  • Dan......Who is the sexy lady at the end?

  • I love NC and Transportation "spacifically trains" And i've been to this museum, the gold coast railroad museum, the london transport. museum, the nc railroad museum, south hill modle railroad and doll museum, and I am still trying to go to all the transportation and railroad museums in the world.

  • I have been there twice so far, going back this coming weekend with my son again for his birthday, there is an antique tractor show there the first weekend in april.. yall come out, i will try to post some video of it.

  • nice video, I go there all the time. Have you thought about doing a video about tweetsie?

  • Hi NCrailfan, My brother continues to encourage us to go visit the Tweetsie, we have been by it many times, maybe we can stop in this spring!

    Thanks

  • how's 1925 and 604 (4) doing?

  • The 604 (4) still needs more money to complete it's rebuild. The 1925 needs part of the firebox replaced and new flue tubes, but work on it won't start until the 604 (4) rebuild is finished.

  • get a new boiler for 1925.

  • Number 4 is getting there, but slowly.

  • mikma was here

  • acknowledged

  • i live five min from there

  • I love this and your vids are so educational and great for people that are not able to get ot to be able to see things in the world!

  • Thanks so much LPH, very nice of you to say

    Dan

  • See Dan other people think your videos are educational :)

  • Geez Dan... where did you guys go? Over a month and no new video out?

  • Thanks gams,

I sent you a message with the settings we use.

  • I have been here many times. It is an always interesting place to wander around.

  • this was such a cool video TOO dan ..

they should have featured THIS .. but .. maybe i'm biased because i love trains haha ..

man would i ever love to shoot a music video there ..

    anyways .. 5 stars from me ..

    your friend jeff

    Jeff Williams / guitarist / singer-songwriter

  • I think it would be a great location for a music video! I can see the Schwaab Pullman car in it! or maybe that giant turntable!

  • gah i remember going to spencer a lot when I was a kid with my family.

  • I had places like that as well, to funny

  • Good job! I live just a few hundred yards from the Orange Empire Train Museum in CA. and they have a steam locomotive that I need to go ride on. For $50 they let you be the engineer and give you training.

    Thanks for the video.

  • That $50 deal is very cool, did you do it?

  • mobiltec .. don't procrastinate .. you should definitely do that .. thats something you can tell your grandchildren .. BETTER YET .. you can SHOW them the VIDEO .. haha

  • very interesting!

  • Thank You Inky

  • Nice Video, very nice

  • salam

thanks fot ur invitation and for this video,

    it's so nice

  • Thank You Safa,

    Nice of you to say.

  • Very very good compliments

  • Thank you very much Anton

  • The shay last ran last year. Sadly it's out of boiler time, and needs new tubes. I was lucky to ride behind her 4 years ago.

  • That is so cool chris, It is just different when its a steam engine pulling the cars.

  • Yes, it's very different. You get more of the real true sense of what the railroading was like, and what it was. You can see, feel, and hear what the Southern Railroad was like. Engine #1925 was a beautiful shay. She has a lovely bark to her exhaust, and a beautiful whistle. She was also a very reliable locomotive, and could go up to 19 mph which is fast for a shay. This place is a must see, and you must ride a steam once the #4 or #1925 are back up.

  • I couldn't either

    Thanks

  • Dan...Another fine video...My grandpa's feed store was right next to a railroad crossing...So from babyhood trains were always front and center in my life...I always had to watch the train go by...This video takes me to a place i've never seen...Where the trains come from!

  • Thanks Daniel,

I love to watch trains go by and think about jumping on one to see where I would end up!

I might be a HOBO at heart.

  • This video is a pleasure to watch. You've constructed and composed it beautifully, really. Thanks a lot for sharing!

  • Thanks much annfoxshao!

Your words are really nice and appreciated very much form a self taught hack of an video editor!

  • Ohhhh nice one Dan. Thanks.

  • Thanks Scott!

I think we are getting all of your rain this week. uuugh

  • LOL It's been snow for us here. This season we had over 8 feet of snow.

  • SUPER DUPER! :~D 5 STARS!

  • Thank you edenmaze!

your comment is a five star

  • Interesting. Even more interesting is that some countries use the trains that we sold them, after we stopped using them and they are still going, even with very little care or restoration. Its all to do with speed now, where as i think they are jsut happy to get around.

  • Thanks realnutty,

    That is fascinating to learn!

Some of the old Shay Engines seem to go on forever.

  • Ahhh I almost logged off , then I saw your kind comment!

The towns of Spencer and Salisbury were more interesting to Janet. I love museums more than shopping, of course we had great burgers in a shop in downtown, so I think we both won.

  • very intresting!

  • Thank so much ligmena

  • cute ending..Leatherheads sounds like a good film~~

  • beautifully done Dan!! loved it~~ you really know how to bring us the 411 in an entertaining and fun manner!~~ '-)

  • Thank You Jules and welcome back!

I wanted to do the intro with both Maggie and George (Other pup) It just wasn't meant to be ha ha

  • Yet another excellent and interesting video Dan, beautifully put together:)

  • You sir are way to kind!

Hope you and the missus are doing well.

  • Another great vid Dan...my parents lived in Salisbury for 15 years...went to the shops many times!

  • Thanks digger, Salisbury is so awesome! we love to browse the shops there.

  • Another good one Dan.

Where was your grandfather's destination in TN from Spartunburg?(..and I complain about having to walk to the mailbox)

Maggie appears to be mistreated. She needs more attention :)

  • They moved to the Chestnut Hill, Newport area!

Yes Maggie is ready to call the abuse hotline!

    ha ha

    thanks

    Dan

  • Know Chestnut Hill very well. The Bush Bros. plant is there. Used to drive through there to get to the house of a girl I was dating in Sevierville in college. Looking back, that was wasted gas. :)

  • ha ha

I have wasted much gas myself.

Our family cemetery is overlooking the Bush plant! My great grandparents are buried there.

  • Oh my son will love this video. I've faved it! :D

  • Thank You so much Kim.

Let me know what he thinks!

    Dan
