saying yes, dude! Paul wins every debate, but the MSM can't believe the overwhelming support and chalks it all up to spammers. Is the media just dumb or is it trying to protect the war revenue of its parent companies?
Its funny , its not the first time i've heard something like that. His supporters, weither they call themselves liberal or otherwise know exactly where he stands, THATS WHY THEY SUPPORT HIM!
Not because he dresses nice , or speaks well , or because the media says hes a front runner (i know they dont)
What guides Ron Paul supporters are 3 things , The Constitution, total disgust in party poliltics, and a new idea of what the role of government should be.
I love it, this humble libertarian leaning republican congressman from Texas getting all that hoopla in the Big apple... awesome! I'd cut my pinky off if Ron Paul could lead our country, but I'm a realist and I know it's difficult. Here's a thought though, what do you want to bet that if he loses every corp-media station will jump on the Ron Paul train after it's over to get ratings. If Ron Paul loses ban all TV news!!!! Hell, ban it anyway....
Ron Paul unites us all. Life is valuable as is liberty so I am pro-choice and respect the perspective of those who are pro-life. Such complex issues should be closer to the people and not at a federal or state level in my mind. With Ron Paul I agree 100% No National ID, NO nation building, no preemtive war, no grouping us together, no centralized empire, no federal education, no income tax serfdom and no NAU! Up hold the Constitution!!
This is hilarious. "Paul is polling way down in the polls." THEN THEY SHOW YOU HIS MASSIVE AND ENTHUSIASTIC FOLLOWING. I don't EVER see crowds like the for Hillary or Rudy McRompson. Hell, McCain can't even get ONE person to show up for his garbage.
The media always says that Ron Paul is way behind in the "polls". If he is so low in the polls then why are his events packed with people? Why is he able to 5 million dollars last quarter? Why does he win every debate according to the American people that watch it? There is something wrong with this picture. It boggles my mind how a "scientific poll" can get accurate readdings with just 300 people while the internet polls that have 50,000 people partcipating are not legitimate polls.
Why do the keep bringing up Howard Dean when they talk about Ron Paul, Howard Deans little whooyaa stunt is what killed him. He is no comparison to Ron and I wish they'd stop the b.s.
The comparison to Howard Dean is very appropriate on a lot of levels. Against the war, doctors, internet phenomenas, strong grassroots following... The only big difference so far is Dean became the media's darling for a few months which shot Dean why up in the polls. I can't wait to see Ron Paul on the cover of Time. :-)
And again they mis-represent his stance on Abortion. He doesnt like it, sure, but if a State wants to allow it, its okay. So if you are stupid enough to get knocked up in Texas, go to another state where you can get it done! There will always be liberal states where it will be allowed... that way nobody is forcing one issue on the american people and make the other 1/2 unhappy.
" stupid enough to get knocked up" is insulting. If you want to make your point, don't alienate readers with these kind of flippant and insensitive remarks.
Thanks for your support - hopefully you wont live in a state that does subsidize it, but its a 50/50 (probably) chance. Still, if you ARE unhappy with your states stance on abortion than excersize your constitutional ability to change it. thanks fyi...
In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, "STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES" sorry Marc, I dont have ANY sympathy for women that allow themselves to get pregnant with an unwanted child. FRANKLY I DONT THINK ANYONE DOES... its simply the truth... accidents are different but 95% are not accidents... simply a blatant lack of birth control.
I was there! It was awesome! One of the best moments was when about 200 of us, signs in hands and chanting his name, followed the good doctor to Grand Central Terminal. Our loud procession ended after Ron took front and center on top of the staircase landing, and addressed his adoring crowd and mesmerized newbies, His freedom message is ringing all across the land! Spread the word. He is winning!
He has won more straw polls than any other candidate. He appeals to more than "young voters." Pro life/pro choice, though an impoortant consideration, is superceded by the war and the sovereignty of our Nation. Look him up. Register Republican, or the fascist controllers will not let you vote for him in the primaries.
This is a pretty fair story. CNN is gaining quit a bit of credibility, in my humble opinion, for its coverage of Mr. Paul. It has been fair, and it increasing in proportion to his increasing relevance in the upcoming primary.
"most liberal followers probably dont know he is an opponent of abortion"
Did they even find one person who doesn't know he believes it's a state issue as authorized by the costitution? Amazing reporting CNN, not even giving one source for that
Ron Paul, please rethink about your abortion policy. You will get more votes from women.

There will always be liberal states where it will be allowed... that way nobody is forcing one issue on the american people and make the other 1/2 unhappy.

" stupid enough to get knocked up" is insulting. If you want to make your point, don't alienate readers with these kind of flippant and insensitive remarks.

He's right. It's not very hard to put on a condom. Let the states decide. As long as I don't have to subsidize it!
ivinski101 4 years ago 4

The snowball effect continues in full force.
JANUARY, 2009: we will be calling him, Mr. President.

Register Republican, or the fascist controllers will not let you vote for him in the primaries.

hit job on abortion issue, dr. paul is for state's rights. that includes the right to say no you can't kill your children.

He is pro-life though, so it's not really a hit-piece. With these short segments you can't really go into that much substance unfortunately.

They tried a bit to slam dunk him on the abortion issue by not expressing his full view in clarity. Still not a bad interview, though.

I marched today in Pittsburgh for Freedom and Dr. Paul. It was awesome! Keep up the fight!

It sure is, but CNN is still asking more questions about his status of being unknown to many as opposed to questions about his philosophical views.

Maybe this new quarter, if Ron Paul reaches his fundraising goal, that will change.
