What you see on camera is different from what actually goes on. i live in detroit and have been here multiple times, they put mic packs on everyone with a item to pawn or sell, not on people taking out loans etc. I've seen people take the mic packs and break em on the ground when walking out. if you lived in the D this is not even close to the everyday activity that goes on here
Everything on TruTV is fake except for the clips you see on World's Dumbest, Live Clips from World Scariest..., and Forensic Files and The Investigators. My favorite show personally is Forensic Files. It's the ONLY time I even turn it to TruTV.

It's definitely not a mic. A lot of people seem to think it could be an mp3 player which is possible, but I work security at a major airport and see a lot of people with insulin pumps and this looks like one.

Pawn Stars is real, Hardcore pawn is fake. Pawn stars waits for something good to walk in the door, they then have the person redo walking in and talking. That's where its scripted. Staged or not, it makes for good TV. I am a big fan, and even though some scenes do look staged or are totally out there, I take it for what it is: Entertainment.
I dont think Les and Seth have time to plan shit out,they do run a buisness,there is loads of people in the store all the time.They dont have time to make shit up,sit there and plan shit out with certain people.Ive seen the camera crew have mics on the counter top in episodes and they use boom mics.I dont really care though,i think its entertaining,Detroit is a bad place.
I kind of liked this show at first, but after a while I realized that that each episode is exactly the same. And Les only acts tough because he's got 300 pound body guards surrounding him at all times.
for the record they have to get permission from everyone before they can appear on camera, so maybe they approached her at the door and asked her if she would wear a microphone while they filmed her transaction or something. Plus that's not hardcore proof that the show is fake (not that I'm saying it isn't because i have no idea) but i have seen people act this outrageous before when it comes to thinking they are being ripped off so i'll believe anything!

It would not surprise me if they put mics on some people. However, I don't think this person is one of them. The wireless mics they use for TV are always black. They are also normally bigger than this...though it is possible they are smaller now than when I worked with them. It is swinging wrong also. That doesn't swing like it is going up her shirt. On top of all that, you would have seen at least a tiny clip near her lapel. Unless you think they gave her a shirt with the mic sewn in.
The producers pick and choose the weirdest people And encourage their weird behavior look closely at the credits "reality tv" in my opinion shouldn't have so many writers but the show is entertaining

Its simple. The producers stand outside and ask people questions and pick out people that they think will be good on tv. They mic those particular people up and send em in. They do the same thing on Pawn Stars.

It's a real shop and the employees portrayed are certainly the ones that actually work there and own the business. However Tru-TV is pretty notorious for scripting and staging their "reality" shows. Operation Repo is one of the more widely known examples. I'm sure all the drama sales actually happened but they were re-enacted for the cameras and in Tru-TV fashion are way over the top.
the show is set up not all is real, i was on the show, i wasnt tring to be on it either, i had a ad on craigslist, some lady called me, asked me if i wanted to be on it, told me when to come and wat time, i walked inside, signed some papers, got wired up, did a interview, talked to seth on camera about selling my item, he low balled the fuck out of me, i said no thanks, did another interview after asking what i thought about the offer.. after i was off camera they asked me if my friends wanted

thx for the post...but I think you need to define "fake"..yes it is a reality TV show and they are all staged to some extent. More than likely people are selected as they enter the shop and asked if they wanna be on the show, then they probably sign something. They probably discuss with the producers what their intent is and how they might react if they don't get what they want..then they let the good times roll!! I'm just guessing, but that seems to be the most obvious way of looking at it.
Obviously there is some kind of a screening process by the producers of the show just outside the doors and people who have a potentially controversial problem get micd or maybe a customer may have an peculiar peronality and the producers have a hunch it may yield good footage. That's not the same as FAKE .However , the mic does give incentive to a customer to exaggerate his or her reaction to an outcome that they may not agree with. Not the same as being FaKE or scripted.

for the record they have to get permission from everyone before they can appear on camera, so maybe they approached her at the door and asked her if she would wear a microphone while they filmed her transaction or something. Plus that's not hardcore proof that the show is fake (not that I'm saying it isn't because i have no idea) but i have seen people act this outrageous before when it comes to thinking they are being ripped off so i'll believe anything!

It would not surprise me if they put mics on some people. However, I don't think this person is one of them. The wireless mics they use for TV are always black. They are also normally bigger than this...though it is possible they are smaller now than when I worked with them. It is swinging wrong also. That doesn't swing like it is going up her shirt. On top of all that, you would have seen at least a tiny clip near her lapel. Unless you think they gave her a shirt with the mic sewn in.

If it wasnt, there would be an episode that showed Les calling out his kids for the freeloading fucks that they are,, Seth being bitch slapped 20 times for being a ferret looking punk and Ashley going through a box of doughnuts an hour. DUH!!!!! And to top it off, they all act broke and "helping people". OK,, that part of the "story",, where they rip off people in hardships, while making millions,,, is most likely accurate.

Its simple. The producers stand outside and ask people questions and pick out people that they think will be good on tv. They mic those particular people up and send em in. They do the same thing on Pawn Stars.

It's a real shop and the employees portrayed are certainly the ones that actually work there and own the business. However Tru-TV is pretty notorious for scripting and staging their "reality" shows. Operation Repo is one of the more widely known examples. I'm sure all the drama sales actually happened but they were re-enacted for the cameras and in Tru-TV fashion are way over the top.

the show is set up not all is real, i was on the show, i wasnt tring to be on it either, i had a ad on craigslist, some lady called me, asked me if i wanted to be on it, told me when to come and wat time, i walked inside, signed some papers, got wired up, did a interview, talked to seth on camera about selling my item, he low balled the fuck out of me, i said no thanks, did another interview after asking what i thought about the offer.. after i was off camera they asked me if my friends wanted

thx for the post...but I think you need to define "fake"..yes it is a reality TV show and they are all staged to some extent. More than likely people are selected as they enter the shop and asked if they wanna be on the show, then they probably sign something. They probably discuss with the producers what their intent is and how they might react if they don't get what they want..then they let the good times roll!! I'm just guessing, but that seems to be the most obvious way of looking at it.

Obviously there is some kind of a screening process by the producers of the show just outside the doors and people who have a potentially controversial problem get micd or maybe a customer may have an peculiar peronality and the producers have a hunch it may yield good footage. That's not the same as FAKE .However , the mic does give incentive to a customer to exaggerate his or her reaction to an outcome that they may not agree with. Not the same as being FaKE or scripted.

Some of it is staged, kinda like jerry springer but they do show real transactions as well. The millions of cameras are security cameras, and no they do not have built in microphones scattered around. You don't believe everything on TV is real now do you?
