I love NC and Transportation "spacifically trains" And i've been to this museum, the gold coast railroad museum, the london transport. museum, the nc railroad museum, south hill modle railroad and doll museum, and I am still trying to go to all the transportation and railroad museums in the world.
I have been there twice so far, going back this coming weekend with my son again for his birthday, there is an antique tractor show there the first weekend in april.. yall come out, i will try to post some video of it.
The 604 (4) still needs more money to complete it's rebuild. The 1925 needs part of the firebox replaced and new flue tubes, but work on it won't start until the 604 (4) rebuild is finished.
hi im new to your channel and first thing that stood out was the amazing quailty off your videos can you by any chance tell me your setting? or do a tutorial please or pm me many thanks gareth.
Good job! I live just a few hundred yards from the Orange Empire Train Museum in CA. and they have a steam locomotive that I need to go ride on. For $50 they let you be the engineer and give you training.
mobiltec .. don't procrastinate .. you should definitely do that .. thats something you can tell your grandchildren .. BETTER YET .. you can SHOW them the VIDEO .. haha
Yes, it's very different. You get more of the real true sense of what the railroading was like, and what it was. You can see, feel, and hear what the Southern Railroad was like. Engine #1925 was a beautiful shay. She has a lovely bark to her exhaust, and a beautiful whistle. She was also a very reliable locomotive, and could go up to 19 mph which is fast for a shay. This place is a must see, and you must ride a steam once the #4 or #1925 are back up.
Dan...Another fine video...My grandpa's feed store was right next to a railroad crossing...So from babyhood trains were always front and center in my life...I always had to watch the train go by...This video takes me to a place i've never seen...Where the trains come from!
Interesting. Even more interesting is that some countries use the trains that we sold them, after we stopped using them and they are still going, even with very little care or restoration. Its all to do with speed now, where as i think they are jsut happy to get around.
Ahhh I almost logged off , then I saw your kind comment!
The towns of Spencer and Salisbury were more interesting to Janet. I love museums more than shopping, of course we had great burgers in a shop in downtown, so I think we both won.
Know Chestnut Hill very well. The Bush Bros. plant is there. Used to drive through there to get to the house of a girl I was dating in Sevierville in college. Looking back, that was wasted gas. :)
Dan......Who is the sexy lady at the end?

The shay last ran last year. Sadly it's out of boiler time, and needs new tubes. I was lucky to ride behind her 4 years ago.

That is so cool chris, It is just different when its a steam engine pulling the cars.
