  • stop!!!???

that'd be the worst thing to do...

  • why would you yell stop thats like the one thing you shouldnt do dumbass.

  • why on god's green earth (or white) would he STOP for an avalanche

  • avoid going on the sunny sides of mountains when it has been hot or in afternoons!!! and try stick to where there are rocks and trees, where u can be safe!!!!

  • holy fu**

  • Makes my heart beat horribly fast!

  • Is the guy okay*

  • never stop cut left or right when theres a slide behind you

  • @Applesandfries it was a marked trail which just doesnt get prepared to leave the deep snow there. And this wa not a dangerous avalanche.

  • @MultiFfggffgg Not dangerous?? 1:30

  • weren't there any warning about the snow being unstable? usually snow reports are really good in europe, so i wonder why you were skiing in an area were the snow was unstable?

  • This is in the ski domain of telenendaz, not verbier, although easily accesible from verbier

  • Danger.

Makes me want to free ride even more!

  • i think an AVE pit would have been a good idea...

  • @crashzimmer Avy pits are just a single weapon in the arsenal of avalanche preparedness. Without being there we have no way of know if he was recless or not.

  • @Aklovelivesnowboard Now tell how stupid I am for not being able to spell reckless. I am a recless typer. Haha. Peace!

  • Ich hab sowas schon einmal gesehen.Sie fuhren, als ob der Teufel hinter ihnen her ist....irgendwie

war es ja so :-))) Dummheit wir sehr schnell bestraft

  • When a mountain avalanches you do not stop! You absolutely fly down it and get your ass to the bottom.

  • @ELottVideos No you try to get out the way to the side - exactly as he did. "Stop" meant stop your freeride and get out of there.

  • Actually you have your safe zones picked out ahead of time and cut left or right to get out of the way. Usually a ridge. He did good.

  • lol yeah stop stop and have a chat with the snow rushing at u

  • 1:04-1:06 looks like lava

  • That's was a close call. I'm glad your okay.

  • Where in Verbier???

  • @Brooksyishere15 See the description.

  • I know the resort, where on the mountain was it, which route?

  • @Brooksyishere15 The one where you have to take the bus to get back into the resort.

  • @Brooksyishere15 switzerland

  • @Brooksyishere15 in swiss

  • THAT WAS WEAK

  • TSUNAMI.......TSUNAMI.......

  • Ya eu dla chance ton pot X)

  • Found the avalanche...

  • he was telling the avalanche to stop.

  • Men you're the luckiest guy I ever seen !

  • swiss avalanches can be badass...10 yrs ago one avalanche destroied a whole village

  • SHIT

  • dont tell him to stop lol tell him to go faster! haha

  • Classic slab avalanche just appear outta nowhere

  • a STOP is a wrong thing to do

  • increible pero cierto

  • It's so....quiet. You wouldn't think that tons and tons of moving snow would be that silent.

  • CUNT i'm better

  • shouting is very useful in an avalanche-dangerous environment. congrat!

  • @MrBambalini No human can start an avalanche by his voice only '-_-

  • All you can do is make sure you carry the right gear: Tranciever, shovel, probe, knowledge, attitude and friends.

  • There are no hard and fast rules to determining the safety of a slope in the Backcountry...a slope that is safe one day could be unsafe the next. People saying "just ski out" have no clue. If you put yourself in that position you already fucked up bigtime. 2/3 people caught in avalanches die. doesnt matter what type of avalanche, or what size. 2/3!! in addition, 1/4 people die from trauma sustained during the slide. no-one can control the slopes...

  • camera man is a dumbass. why would you stop with an avalanche behind you? i'd be picking up some speed.

  • @glazealotabrass420 its impossible to out ski an avalanche, the only thing you can do to save yourself is ski out of its direction

  • @iBles3d unless the avalanche was a tiny one. really really tiny.

  • Happened to be listening to the LOTR soundtrack at the time and it seemed eerily fitting.

  • Those of you who think this is funny and the skiers are wimps, obviously have never skied serious back country. You have the same attitude as those that die in avalanche every year. Avalanche is no laughing matter & happens when least expected. Be prepared when even just going off piste. Cover yourself with snow sometime (packed snow, which is what an avalanche will cover you with, after it throws you around like a rag doll, twisting you up) and try to move. That is only the begging.

  • @KozmoJ68

Yes, that is only the begging. STFU

  • its like a river

  • oh snapp!

  • i like how hes just kinda standing there at the end lookin around

  • the sound it makes......so soft yet so deadly

  • @MrCrotchs was thinkin the same thing

  • dudes big avy breaks off the last thing you wanna do is stop in the path, idiot should have said get to the sides

  • i think wen he yelled stop, thats what started it, ?? : /

  • when he said ''Stop,stop'' I didn´t see anything.... he´s very bright

  • lol i tihnk "stop" was the best thing to shout....

  • If that was me I woulda powered full speed down that hill.

  • @occultninja4

That's the wrong thing to do lol, the avalanche will always be faster

  • @eviilhomerr hey what elce could you do? xD seriously tho.

  • @occultninja4 You do what this guy did and immediately ski to the side. You always need probes, shovels, detectors, just in case someone gets taken in and you can find them asap. What kills people in avalanches is the eventual suffocation, so get them out before it and you will save their life.

  • @eviilhomerr Ohhh, ok. Thanks for the advice, just in case I go free riding I'll make sure to remember that. Learned something today :)

  • Fuck... id be like "GO MAN GO!!"

  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search and click the video with stars in the title to be shocked!

  • @kelsham18 stop spamming that shit video everywhere

  • @kelsham18

That video looked painful, but not as painful as the skier at winter x-games who was on a speed course and took one of those poles you go around right to the nuts in the middle of the course.

  • never tell him "stop" when a slide begins. i highly encourage you to take a avey course. if you have, take it again

  • real freerider never stops in an avalanche... he/she does not let it catch up with him/her ;) it will subside sooner or later especially if it's these mild slopes. also a change in temperature can play a major role in avalanches

  • wo genau ist des in Verbier?

    verbier = bääästes!!

  • that's insane

  • Hopefully he had his beacon handy.....

  • i want to ride a tube down a that

  • no dont stop! lol. scary thing is, this is a relatively small avalanche....

  • Thought you were fucked there for a bit. Way to get out of it.

  • he was most likely yelling stop because their escape route was right underneath him. Comment on this if I'm correct.

  • Shouting stop, wow, that's retarded.

  • @nicko678 you spastic he was telling the skier to stop... people these days...

  • @tomjoekins

Maybe you should think before you comment. If that guy would have stopped, he'd be buried. Luckily he didn't listen.

  • @nicko678 maybe you should think before acting all smart. of course the rider wouldn't have stopped immediately, but got to a safe place before stopping, such as out of the way of the avalanche...

  • Wow, that was huge

  • looks soooo nice there wow i wanna go there really bad

  • At 1:41 - my reaction "OMG! There is A YETI! A YETI!"

    So yeah.

  • ... I mean he prolly could have ridden that one... woulda been sick... nothing below but whatever

  • @scski14 agreed, especially when he shows the view from the bottom of the avalanche zone... after seeing this aspect, "STOP" would have been the last thing I yelled

  • @manbearpig5000000 lol more like haul ass

  • take an avalanche course, a good one

  • the proper thing to do is make three turns then turn and traverse away then repeat. If you get caught in one you gotta traverse out of the sluffwatch old Plake and Shmitt stuff there is a reason they are still around never ride without probe, peeps and shovel if you don't know don't go

  • the proper thing to do is make three turns then turn and traverse away then repeat. If you get caught in one you gotta traverse out of the sluffwatch old Plake and Shmitt stuff there is a reason they are still around

  • To all of those who think they know what the fuck they are talking about:

When you are skiing, it is hard to hear when you are going faster. It is much easier to hear "STOP!" than try to understand "AVALANCHE!" When you hear stop, you don't actually stop then and there, you get to safety.

Second, you can only outrun an avalanche at the start, once they pick up steam they can reach over 100mph.

  • Agreed. Looks like these kids knew what they were doing, and anyone that knows what they are doing will only willingly stop at predetermined "safe zones". Therefore, when you hear stop, that means book it to your safe zone and stop.

  • Chuck Norris causes Avalanches, Mother Nature got nothing to do with it. :))))))))

Your lucky chuck didn't own your ass

  • Ok when something like this happens, Chuck Norris has to be involved somehow.

  • man avalanches are quite as

  • what are you suppose to do when a avalanche occurs?

  • @tennis4life1 You're supposed to remain calm and try to swim in it to keep you above the snow.

  • @tennis4life1 get the fuck out of there lol

  • tide

  • Great footage of the flow of snow. Like a huge river wave of cold sparkling bliss turning into possible death and destruction.

  • CameraMan: STOP, STOP!!!!!!!. uuuoooo! wel he is still alive.

FreeRider: shit i think i just waked up a bear. O.o

  • Stop? ya smart idea

  • @majorafan09 for example, that Olympic level snowboarder who was killed in pursuit of Shawn White's Olympic run.

  • @majorafan09 I think that addressing risk as accurately as possible is the bare minimum of being on a mountain. However, the mountain will take it's victims no matter how careful you are. If you make one mistake, you may not be able to return to earth let alone see another day on a ski or snowboard. Which is what makes someone like Craig Kelly so amazing. Risk will be reduced with technology, you now have ski googles that can act as a transparent monitor, yet the danger will always be high.

  • What a noob, the guy on the skies crossed the line of a skier who were there before, thats so stupid, shouldn't go off-pist if you dont know basics, by the way never ask some one to stop, if there is an AVI.. its stupid..

  • That slide was huge. But for an advantageous ski line that quickly delivered you behind that sheltering rock outcrop, your life could have easily been cut short.

  • @Aenigmo tht was not small my uncle was right beside the camera man so go suk eggs u creeper

  • pff thats a tiny avalanche, if i would get stuck in it, i would just cut off my legs so i can swim more easly to the surface

  • the cameraman was hell of a lucky man

  • @paintdataint You are an arrogant moron if you think the mountain will spare you, even if you have the top avalanche training. The mountain is an unforgiving god that for sure is out for blood.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr I wouldn't go quite that far..... I'd say that mountains are unpredictable. They are awesome things of nature and you have to be cautious on them, especially if they're snow-capped.

  • ha ha why would you stop...:P

  • There's something soothing about that snow sliding down that mountain....0:15

  • GLEET!

  • STOP STOP!!!!! who da hell is ganna stop in the middle of a avalanche

  • shit, i hop i never will have to face something by this, following the 3x3 rule and take a close look at the slope prevented me from something like that but anyway....

  • sketchy.

  • Il a du bol ton pote parce que l'on ne maitrise rien dans une avalanche !

  • Which ski route is this?

  • level 3 (in swizzy) actually means its pretty HIGH RISK!!! at that level you shoud not ski in more then 35*steep slopes (slopes that have visible rocks in it) - and in areas with wind blown in snow. if you look at that face its a clear NO GO at level 3!!! (even if there are allready tracks on the slope)

this face its a level 1-2 and even at "high" level 2 suspicous...

  • I ski and when the avalanche is nearing me i was almost about to fart and i did but when i turn back they .........................

  • did he died?

  • @thadude765 love it !!

  • @thadude765 yes he is dead now and what you see at the end of the video is a ghost

  • Snow profile takes time saves lives.

  • LOL stop stop xD if i saw an avalanche i wldnt care about my personal safety i wld zoom down as fast as i can xD

  • lol Buddy was Smart he didn't Stop !

  • if you were expecting to ride in that area and start an avalanche your fucking retarded

  • avalanches are the reason we ski exept when it gets to strong, then we blame it on nature =D

  • lol i like how the snow was moving about 2 ft. in front of him and he didn't care

  • What do you do when you're freeriding and start an avalanche?

  • @jumpingjehosafad ski as fast as u can :)

  • @jumpingjehosafad ski like a mutha fucka!! lol actually what ur suppose to do is head for a high point. so for instance when your riding down something that looks like it may have an instability in the snow pack, your suppose to stay on the high point (i forget the right termonology) and not go into the chute where the fall line goes. if you get caught directly infront of it with no high points around to head to, your suppose to cut hard against the fall line so you can semi get out of the way

  • To those people who say its careless to ski off-piste. Well no, it wouldnt be advised to if you were not fully equipped and had some decent knowledge of avalanche safety and how to assess slopes. But if you do, there is zero guarantee it wont slide, and if it does, and you do things by the book, you should have a pre-planned escape route. Please, to everyone, dont rely completetly on ski patrol to mark a run as safe. NOONE CAN GUARANTEE IT WONT SLIDE

  • And why would you say STOP STOP...Omg think about if he stopped...

  • its that a camra in the snow?!?!! 0:26

  • HES TRYING TO BRING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN!

  • GO GO!!!!!

  • stop? if he stopped then the avalanch would of gone over him

  • fake

  • @smokeybarr are you stupid?

  • @Smidd1995 they're called trolls pal haha XD

  • @rogue351

For some reason i cannot see your comment, but no I never go alone. If it is completely off piste, we go as a group, however if it is "under the ropes" within the ski resort area we might go only in pairs.

  • CRAZY video, check out MYSNOWBOARDSPOT . com for more videos like this!

  • holy shit that is my worst nightmare when skiing

  • I cant believe that guy managed to outrun it!

  • This happens sometimes when I'm walking down the stairs when I'm high

  • @zeltarg

    best comment ever

  • @zeltarg for the win

  • @zeltarg hahahahaaaa

  • @zeltarg holy fuck, that sucks.

  • @zeltarg i wish we were friends in real life

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr Not correct: not gone "under the ropes". It was close to an "official off piste slope" which was opened for skiing. They have a couple of those at Verbier and. Please read the description first.

  • @mailadress222 Yeah, thats the point of Verbier! It would be poor if it wasn't for this kind of riding! Plus Beepers, shovels and probes are pushed very hard on people there! Safe if done so responsibly! :-) PS He also seemed pretty clear on his out....

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr

I was just at Alta/Snowbird, and I frequently went "under the ropes". Why? Because I am experienced enough to do so, for I carry the knowledge, skill and the necessary equipment. Additionally, the off piste in Snowbird is not even close to as challenging as off piste in Verbier.

  • Comment removed

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr Skiers and boarders should not rely on ski patrol to tell them where not to and where to go. The fact that ski patrol exists is not appreciated enough and the fact that people can very easily access the mountains encourages people to not be prepared or have the knowledge to assess slopes themselves, they also greatly underestimate the power of snow. And noone can give a mountainside a 0% chance of avalanche. This explains how sometimes they occur on piste and has killed many

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr fucking arrogant retard.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr Woooo Go Snowbird Utah!!! xD

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr france is completley different from us and canada.

you are alowed to ski off piste anywhere in a resort. you just do so at your own risk. this is because european people dont sue at the smallest indescretion......

  • @justpullingyourleg maybe you should sue, you'd be a rich european

  • @myNAMEhighGUY hahaha

  • @justpullingyourleg I would not say that dying is a small indescretion........

  • @FatBouy333 Granted, but it's called common sense.

An Australian comedian, Steve Hughes, did a good bit that reminded me of this:

    watch?v=BAnGYfnFz9I

  • @justpullingyourleg

You can ski off piste out of many resorts in Canada and the US BUT your crazy to every to out of bounds unprepared and unaware of the situations you could face. Check in with mountain operations or patrol before you go through their gates that would be the respectable thing to do.

  • @justpullingyourleg But they do grab their leg and roll around like a little pussy when their playing soccer

  • @justpullingyourleg in canada especially in bc your allowed to ski off piste. I've skied with patrollers out of bounds it was sick cause they new where everything was :) and suing at every indiscretion is an american thing don't hear it as much of it in canada
