Personally I think Ethan Hawke should have played Max Payne. Max and Ethan look similar and Ethan has had several cop roles. But if you were going for the Max Payne 2 look I would have to go with Christian Bale. I like Mark Wahlberg and everything but he is a terrible Max Payne.

@VicePower Well Max Payne is told all in Max's perspective, and the movie jumps around alot, and isn't anywhere near as depressing as the game is, which Max had so many monologues in the games thus having a great dark description on its world and story

They did switch a few character traits here and there, but all in all, it was still a different version of Max Payne, yet it was Max Payne nonetheless. I've practically grown up with the games and I love every single second of them. When the movie came out, I was sort of in a nomadic phase so I didn't catch it in theaters but when I got a copy of it on DVD, it became one of my top favorites

@Heatseaker19 For one thing it was very poorly edited, there were very long pauses in the dialogue and several of the scenes seemed to end to abruptly. There was very little suspense to the movie, it had a very poor plot and relied to heavily on CGI in my opinion. The Max Payne video games were meant to be suspense filled dramas, Max Payne the movie was just a cheap action flick. I could keep going on but the bottom line it I went and saw and wanted to ask for my money back.
